Diagnosis of Cryogenic Pump-Motor Systems Using Vibration and Current Signature Analysis

  • In general, to send out natural gas via a pipeline network across the nation in LNG terminal, high-pressure cryogenic pump supply highly compressed LNG to high-pressure vaporization facilities. The Number of cryogenic pumps determined the send-out amount in LNG receiving terminal. So it is main equipment at LNG production process and should be maintained on best conditions. In this paper, to find out the cause of high vibration at cryogenic pumps-motor system in LNG terminal, vibration spectrum analysis and motor current signature analysis have been performed together. Through the analysis, motor rotor bar problems are estimated by the vibration analysis and confirmed by the current analysis. So, it is demonstrated through the case study in this paper, how performing vibration analysis and current signature analysis together can reliable diagnosis rotor bar problems in pump-motor system.

  • In this paper, the finite element modeling of the RK4 rotor kit system (RK4) and then frequency analysis and transient analysis, and was compared with the actual experimental results. RK4 manufactured by General Electric for the purpose of education and research. It is composed of two shaft, Two shaft is connected using a flexible coupling, one disk is mounted. The analytical model is modeled by using the ANSYS finite element analysis program commercially available. Based on impact hammer test results, material properties and the stiffness of the bearing and coupling was tuned. Considering the operating conditions and the vibration response of the analytical model were compared with experimental results.

  • Applying a general coupled lateral and torsional vibration finite element model of gear pair element this paper intends to look into in detail the coupled lateral and torsional vibration characteristics in a turbo-chiller rotor bearing system, having a bull-pinion speed increasing gear. Investigations have been carried out systematically by comparing the uncoupled and coupled analyses natural vibration frequencies and their mode shapes upon varying the gear mesh stiffness, and also by comparing the strain energies of lateral and torsional vibration modes. Results have shown that some modes may have coupled lateral and torsional mode characteristics as the gear mesh stiffness increases over a certain value, and moreover that their associated dominant modes may be different from their initial modes, i.e., the dominant mode changes from an initial torsional one to a lateral one or from an initial lateral one to a torsional one.

  • There are two kinds of the synchronous motor, one is an induction type motor started without a driving system, the other is the one started with an external driving system. but, both are complicated. Nowadays, in order to devoid for the synchronous motor being complicated in design, line start permanent magnet(LSPM) motors are being developed. The LSPM motor is composed of the rotor that has interior permanent magnet and aluminum bar instead of general rotor. In this paper, we analyzed the characteristics of the LSPM motor which has both characteristics of an induction motor and a synchronous motor, and we compared the the LSPM motor characteristics with the induction motor.

MW 풍력터빈의 피드포워드 제어 (Feed Forward Control of the MW Wind Turbine)

  • his dissertation is on power control system for MW-class wind turbine. Especially, the control purpose is reduction in electrical power and rotor speed. The base control structure is power curve tracking control using variable speed variable pitch operational type. For the reduction of fluctuations, more control algorithm is needed in above rated wind conditions. Because general pitch control system is low dynamic response as compared with the wind speed change. So, this paper introduces about the pitch feed forward control to minimize fluctuations of the electrical power and rotor speed. To maintain rated electrical power, the algorithm of feed forward control adds feed forward pitch amount to the pitch command of power curve tracking control. The effectiveness of the feed forward control is verified through the simulation.

  • 풍력터빈 블레이드는 바람의 운동에너지를 기계적 에너지로 변환하는 장치로써 풍력발전시스템의 출력성능, 에너지변환효율, 하중 및 동적 안정성에 영향을 미칠 수 있기 때문에 주요부품으로 분류된다. 따라서 최적의 블레이드 설계결과를 얻기 위해서는 시스템 특성이 고려된 공력-구조 통합설계가 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 풍력터빈 시스템과의 상호작용이 고려된 블레이드 설계절차를 제안하였고, 2 MW 급 블레이드(KR40.1b)의 공력-구조 통합 설계결과를 제시하였다. 또한 전술한 바와 같이 로터 블레이드에 작용하는 극한하중 및 피로하중은 시스템 운전조건에 따라 가변적이므로 시스템통합하중해석을 위한 2 MW 풍력발전시스템 모델링을 수행하였으며, IEC 61400-1 및 (사)한국선급의 풍력발전기술기준에 따라 수행된 하중해석결과를 제시하였다.

