Point cloud data (i.e., LiDAR; Light Detection and Ranging) collected by Airborne Laser Scanner (ALS) system is one of the major sources for surface reconstruction including DEM generation, topographic mapping and object modeling. Recently, demand and requirement of the accurate and realistic Digital Building Model (DBM) increase for geospatial platforms and spatial data infrastructure. The main issues in the object modeling such as building and city modeling are efficiency of the methodology and quality of the final products. Efficiency and quality are associated with automation and accuracy, respectively. However, these two factors are often opposite each other. This paper aims to introduce correction scheme of incorrectly determined Model Key Points (MKPs) regardless of the segmentation method. Planimetric and height locations of the MKPs were refined by surface patch fitting based on the Least-Squares Solution (LESS). The proposed methods were applied to the synthetic and real LiDAR data. Finally, the results were analyzed by comparing adjusted MKPs with the true building model data.

During the first and second NGIS projects by the Korean government, The first one (1995~2000) was limited on constructing geographic information and the second (2001~2005) was focused on circulation and practical use of geoinformation from the result of the first project. In the latter half of 2nd NGIS project, However, the geographic information from the NGIS projects have not been renewed even though there were significant geographical changes. The accurate renewal of geoinformation is a matter of great importance to the next generation industry (e.g. LBS, Ubiquitous, Telematics). In this respect, it is time to update the geographic information in the latter half of the second NGIS project. Therefore, It is not only important to build an accurate geoinformation but also rapid and correct renewal of the geoinformation. NGII (National Geographic Information Institute) has been studying for improvement of digital map that was constructed by the result of the 1st NGIS project. Through the construction of clean digital map, NGII constructed Framework Data to three kinds of formats (NGI, NDA, NRL). Framework Data was contained to other database, and provided the reference system of location or contents for combining geoinformation. Framework Data is consist of Data Set, Data Model and UFID (Unique Feature Identifier). It will be achieved as national infrastructure data. This paper attempts to explore a method of the update to practical framework data with realtime geoinformation on feature's creation, modification and destruction managed by 'Feature management agency' using UFID's process. Furthermore, it suggests a method which can provide important data in order to plan the Framework update with the land change ratio.

Although the utilization of drone photogrammetry that can generate spatial information using ultra-high-resolution images is increasing in the civil engineering and construction fields, analysis of areas that can be used is insufficient. Therefore, this study attempted to determine how far drone photogrammetry can be used in the civil engineering and construction fields by applying a detailed analysis method. The status map and cross-sectional map were actually vectorized using drone photogrammetry outcomes, compared and analyzed with the results acquired in the field, and the qualitative aspects of traffic safety facilities were analyzed to determine their usability. As a result, the accuracy of the plane position using drone photogrammetry was reliable, but the height accuracy was difficult to trust. Accordingly, although there is a possibility of preparing a status map, the use of it in areas requiring high accuracy such as cross-sectional plans was limited, and it is believed that it can be used in the construction management field where qualitative analysis is conducted.
To carry out systematic groundwater assessment, exploration and management and to use these for protection of optimal groundwater yield, a data analysis and management system is required. Thus, the object of this research was to develop and apply software that integrates GIS and groundwater modeling: GISGAM (GIS for groundwater analysis and management system). The GIS program ArcView and the groundwater-modeling program MODFLOW were used for the GISGAM. The program components consist of a pre-processor, a processor, and a post-processor for groundwater modeling. In addition, GIS functions such as input, manipulation, analysis and output of data were embedded into the program. In applying the program to pilot area, topography, geology, soil, land use and well databases, and a groundwater flow model were constructed for the study area. This case study revealed the advantage and convenience of groundwater modeling using GIS capabilities. By integrating GIS and the groundwater model, the impact of changing values of hydrogeological constants on model results could be more easily evaluated.
Techniques for rock slope management and assessment must be developed for the prevention and mitigation of rock fall hazards. To enable this, the rock discontinuity such as fault and joint data must be surveyed, analysed and managed. For this, the discontinuities were detected by automatic and semi-automatic method using DEM and ortho-rectified image of rock slope and the rock slope analysis and management system was developed using GIS. Using the system, slope locations and discontinuities data were constructed to spatial database. The system is consist of ‘Data Management’, ‘Rock Slope DB’, ‘Basic Information’, ‘Image Processing’, ‘Image Analys ing’, ‘Edit’, ‘View’, ‘Theme’, ‘Graphic’, ‘Window’ and ‘Help’. The system was developed using avenue of ArcView 3.2.
In this study, it aims to research for unified system of "the surveying and geospatial information management" and new National geoSpatial Information Infrastructure(NSDI) as new paradigm against the strategy of "global geospatial information management". The country's existing NGIS projects and the policies of spatial information were examined in this paper, then it was defined newly by modification of NSDI's data coverage with bottom-up method. The new NSDI strategy is based on large scale digital map which was influenced by the local and global trend such as open data, e-Government, Earth observation, etc. (refer to Fig. 1). It was also suggested with new concept of NSDI model that the public-private sharing data can be added to digital map on equal term with spatial core data. (refer to Fig. 2) It is proposed the institutional model of MOLIT(Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport) as new concept of NSDI which was applied(refer to Fig. 4). The new model is improving localization and reinforcing cooperation system with not only the other departments within the MOLIT but also the other ministries(forestry, environment, agriculture, heritage, etc.) from independent operation system as a part informatization of land, infrastructure and transport. At the new SDI institutional model of the MOLIT, the spatial information is reorganized as common data infrastructure for all applications, Goverment 3.0 can be feasible according to common data related to government agencies and local government's data vertically or horizontally. And then, it can be practical strategy model to integrate and link all the map and the register which are managed by the laws and institutions if this unified system as a common data can include all spatial core data(digital map), such as base map data of NGA(national gespatial agency), land data and facility data of local government.

