  • This paper deals with the design method of 1kW-Switched Reluctance Generator (SRG) for wind power applications. The coefficient of the output equation is determined according to the purpose specification for design of SRG. Detailed design is carried out, after selecting the outer diameter of the rotor on the basis of the output equation. The generation characteristic of designed generator is verified by using Finite Element Method (FEM).

  • Antarctic King Sejong Station was established in King George Island, the South Pole in 1988, and has been executing the monitoring studies on the change of antarctic natural environment. As an available power, the wind energy generator has been used in the form of hybrid with mainly diesel generator. Because the wind generation power sharply changes by wind energy, it must be careful during the system operation. When the power system becomes stable, the output performance of wind energy generator becomes stable. But, in case of unstable system, the errors frequently occur on the wind energy generator and it badly impacts the power system by output of wind energy generator. The purpose of this paper is to analyze suitability while operating the system of 10kW wind energy generator at Antarctic King Sejong Station, an isolated area, and to analyze the problem and improvements by power quality.

  • A brush-less type synchronous generator driven by an internal-combustion engine is used for emergency electric source. These types of generators have to maintain a certain range of output voltage even under the sudden load change conditions such as full load application and removal. This paper describes a method for suppressing the output voltage of a synchronous generator that operates excessively when the load fluctuates. The method used in this paper is a feedforward control method in which the main voltage control consists of a feedback loop using a typical PID controller and the load current is detected as a disturbance element and compensated directly. A feedforward system is constructed in which the load current is regarded as disturbance, and the appropriate feedforward controller configuration and parameters are found through simulation. Finally, it can be seen through the experiment that the feedforward control is performed properly. It can be seen that the generator terminal voltage is recovered to the steady state in a short period of time as compared with the existing PID control method even when the entire load of the generator is changed.

  • This paper presents a stand-alone variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) ship shaft generator system based on a brushless doubly-fed machine (BDFM). In this system, the output voltage amplitude and frequency of the BDFM are kept constant under a variable rotor speed and load by utilizing a well-designed current vector controller to regulate the control winding (CW) current. The control scheme is proposed, and the hardware design for the control system is developed. The proposed generator system is tested on a 325 TEU container vessel, and the test results show the good dynamic performance of the CW current vector controller and the whole control system. A harmonic analysis of the output voltage and a fuel consumption analysis of the generator system are also implemented. Finally, the total efficiency of the generator system is presented under different rotor speeds and load conditions.

  • This paper propose a improved operating characteristics of the 5-phase 5kW within developed the surface permanent mount synchronous generator (SPMSG) in order to make a study of a polyphase ac motors keeping hold of more advantages. The developed manufacturing motor was necessary to do improvement of voltage regulation, efficiency, operating characteristics, and so on at the rated load. There are remake a redesigned and distributed stator winding connection without changing the frames of stator and rotor core in previous established generator by a repeat tests. There are shown a amplitude and waveform of the generated electromotive force, FFT analysis of harmonics within output voltages, and reviewing a experiment results in load of resistive and 5-phase induction motor by variable generator output frequency.

  • Recently, Use of Auxiliary power unit(APU) is increasing by growing demand for improvement of insufficient electric power and installation of emergency generation devices in military tracked vehicles and civil markets. And the trend is that the units are demanded for smaller size, lighter weight and higher output power, etc to suit consumer demands. To achieve these, it is essential to develop high performance system. Therefore, in this study, it was conducted in numerical analysis to investigate flow characteristics of rotor in APU generator. Also output performance of APU applied on the rotor is analyzed by experimental method. As the result, higher rotating speed of rotor caused high air flow rate at suction and it leads to linear increase of discharging flow rate. The maximum theoretical power was achieved at 12 $m^3$/min of flow rate and, at that time, output power of generator was about 7.825 kW. Also, it can be confirmed the stabilization of output performance is achieved in about 2 seconds by experiment.

  • This paper presents a 2 GHz pulse generator in balanced configuration for ground penetrating radar(GPR). In order to improve the input and output matching, the pulse generator is designed in balanced configuration with $90^{\circ}$ hybrid couplers. The designed pulse generator was fabricated using PCB process. The fabricated pulse generator draws 1 mA current from a 5 V power supply with 27.6 % efficiency. The measured output voltage swing is $3.7V_{pp}$ at 100 MHz pulse repetition frequency(PRF). The pulse width is 2 ns and the input and output return loss is more than 10 dB at the operating frequency of 1.7~2.6 GHz.

  • In this study, the non-contact type bicycle generator system considering the recharge is developed to use the eco-friendly energy source when the bicycle is operating. The following three main factors are considered in this study. One of factors is that the intensity of the rotating magnet is in the range of 2,700~4,300 [Gause]. The next factor is that the separation distance of rotating magnet and bicycle rim is in the range of 1.5-3.0 mm. The last factor is that the pedaling speed is in the range of 55 RPM [Wheel speed 5.6Km]~150 RPM [Wheel speed 15.25Km] consirering with the 5 staged gear transmission. The obtained results are as followed. (1) The generator output voltage gradually increases from 3V to 10V with the pedaling speed increases, at the separation distance is less than 2.5 mm and the operating voltage of the LED lamp is generated at a pedaling speed of 60 RPM or more. (2) The output current of the generator increases from 20mA to 40mA with the pedaling speed increases, at a separation distance is less than 2.0 mm and the operating current of the LED lamp is generated at a pedaling speed of 60 RPM or more. (3) When the separation distance was 3.0 mm, the output voltage and current are significantly lower than those of the bicycle LED lamp is generated. (4) The charging time is expected to be 12.24 ~ 17.65 hours when the magnitude of the magnet is 3,400[Gauss] at a pedaling speed of 55 RPM or more. (5) As a result of this study, it is thought that the non-contact type bicycle generator system considering the recharge can replace the conventional friction power generation system.

  • This paper derives a condition foe constant voltage i constant frequency generation of doubly-fed induction generator. The condition is varied by the magnitude of output voltage, load current and its power factor, slip of the machine. Magnitude of output voltage is controlled by exiting voltage which is caculated by derived equation from operating condition. frequency of output voltage is controlled by injecting slip frequency to the rotor which is the difference between wanted output frequency and rotor frequency.

  • This paper deals with the output characteristics of resonant PWM inverter type X-ray generators connected to different DC power units i.e. a single phase full bridge rectifier, a three phase full bridge rectifier and a power storage unit(PSU). The quality of X-ray beam depend on the pulsation waveforms of DC voltage supplied to the X-ray tulbe. In a X-ray generator, the waveforme of DC output voltage can be affected from hramonic distortion of DC input power. When a tube voltage waveform is distorded, the property of X-ray beam such as reproducibility, direcibility and doesage can be reduced. Therefore, we compared DC output waveforms and doesages with three thpe of DC power units and show the experimental results in this paper