저가형 아날로그 구동장치를 이용한 Switched Reluctance Motor의 스위칭 Duty 가변제어 (Variable Switching Duty Control of Switched Reluctance Motor using Low-Cost Analog Drive)

  • 산업응용에서 정확한 속도 및 전류 제어를 위해 SRM (Switched Reluctance Motor)은 특성상 드라이브에서 고정자의 상 여자와 회전자의 위치를 동기화시키는 것이 매우 중요하다. 따라서 적절한 스위칭 동작을 위해 정확한 회전자 위치정보는 필수적이기에 위치 센서가 필요하다. 회전자 위치에 따라 적정 고정자 권선을 여자 시켜 회전력을 발생시키기고 속도와 위치정보를 이용하여 전동기를 제어하기 위해서 일반적으로 엔코더 (Encoder), 레졸버 (Resolver) 같은 위치센서를 사용한다. 그러나 이러한 센서들은 1) 가격적 측면에서 센서들의 가격이 상당히 크기 때문에 전체 시스템 비용에서 전동기 시스템이 차지하는 비율이 높다. 또한 2) 기계적 측면에서 엔코더나 레졸버와 같은 위치센서들을 고정자측에 부착하여 크기 및 무게를 증가시키고 있다. 결론적으로 SRM을 구동하기 위해서는 회전자 위치정보에 따른 제어가 기본적으로 이루어져야 하며 적용 분야를 고려해서 환경에 따른 SRM 구동 시스템을 설계하는 것이 중요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존의 엔코더 (Encoder), 레졸버 (Resolver)를 사용하는 일반적인 제어시스템에서 벗어나서 저가형 아날로그 구동장치를 설계하여 스위칭 Duty 가변 제어를 통한 SRM의 구동 및 제어 특성을 연구하고자 한다.

Experimental Framework for Controller Design of a Rotorcraft Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Using Multi-Camera System

  • This paper describes the experimental framework for the control system design and validation of a rotorcraft unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Our approach follows the general procedure of nonlinear modeling, linear controller design, nonlinear simulation and flight test but uses an indoor-installed multi-camera system, which can provide full 6-degree of freedom (DOF) navigation information with high accuracy, to overcome the limitation of an outdoor flight experiment. In addition, a 3-DOF flying mill is used for the performance validation of the attitude control, which considers the characteristics of the multi-rotor type rotorcraft UAV. Our framework is applied to the design and mathematical modeling of the control system for a quad-rotor UAV, which was selected as the test-bed vehicle, and the controller design using the classical proportional-integral-derivative control method is explained. The experimental results showed that the proposed approach can be viewed as a successful tool in developing the controller of new rotorcraft UAVs with reduced cost and time.

확장 칼만필터를 이용한 유도전동기의 벡터제어 (Vector control of an induction motor using extended Kalman filter)

  • This paper presents a detailed study of the extended Kalman filter for estimating the rotor speed of an IM drive. The general structure of the Kalman filter is reviewed and the various system vectors and matrices are defined. By including the rotor speed as a state variable, the EKF equations are established from a discrete two axis model of the three-phase induction motor using the software MATLAB/Simulink, simulation of the EKF speed estimation algorithm is carried out for an induction motor drive with direct self control. The investigations show that the EKF is capable of tracking the actual rotor speed provided that the elements of the covariance matrices are properly selected.

불평형 전자기력에 의한 유도전동기 회전자의 안정성해석 (Stability Analysis of Induction Motor Rotor by Unbalanced Electromagnetic Forces)

  • This paper presents a general analytical method for analyzing the instability of unbalanced electromagnetic forces produced in induction motors with an eccentric rotor. The equations to be solved are a set of second order differential equations which give matrices with periodic coefficients that are a function of time due to the unbalanced electromagnetic force. The method is based on an extension of the Floquet theory. A transfer matrix over one period of the motion is obtained. and the stability of the system can be determined with the eigenvalues of the matrix. The analysis results of instability zone were coincided upon comparing that of transfer matrix method with that of rotating frame. Two examples are given. including an industrial application. The results show that the method proposed is satisfactory.