The world which based on knowledge and information is changing significantly. In the various knowledge and information, the importance of GSIS has increased for efficient application and management of country. The Geomatics has made a change rapidly, observation methods have improved too. The existing acquisition of Geoinformation depend on aerial photogtaphs, but new technology Jike application of high resolution satellite images. SAR and LiDAR, is the fastest. especially, LiDAR surveying is most advanced active observation technology and Geoinfomtation is acquired by reflection of its laser pulse. In this study. the position accuracy of extracted building from LiDAR was evaluated by GPS surveying, then each data was made comparison between LiDAR's and GPS's data. After processing. the result of this study will be suggested basic data about application.

Faults are fractures along which there is visible offset by shear displacement parallel to the fracture surface. Faults can occur as single discrete breaks, but where the rock has been repeatedly faulted, or where the rock is especially weak, no discrete break may be evident. What forms instead is a fault zone composed of countless subparallel and interconnecting closely spaced fault surfaces. Faulting is fundamentally a brittle mechanism for achieving shear displacement. At deep crustal levels where rocks tend to deform plastically under conditions of elevated temperature and confining pressure, shear displacement is achieved by and development of shear zones. In this paper authors propose the fault grade in Korea.

Accurate measurement of seafloor topography plays a crucial role in developing marine industries such as maritime safety, resource exploration, environmental protection, and coastal management. The seafloor topography is constructed using side scan sonar (SSS) and single beam echosounder (SBES) or multibeam echosounder (MBES), which transmit and receive ultrasound waves through a device attached to a marine survey vessel. However, the use of a sonar system is affected by noise pollution areas, and the single beam has a limited scope of application. At the same time, the multibeam is mainly applicable for depth observation. For these reasons, it is difficult to determine the boundaries and areas of seafloor topography. Therefore, this study proposes a method to improve the backscatter data of multibeam echosounder, which has a relationship with the seafloor quality, by using digital image processing to classify the shape of the underwater surface.
Geological information can be used for various purposes, such as the mine development, landuse, environmental protection, construction industry, and the development of water resource. Although geological information is highly useful for developing industrial raw materials, national land management and people's welfare, there is no unified public institution in charge of collecting and managing geological information at the national level. Thus, the government is to collect geological information, to construct database and to utilize and to distribute the information in a long-term and systematic way, the purpose of this study is to propose strategies for establishing an integrated geological information management system. In this study, we A) analyzed the current state and management of geological information in Korea and other countries; B) surveyed demand for geological information and analyzed correlations; C) drew up a conceptual diagram of the national integrated geological information management system; and D) developed strategies for establishing the national integrated geological information management system.
