  • Many systems are developing for the realization of NCW(Network Centric Warfare). UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Network is attracting attention in a lot of military applications. In general, UAVs have the potential to create an ad-hoc network and greatly reduce the hops from source to destination. However, UAV networks exhibit unique properties such as high mobility, high data rate, and real time service. The routing protocols are required to design the multi-hop routing protocols that can dynamically adapt to the requirements of UAV network. In this paper we analyse Geographic Routing Protocol is based on geographical distance between source and destination for efficient and reliable transmission. Geographic Routing Protocol is evaluated in video service scenarios with TDMA model in our simulation. The simulation results show that the performance of Geographic Routing Protocol is better than the MANET Routing Protocol in terms of packet received ratio, end to end delay, and routing traffic sent.

  • Geographic routing protocols are very attractive choice for routing in wireless sensor networks because they have been shown to scale better than other alternatives. Under certain ideal conditions, geographic routing works correctly and efficiently. The most commonly used geographic routing protocols include greedy forwarding coupled with face routing. Existing face routing algorithms use planarization techniques that rely on the unit-graph assumption. In real world, many conditions violate the unit-graph assumption of network connectivity, such as location errors, communication voids and radio irregularity, cause failure in planarization and consequently face routing. In this paper, we propose the direction-based geographic routing, which enables energy efficient routing under realistic conditions without planarization techniques. Our proposed approach is for the case in which many sensors need to collect data and send it to a central node. Simulation results show that the protocol exhibits superior performances in terms of energy consumption, delivery success rate, and outperforms the compared protocols.

  • In conventional geographic mapping system, it is needed to input many already existing geographic map into computer system for secure and efficient maintence. Because of large map data, it is required to construct layers from map image for easy display, fast retreval and efficient storage. Thus this paper represents a method of the extracting features from contour map and constructing three layers. The layers are symbol, building, contour line. Experimental results are presented confirming the method's high extraction.

  • Watershed topographical information is required in hydrologic analysis, supporting efficient hydrologic model operation and managing water resources. Watershed topographical data extraction systems based on desktop GIS are abundant these days placing burdens for spatial data processing on users. This paper describes development of a Web-based Geographic Information Systems that can delineate the Geum River sub-basins and extract watershed topographical data in real time. Through this system, users can obtain a watershed boundary by selecting outlet location and then extracting topographical data including watershed area, boundary length, average altitude, slope distribution about the elevation range with Web browsers. Moreover, the system provides watershed hydrological data including land use, soil types, soil drainage conditions, and NRCS(Natural Resources Conservation Service) curve number for hydrologic model operation through grid overlay technique. The system operability was evaluated with the hydrological data of WAMIS(Water Management Information System) with the government operation Web site as reference data.

  • The National Geographic Information Institute (NGII) in korea, through the National Geographic Information System (NGIS) Program, has prepared to generate and disseminate digital elevation data for Korea. This is a pilot research to propose a policy for production, maintenance, and supply of Korea Digital Elevation Data(KDED). Customer demands for accuracy and resolution of DEM was surveyed through a questionnaire. In order to investigate the quality, the technical efficiency and the production cost, a tentative DEM in a small test site was generated based on digital topographic maps (original paper map scale 1:5,000), analytical plotter, and LIDAR. The Accuracy standard for KDED was derived based on source data generation methods. As a result of this research, a uniformly spaced grid model was recommended for KDED. Its preferable grid space is 5m in urban areas and its vicinity, and 10m in field and mountainous area. LIDAR has been valuated as a proper KDED generation method fulfilling customers' demands for the accuracy.

  • A CELTHYM(CEll-based Long-Term HYdrologic Model), a pre-processor and a post processor that can be integrated with geographic information system ( GIS) were developed to predict the stream flow of the small watershed. The CELTHYM was calibrated and verified with measured runoff data at the WS # 1 and WS # 3 that are testing water sheds of Seoul Nat' 1 Univ., dept. of agricultural engineering, in Ansan city, Kyunggi province, South Korea. The results of tests are in good agreement with measured data and usable for other application, but the component of direct runoff and water balance on paddy fields need more study.

  • Oil Field Geographical Information System (OFGIS) manages multiple spatial data, attribute data, and topographic data, which include almost every kind of ground info rmation and underground information. Subsystems managed by OFGIS include petroleum exploration subsystem (PESS), petroleum development and engineering subsystem (PDESS), petrochemical subsystem (PCSS), petroleum storage and transportation subsystem (PSTSS), petroleum sale subsystem (PSSS), etc. A basic OFGIS framework consists of oil field infrastructure coverage (OFIC), oil field specialized information coverage (OFSIC) and oil field synthesis and decision service coverage (OFSDSC). Basic function of OFGIS includes database management, geographic information management, spatial information processing and application.

  • The importance of Fundamental Geographical Information Framework for Digital City (FGFDC) is analysed, it provides all city agencies and units with uniform geographic references. Six kind of data are chosen as the core data sets of a FGDC, a web-based distributed mechanism is constructed to promote data sharing among different agencies. Elementary functional requirements of FGDC are analyzed, so that it can serve as a common distributed urban GIS. A practical FGFDC is developed for Yangzhou Development Administrative Region, and an 3D visualization system is developed within this framework.

  • Hydrological model which is proper to watershed characteristics and analysis purpose must be used when we analyze water resources. But, although proper model is used, if objectivity and reasonability of data is low it is difficult to get good results from the model. So it is very important to decide the data which is used in selected model and estimate parameters by using the applied data. In this study, temporal and spatial data was constructed as standard data of test site and stored in HyGIS (Hydrological Geographic Information System) DB. A system which extracts temporal and spatial data required to run hydrological model from HyGIS DB by connecting TOPMODEL with HyGIS was developed. In this system, we can extract temporal and spatial data which is needed to run TOPMODEL from HyGIS DB and estimate model parameters by using genetic algorithm. We found that HyGIS and the system connected with TOPMODEL was effective to make temporal and spatial data used in TOPMODEL and estimate model parameters. From this study, we suggested the possibility that HyGIS could be applied properly to another hydrological model, too.
