In active sonar, time delay estimation is used to find the distance between the target and the sonar. Among the time delay estimation methods for active sonar, estimation in the frequency domain is widely used. When estimating in the frequency domain, the time delay can be thought of as a frequency estimator, so it can be used relatively easily. However, this method is prone to rapid increase in error due to noise. In this paper, we propose a new method which applies weighted dictionary and sparsity in order to reduce this error increase and we extend it to two receivers to propose an algorithm for estimating the time delay between two receivers. And the case of applying the proposed method and the case of not applying the proposed method including the conventional frequency domain algorithm and Generalized Cross Correlation-Phase transform (GCC-PHAT) in a white noise environment were compared with one another. And we show that the newly proposed method has a performance gain of about 15 dB to about 60 dB compared to other algorithms.

3개의 매개변수(location, scale, shape)로 이루어진 GEV와 GLO 분포는, 미국의 공식적인 홍수빈도 분포인 Log Pearson Type III와 함께 수문분야에서 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 Monte Carlo 실험을 이용하여 GEV와 GLO 분포에서 서로 다른 두 지점의 유출량 자료를 생성하여 L-CV(L-moment Coefficient of Variation; $\tau_2$)와 L-CS(L-moment Coefficient of Skewness; $\tau_3$)를 추정하였으며, L-moment 추정값들 간의 교차상관$(\tau_2-\tau_2,\;\tau_3-\tau_3,\;\tau_2-\tau_3)$과 유출량 자료간의 교차상관의 관계를 Simple Power 함수를 이용하여 유도하였다.

Spring drought forecasting in South Korea is essential due to the sknewness of rainfall which could lead to water shortage especially in spring when managed without prediction. Therefore, drought forecasting over South Korea was performed in the current study by thoroughly searching appropriate predictors from the lagged global climate variable, mean sea level pressure(MSLP), specifically in winter season for forecasting time lag. The target predictand defined as accumulated spring precipitation(ASP) was driven by the median of 93 weather stations in South Korea. Then, it was found that a number of points of the MSLP data were significantly cross-correlated with the ASP, and the points with high correlation were regionally grouped. The grouped variables with three regions: the Arctic Ocean (R1), South Pacific (R2), and South Africa (R3) were determined. The generalized linear model(GLM) was further applied for skewed marginal distribution in drought prediction. It was shown that the applied GLM presents reasonable performance in forecasting ASP. The results concluded that the presented regionalization of the climate variable, MSLP can be a good alternative in forecasting spring drought.

In this paper, we propose a method to improve the performance of the direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of a speech source using a multiple signal classification (MUSIC)-based algorithm. Basically, the proposed algorithm utilizes a complex coefficient band pass filter to generate the narrow band signals for signal analysis. Also, reverberation component reduction and quadratic function-based response approximation in MUSIC spatial spectrum are utilized to improve the accuracy of DOA estimation. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the well-known generalized cross-correlation (GCC)-based DOA estimation algorithm in the aspect of the estimation error and success rate, respectively.Abstract should be placed here. These instructions give you guidelines for preparing papers for JICCE.
Time delay estimation between two acoustic sensors is widely used in room acoustics and sonar for target position estimation, tracking and synchronization. A cross-correlation based method is representative for the time delay estimation. However, this method does not have enough consideration for the noise added to the receiving acoustic sensors. This paper proposes a new time delay estimation method considering the added noise on the receiver acoustic sensors. From comparing with the existing GCC (Generalized Cross Correlation) method, and adaptive eigen decomposition method, we show that the proposed method outperforms other methods for a colored signal source in the white Gaussian noise condition.
We investigate interconnectedness and the contagion effect of default risk in Asian sovereign CDS markets since the global financial crisis. Using dynamic conditional correlation analysis, we find that there are significant co-movements in Asian sovereign CDS markets; that such co-movements tend to be larger between developing countries than between developed and developing countries; and that in the co-movements intra-regional nature is stronger than inter-regional nature. With the Spillover Index model, we measure contagion probabilities of sovereign default risk in CDS markets of seven Asian countries and find evidence of contagion effects among six of them; Japan is the exception. In addition, we find that these six countries are affected more by cross-market spillovers than by their own-market spillovers. Furthermore, a rolling-sample analysis reveals that contagion in the Asian sovereign CDS markets expands during episodes of extreme economic and financial distress, such as the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy, the European financial crisis, and the US-credit downgrade.
This paper is presents an intelligent control system that visualizes the direction of arrival for hearing impaired using personal mobility, and aims to recognize and prevent dangerous situations caused by sound such as alarm sounds and crack sounds on roads. The position estimation method of sound source uses a machine learning classification model characterized by generalized correlated phase transformation based on time difference of arrival. In the experimental environment reproducing the road situations, four classification models learned after extracting learning data according to wind speeds 0km/h, 5.8km/h, 14.2km/h, and 26.4km/h were compared with grid search cross validation, and the Muti-Layer Perceptron(MLP) model with the best performance was applied as the optimal algorithm. When wind occurred, the proposed algorithm showed an average performance improvement of 7.6-11.5% compared to the previous studies.

