A personal low-frequency stimulator is a portable device to relax muscle pains of a person. The stimulator generates combined low-frequency pulses to be applied to pads attached to painful muscles. This paper reports a development of such device with its characteristic analyses. The major components of our stimulator are MCU, high-voltage generating circuit part, high-voltage switching circuit part, input switch part and display unit. High-voltage generating circuit is designed by using a boost converter circuit and allows user control of the output voltage. High-voltage switching circuit, controlled by MCU, generates output voltage to be applied to pads. Input switch part is composed of power supply, intensity selection, mode selection and memory. Display unit adopts a text LCD module to display modes, Intensity, output frequency and user set-up time. Our designed safety circuit, to protect human body from possible electric shock, slowly increases the output voltage to the selected output intensity. It continuously checks the output pulse shape and disable the output when dangerous pulses are detected. This paper also shows some experimental results.
This paper deals with the problem of generating optimal polynomials using Genetic Programming(GP). The polynomial should approximate nonlinear response surfaces. Also, there should be a consideration regarding the size of the polynomial, It is not desirable if the polynomial is too large. To build small or medium size of polynomials that enable to model nonlinear response surfaces, we use the low order Tailor series in the function set of GP, and put the constrain on generating GP tree during the evolving process in order to prevent GP trees from becoming too large size of polynomials. Also, GAGPT(Group of Additive Genetic Programming Trees) is adopted to help achieving such purpose. Two examples are given to demonstrate our method.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to design a framework for generating one-class classification algorithm based on Hyper-Rectangle(H-RTGL) in a distributed environment connected by network. Methods: At first, we devised one-class classifier based on H-RTGL which can be performed by distributed computing nodes considering model and data parallelism. Then, we also designed facilitating components for execution of distributed processing. In the end, we validate both effectiveness and efficiency of the classifier obtained from the proposed framework by a numerical experiment using data set obtained from UCI machine learning repository. Results: We designed distributed processing framework capable of one-class classification based on H-RTGL in distributed environment consisting of physically separated computing nodes. It includes components for implementation of model and data parallelism, which enables distributed generation of classifier. From a numerical experiment, we could observe that there was no significant change of classification performance assessed by statistical test and elapsed time was reduced due to application of distributed processing in dataset with considerable size. Conclusion: Based on such result, we can conclude that application of distributed processing for generating classifier can preserve classification performance and it can improve the efficiency of classification algorithms. In addition, we suggested an idea for future research directions of this paper as well as limitation of our work.

Objectives: To investigate safety and health management, conditions in factories or facilities handling radiation-generating devices and radioactive isotopes were reviewed in terms of regulations of radiation safety control in Korea. Radiation exposure levels generated at those facilities were directly measured and evaluated for establishing an effective safety and health management plan. Methods: Government organizations with laws and systems of radiation safety and health were investigated and compared. There are three laws governing radiation-related employment such as occupational safety and health acts, nuclear safety acts, and medical service acts. We inspected 12 workplaces as research objects:four workplaces that manufacture and assemble semiconductor devices, three non-destructive inspection workplaces that perform inspections on radiation penetration, and five workplaces in textile and tire manufacturing. Monitoring of radiation exposure was performed through two methods. Spatial and surface monitoring using real-time radiation instruments was performed on each site handling radiation generating devices and radioactive isotopes in order to identify radiation leakage. Results: According to the occupational safety and health act, there is no legal obligation to measure ionizing radiation and set dose limits. This can cause confusion in the application of the laws, because the scopes and contents are different from each other. Surface dose rates in radiation generating devices such as implanters, thickness gages and accelerators, which were registered according to nuclear safety acts, using surveymeters, and seven of 36 facilities(19.4%) exceeded the international standards for surface radiation dose of $10{\mu}Sv/hr$. Conclusions: The results showed that occupational health and safety acts require a separate provision for measuring and assessing the radiation exposure of workers performing radiation work. Like noise, ionizing radiation will also periodically be controlled by including it in the object factors of work-environment measurement.

