The marine industry contributes a large proportion of the air pollutant emissions along coastal regions, and this air pollution has been strongly linked to cardiovascular diseases and other illnesses. To alleviate the problem, many ports have installed alternative maritime power (AMP) facilities that enable onboard marine auxiliary engines with generators (gensets) to be shut down while a ship is at berth. This study compared the emissions from conventional gensets with those from AMP facilities, focusing on four emission types: greenhouse gases (GHG), sulphur oxides (SOX), nitrogen oxides (NOX), and particulate matter (PM). Both direct (combustion / operation) and indirect (upstream) emissions were considered together for the emission comparison. The results showed that AMP has lower emissions than conventional onboard gensets, and this benefit is highly dependent on the electricity generation mix onshore. On average, GHG emissions could be reduced by about 18.3 %, while the other emissions (SOX, NOX, and PM) would decrease more dramatically (88.4 %, 90.1 %, and 91.5 %, respectively). Additionally, future benefits of the AMP would increase due to the expansion of renewable energies. Thus, this study supports the potential of AMP as a promising solution for environmental concerns at ports worldwide.
Recently, Korea's electric industry has experienced substantial changes in its structure and function including the introduction of competition in the generation sector. Korea is in the early stages of market competition where the market price is determined by generation costs. In the future, the market Price will be determined by generators'bids. Therefore, the generators'profit is determined by market pool price, the prospects of pool price are very important for new capacity investment decision made by generators and IPPS. This study analyzes hourly marginal costs and LOLP considering basic generation mix and characteristics develops the relationship of pool price and Profit by generation-type using the change in reserve margin, and proposes basic direction for profits variation and supply-demand analysis in the electricity market in future.
Cameroon is a lower middle-income country with a population of 25.87 million inhabitants distributed over a surface area of 475,442 ㎢. Cameroon has very rich potentials in renewable energy resources such as solar energy, wind energy, small hydropower, geothermal energy and biomass. However, renewable energy constitutes less than 0.1% of energy mix of the country. The energy generation mix of Cameroon is dominated by large hydropower and thermal power. Cameroon ratified the Paris Agreement in July 2016 with an ambitious 20% greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction. This study attempts to investigate some renewable energy deployment policy-instruments that could enable the country enhance renewable energy deployment, gain energy independence, fulfill Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and achieve Sustainable Development Goals. It begins with an analysis of the status of energy sector in Cameroon. It further highlights the importance of renewable energy in mitigating climate change by decarbonizing the energy mix of the country to fulfill NDC and SDGs. Moreover, this study proposes some renewable energy deployment policy-solutions to the government. Solar energy is the most feasible renewable energy source in Cameroon. Feed-in Tariffs (FiT), is the best renewable energy support policy for Cameroon. Finally, this study concludes with some recommendations such as the necessity of building an Energy Storage System as well a renewable energy information and statistics infrastructure.
It is a difficult task for decision makers(DMs) to choose an appropriate release plan which balances the conflicts between water storage and hydro-electric energy generation in a multi-reservoir operation problem. In this study, we proposed a DEA-based ranking procedure by which the DM can rank the potential alternatives and select the best solution among the Pareto-optimal solutions. The proposed procedure can resolve the problem of mix inefficiency that may cause errors in measuring the efficiency of alternatives. We applied the proposed procedure to the multi-reservoir operation problem for the Geum-River basin and could choose the best efficient solution from the Pareto-set which were generated by the Coordinated Multi-Reservoir Operating Model.
While member sections of concrete structures of nuclear power plant are big, water-cement ratio is small. Consequently, the huge amount of heat generation and high viscosity could be occurred. These might reduce constructibility of nuclear power plant. In order to obtain improved concrete mix proportion on nuclear power plant structures, the properties of normal concrete is compared with self-compacting concrete. In addition, various mixes of self-compacting concrete utilizing polycarboxylic acid based admixture is mutually compared and estimated.
Every effort is now being exerted in industrialized and developing countries to reduce emission of greenhouse gases from electric power sector. In this paper, we provide supply-side resource mix strategies in the long-term generation expansion planning under the expected greenhouse gas regulations. Under the environmental regulations, we explore the least-cost generation expansion plan of Korea and determine the composition of future resource mixes. Our analysis is performed on the basis of the revised WASP package which can evaluate emission of carbon dioxide from each power plant. The evaluation process of carbon dioxide emissions, which can consider the efficiency and operating conditions of each generator simultaneously, has been incorporated into the probabilistic production cost simulation module of WASP.

This study analyzes hourly marginal costs and LOLP considering basic generation mix and characteristics, develops the relationship of pool price using the above in competition market, and proposes basic direction for profits variation and supply-demand analysis in the electric market in future.
Recently, heating using oil and gas has been continuously replaced by that using midnight power in home, due to increase of oil price. Therefore, midnight power apparatus has been more and more spreading. However, cost of midnight power services is increasing because high fuel cost of generation facilities by existing power generation mix are charge of midnight power services. This paper analyzes trends about rapidly increasing midnight power in winter, and evaluate load pattern and supply cost of midnight power. Also, this study proposes rate direction of midnight power according to introduction of competitiveness system with B/C evaluation of midnight power cost.
Typology in Contemporary Architecture wants to escape from the classical typology that has the problems about specific program of structuralism, typical repeatation of customary form. As visible and non-visible things are appeared in contemporary architecture through the analysis of the inner system involving development process of changing itself, typology of contemporary is utilized at a tool of form generation in the process of architect. And it notes that the structural properties of the building system. The form of contemporary architecture has the new connecting strucure not reduced to existing ones. It carries out generative access as a device in order to solve the complexity of society. From this perspective, we analyze the process of projects of contemporary architects that can be typological strategy not representation of post geometric form but a tool of form generation in architectural process. As a result, we can find four characteristics of typology as a tool of form generation; 'interference and mix of program', 'continous slabs', 'rearrangement through relationship setting', 'transformation of multi-layers'. These are expanding to the process that reflect history and context or infer from morphology. Therefore, typology as architectural process of form generation overcomes morphological typology of classical typology and suggests that the different architectural approach having potential possibility.