Correntropy is a generalized correlation function that contains higher order moments of the probability density function (PDF) than the conventional moment expansions. The criterion maximizing cross-correntropy (MCC) of two different random variables has yielded superior performance particularly in nonlinear, non-Gaussian signal processing comparing to mean squared error criterion. In this paper we propose a new blind equalization algorithm based on cross-correntropy criterion which uses, as two variables, equalizer output PDF and Parzen PDF estimate of a set of randomly generated symbols that complies with the transmitted symbol PDF. The performance of the proposed algorithm based on MCC is compared with the Euclidian distance minimization.
Objective: We evaluated the effect of various patient characteristics and time-density curve (TDC)-factors on the test bolus-affected vessel enhancement on coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). We also assessed the value of generalized linear regression models (GLMs) for predicting enhancement on CCTA. Materials and Methods: We performed univariate and multivariate regression analysis to evaluate the effect of patient characteristics and to compare contrast enhancement per gram of iodine on test bolus (${\Delta}HUTEST$) and CCTA (${\Delta}HUCCTA$). We developed GLMs to predict ${\Delta}HUCCTA$. GLMs including independent variables were validated with 6-fold cross-validation using the correlation coefficient and Bland-Altman analysis. Results: In multivariate analysis, only total body weight (TBW) and ${\Delta}HUTEST$ maintained their independent predictive value (p < 0.001). In validation analysis, the highest correlation coefficient between ${\Delta}HUCCTA$ and the prediction values was seen in the GLM (r = 0.75), followed by TDC (r = 0.69) and TBW (r = 0.62). The lowest Bland-Altman limit of agreement was observed with GLM-3 (mean difference, $-0.0{\pm}5.1$ Hounsfield units/grams of iodine [HU/gI]; 95% confidence interval [CI], -10.1, 10.1), followed by ${\Delta}HUCCTA$ ($-0.0{\pm}5.9HU/gI$; 95% CI, -11.9, 11.9) and TBW ($1.1{\pm}6.2HU/gI$; 95% CI, -11.2, 13.4). Conclusion: We demonstrated that the patient's TBW and ${\Delta}HUTEST$ significantly affected contrast enhancement on CCTA images and that the combined use of clinical information and test bolus results is useful for predicting aortic enhancement.
Acoustic signal is crucial for the autonomous navigation of underwater vehicles. For this purpose, this paper presents a method of acoustic source localization. The proposed method is based on the probabilistic estimation of time delay of acoustic signals received by two hydrophones. Using Bayesian update process, the proposed method can provide reliable estimation of direction angle of the acoustic source. The acquired direction information is used to estimate the location of the acoustic source. By accumulating direction information from various vehicle locations, the acoustic source localization is achieved using extended Kalman filter. The proposed method can provide a reliable estimation of the direction and location of the acoustic source, even under for a noisy acoustic signal. Experimental results demonstrate the performance of the proposed acoustic source localization method in a real sea environment.
