A REDUCIBILITY OF SRIVASTAVA'S TRIPLE HYPERGEOMETRIC SERIES F(3)[x, y, z]

  • When certain general single or multiple hypergeometric functions were introduced, their reduction formulas have naturally been investigated. Here, in this paper, we aim at presenting a very interesting reduction formula for the Srivastava's triple hypergeometric function $F^{(3)}[x,y,z]$ by applying the so-called Beta integral method to the Henrici's triple product formula for hypergeometric series.

  • Summation theorems for hypergeometric series $_2F_1$ and generalized hypergeometric series $_pF_q$ play important roles in themselves and their diverse applications. Some summation theorems for $_2F_1$ and $_pF_q$ have been established in several or many ways. Here we give a proof of Watson's classical summation theorem for the series $_3F_2$(1) by following the same lines used by Rakha [7] except for the last step in which we applied an integral formula introduced by Choi et al. [3].

  • Recently, Parmar [5] introduced a new extension of the ${\tau}$-Gauss hypergeometric function $_2R^{\tau}_1(z)$. The main object of this paper is to study this extended ${\tau}$-Gauss hypergeometric function and obtain its properties including connection with modified Bessel function of third kind and extended generalized hypergeometric function, several contiguous relations, differential relations, integral transforms and elementary integrals. Various special cases of our results are also discussed.

  • Since Mittag-Leffler introduced the so-called Mittag-Leffler function in 1903, due to its usefulness and diverse applications, a variety and large number of its extensions (and generalizations) and variants have been presented and investigated. In this sequel, we aim to introduce a new extension of the Mittag-Leffler function by using a known extended beta function. Then we investigate ceratin useful properties and formulas associated with the extended Mittag-Leffler function such as integral representation, Mellin transform, recurrence relation, and derivative formulas. We also introduce an extended Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative to present a fractional derivative formula for a known extended Mittag-Leffler function, the result of which is expressed in terms of the new extended Mittag-Leffler functions.

  • Closed-form 그린함수를 사용하여 다층 평판 구조체의 산란 문제를 해석할 경우, 주된 어려운 문제점 중의 하나의 대각행렬 요소의 계산결과가 느리게 수렴하고 안정되지 않다는 점이다. 즉, 대각행렬 요소 계산시 전원 자신의 항에 해당되는 $e^{-jkr}/{\gamma}$ 형태의 특이 적분처리를 했음에도 불구하고 계산결과의 느린 수렴도 문제가 몇 개의 복소 영상항에 해당하는 적분과정에 여전히 남아있음을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같은 문제점을 해소하기 위해, 일반화된 지수함수와 2중적분을 극좌표계에서 가우스 구적법을 사용하여 계산할 수 있는 새로운 적분 기법을 제시하고자 한다. 새로운 적분기법을 알로리즘의 안정성과 수렴도에 관하여 본 논문에서 논의되면, 그 타당성을 확인하기 위해 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나의 산란 문제에 이 적분법을 적용해 보았다.

심부시추코어를 활용한 불연속면의 분포 특성 및 통계학적 해석 (Distribution and Statistical Analysis of Discontinuities in Deep Drillcore)

  • 본 연구는 강원도 홍천군 북방면에 위치한 선캄브리아기 변성암 복합체를 대상으로 심부 시추코어의 절리 분포 특성을 정량적으로 분석하였다. 절리의 분포 심도, 경사각, 그리고 파쇄대 내 파편입자 크기를 측정한 후, 통계학적 기법을 적용하여 절리 간격의 확률분포를 도출하였다. 절리면의 경사각 분석 결과, 아수평절리가 가장 우세하게 나타났으며, 절리면 간격 분석에서는 0.5 m 이하의 간격이 지배적이었으며, 중위수 0.09 m, 제1사분위수 0.04 m, 제3사분위수 0.18 m로 나타나 매우 조밀한 절리 발달 양상을 보였다. 통계학적 분석을 위해 double Weibull, exponential, generalized logistic, gamma, lognormal 등 5가지 확률밀도함수와의 피팅을 수행하였으며, 잔차제곱합(sum of squared errors, SSE) 기준 lognormal 분포(SSE = 2.80)가 가장 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 홍천 지역 심부 암반의 절리 특성을 정량적으로 규명함으로써, 지하수 유동 모델링, 사면 안정성 평가, 지하 구조물 설계 등 다양한 지질공학적 응용 분야에 중요한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 향후 연구에서는 현장 응력 측정 및 지구물리학적 탐사 기법을 병행하여 절리 발달과 현지 응력장의 관계를 규명하는 것이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

Residual capacity assessment of in-service concrete box-girder bridges considering traffic growth and structural deterioration

  • The existing concrete bridges are time-varying working systems, where the maintenance strategy should be planned according to the time-varying performance of the bridge. This work proposes a time-dependent residual capacity assessment procedure, which considers the non-stationary bridge load effects under growing traffic and non-stationary structural deterioration owing to material degradations. Lifetime bridge load effects under traffic growth are predicated by the non-stationary peaks-over-threshold (POT) method using time-dependent generalized Pareto distribution (GPD) models. The non-stationary structural resistance owing to material degradation is modeled by incorporating the Gamma deterioration process and field inspection data. A three-span continuous box-girder bridge is illustrated as an example to demonstrate the application of the proposed procedure, and the time-varying reliability indexes of the bridge girder are calculated. The accuracy of the proposed non-stationary POT method is verified through numerical examples, where the shape parameter of the time-varying GPD model is constant but the threshold and scale parameters are polynomial functions increasing with time. The case study illustrates that the residual flexural capacities show a degradation trend from a slow decrease to an accelerated decrease under traffic growth and material degradation. The reliability index for the mid-span cross-section reduces from 4.91 to 4.55 after being in service for 100 years, and the value is from 4.96 to 4.75 for the mid-support cross-section. The studied bridge shows no safety risk under traffic growth and structural deterioration owing to its high design safety reserve. However, applying the proposed numerical approach to analyze the degradation of residual bearing capacity for bridge structures with low safety reserves is of great significance for management and maintenance.
