  • A successful design approach for noise barriers should be multidisciplinary because noise reduction goals influence both acoustical and non-acoustical considerations, such as maintenance, safety, physical construction, cost, and visual impact. These various barrier design options are closely related with barrier dimensions. In this study, we have proposed an optimal design method of straight noise barriers using genetic algorithm, providing a barrier having the smallest dimension and achieving the specified noise reduction at a receiver region exposed to the industry and traffic noise, to help a successful barrier design.

  • The investigation deals with of a intermediate process condition hving a bolt-shaped final product where it is required to extend tool-life in forging. In this study, optimization of the design variables is conducted by a genetic algorithm, where the fitness values are evaluated on the basis of FEM analysis model. The approach is applied to the determination of the intermediate process conditions which are optimal with regard to minimization of peak die pressure.

  • 본 논문에서는 메쉬(Mesh)형 광 네트워크에서의 전방송(All-to-All Broadcast)을 위한 라우팅(Routing) 문제를 다루고 있다. n$\times$m 으로 구성된 메쉬(Mesh)형 구조에서 자기 자신을 제외한 모든 노드로의 방송을 위하여 구성되는 Path가 최단 거리를 유지하면서 Path들이 지나가는 각각의 링크(Link)에 대한 사용빈도를 초대한 균등하게 분포시키는 유전자 알고리즘(Genetic Algorithms)을 제안하였다.

  • Dynamic Neural Unit"(DNU) based upon the topology of a reverberating circuit in a neuronal pool of the central nervous system. In this thesis, we present a genetic DNU-control scheme for unknown nonlinear systems. Our methodis different from those using supervised learning algorithms, such as the backpropagation (BP) algorithm, that needs training information in each step. The contributions of this thesis are the new approach to constructing neural network architecture and its trainin.

  • This paper presents a method on applying Genetric Algorithms(GA), which is a well-know high performance optimizing algorithm, to construct the self-organizing fuzzy logic controller. Fuzzy logic controller considered in this paper utilized Sugeno's hybrid inference method. which has an advantage of simple defuzzification process in the inference engine. Genetic algorithm is used to find the iptimal parameters in the FLC. The proposed approach will be demonstrated using 2 d. o. f robot manipulator to verify its effectiveness.

  • A CGH is a hologram generated by computer. It is widely applied to wavefront manipulation, synthesis, optical information processing and interferometer. Some methods have been used to determine the optimum phase pattern to achieve high diffraction efficiency and uniform intensity such as DBS (Direct Binary Search), SA (Simulated Annealing), GA(Genetic Algorithm).   • The H$_{\infty}$ algorithms of the mixed weight sensitivity is used for the robust design of the reactor power control system. The mixed weight sensitivity method requires the selection of the proper weighting functions for the loop shaping in frequency domain. The complexity of the system equation and the non-convexity of the problem make it very difficult to determine the weighting functions. The genetic algorithm which is improved and hybridized with the simulated annealing is applied to determine the weighting functions. This approach permits an automatic calculation and the resultant system shows good robustness and performance.

  • We propose a path planning method to improve the productivity of SMT (surface mount technology) inspection machines with an area camera. A unified method is newly proposed to determine the FOV clusters and camera sequence simultaneously. The proposed method is implemented by a hybrid genetic algorithm to increase the convergence speed. Comparative simulation results are then presented to verify the usefulness of the proposed algorithm.

  • Genetic algorithms have proved to be a versatile and effectvie approach for solving optimization problems. Nevertheless, there are many situations that the genetic algorithm does not perform particularly well, and so various methods of hybridization have been proposed. Thus, this paper develop a hybrid method and a precision search method around optimum in the gentic algorithm and the conventional optimization techniques in finding global or near optimum.