Experiments were carried out to study the operation characteristics of a regenerator with a thermo-syphon pump and a surface-flame burner for a lithium bromide (LiBr)-water absorption heat pump. A cylindrical-shape metal-fiber burner and commercial grade propane were used. The emission of carbon monoxide and nitric oxide was measured by a combustion gas analyzer. Ther regeneration rate of water vapor as a refrigerant was measured. It could be as a reference value showing the performance of the regenerator. The circulation rate of the LiBr-water solution was also measured from both the tanks for the weak-and the strong-solution. Using a refractometer, the LiBr concetration in the solution was calculated from the measured refractory index of the solution. Temperature of the solution and the condensed water was recorded at several points in the experimental apparatus with thermocouples, using a personal computer. This data collecting system for measuring temperature was calibrated with a set of standard thermometers. The generating rate of water vapor as refrigerant increased linearly with heat supplied. It was about 4.0g/s with the heat supplied at a rate of 16,500kcal/h. The circulation rate of LiBr solution also increases with the heat supplied. The difference in LiBr concentrations between the weak and the strong solution was in the range of 1 to 5% when the concentration of the strong solution was about 60%. It was dependent upon both the heat supplied and the circulation rate of the solution. The initial concentration and the level of the LiBr solution in the regenerator were measured and recorded before experiments. The effect of them on the generating rate of water vapor and the circulation rate of the solution was also studied. The generating rate of water vapor was not strongly dependent upon both the level of the LiBr solution and the initial LiBr concentration. However, the concentration difference of the solution increases with the initial level of the LiBr solution.

Objectives: In Korea, an average of 258 workers claim compensation for their noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) on an annual basis. Indeed, hearing disorder ranks first in the number of diagnoses made by occupational medical check-ups. Against this backdrop, this study analyzed the impact of 19 types of noise-generating machines and equipment on the sound pressure levels in workplaces and NIHL occurrence based on a 2009 national survey on work environments. Methods: Through this analysis, a series of statistical models were built to determine posterior probabilities for each worksite with an aim to present risk ratings for noise levels at work. Results: It was found that air compressors and grinding machines came in first and second, respectively in the number of installed noise-generating machines and equipment. However, there was no direct relationship between workplace noise and NIHL among workers since noise-control equipment and protective gear had been in place. By building a logistic regression model and neural network, statistical models were set to identify the influence of the noise-generating machines and equipment on workplace noise levels and NIHL occurrence. Conclusion: This study offered NIHL prevention measures which are fit for the worksites in each risk grade.
In the process of visualizing a point set representing a smooth manifold surface, global illumination techniques can be used to render a realistic scene with various effects of lighting. Thanks to the continuous demand for ray tracing and the development of graphics hardware, dedicated GPUs and programmable pipeline for ray tracing have been introduced in recent years. In this paper, real-time global illumination rendering is studied for a point-set model using ray-tracing GPUs. We apply the moving least-squares (MLS) method to approximate the point set to a smooth implicit surface and render it using global illumination by performing massive ray-intersection tests with the surface and generating shading effects at the intersection point. As a result, a complicated point-set scene consisting of more than 0.5M points can be generated in real-time.
It has been shown that the multiple trees predictors are more accurate in reducing test set error than a single tree predictor. There are two ways of generating multiple trees. One is to generate modified training sets by resampling the original training set, and then construct trees. It is known that arcing algorithm is efficient. The other is to perturb randomly the working split at each node from a list of best splits, which is expected to generate reasonably good trees for the original training set. We propose a new combined multiple regression trees predictor which uses the latter multiple regression tree predictor as a predictor based on a modified training set at each stage of arcing. The efficiency of those prediction methods are compared by applying to high throughput screening of chemical compounds for biological effects.

A general and systematic method of organizing two-dimensional flexible cellular array which is capable of reclizing arbitrary combinational switching function is developed. A set of n functions of n variables is transformed to revalued functions of one variable. This set of functions form a semigroup under the normal operation which is defined in this paper. A systematic method of generating any functions using three base functions is presented. Three basic networks which are capable of realizing three base functions are designed using only one one-dimensional array. The algorithm is presented for lealizing arbitrary combinational switching functions by organizing this basic array in two.dimensional cellular array and by appropriately setting the parameters or the edge of the array.

Recently, due to the hardware computing enhancement such as quantum computers, the amount of information that can be processed in a short period of time is growing exponentially. The cryptography system proposed by Koblitz and Fellows has a problem that it can not be guaranteed that the problem finding perfect dominating set is NP-complete in specific 3-regular graphs because the number of invariant polynomial can not be generated enough. In this paper, we propose an enhanced method to improve the vulnerability in 3-regular graph by generating plenty of invariant polynomials.
