  • Motivated by bioequivalence studies which involve comparisons of pharmaceutically equivalent dosage forms, we propose a more general decision rule for showing equivalence simultaneously between multiple means and a control mean. Namely, this testing procedure is concerned with the situation in that one must make decisions as to the bioequivalence of an original drug product and several generic formulations of that drug. This general test is developed by considering a spherical confidence region, which is a direct extension of the usual t-based confidence interval rule formally approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. We characterize the test by the probability of rejection curves and assess its performance via Monte-Carlo simulation. Since the manufacturer's main concern is the proper choice of sample sizes, we provide optimal sample sizes from the Monte-Carlo simulation results. We also consider an application of the generalized equivalence test to a repeated measures design.

  • In recent years, the construction of high-rise buildings are promoted. According to these, there are many needs about new technologies to strengthen the building performance and high-strength steel is regarded as one of these for promoting building performance. In Korea, high-strength steels which stress are over 600MPa are on market and in aborad, super high-strength steels over 1000MPa are developing and they expected to promote the building performance. But there are still doubts about applying high-strength steel members because of size effect and worry of brittle fracture. In this reports, we propose results of performance and analysis tests for use with general steel. We propose the characteristic of high-strength steels first and next the results of performance test to show they satisfy the performance that designers expect. And last, we compare the results of test and analysis for acquire the alanysis reliability in non-linear analysis with high-strength steels.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of physical performance on bone mineral density (BMD) in elderly women. Methods: Twenty-one elderly women participated in this study. After testing functional ambulation category (FAC), they were classified into two groups: dependent walking group, those who could not walk independently (FAC 0~2, n=11) and independent walking group those who could walk independently (FAC 3~5, n=10). Outcome measures were: general characteristics, physical performance and BMD. General characteristics included age, body mass index (BMI) and waist-hip ratio. Physical performance included the chair rise test (CRT) and the modified fall efficacy scale (MFES). BMD was represented in the osteoporosis index (OI), T-score and Z-score. BMD was evaluated in calcaneal bone, using OsteoPro. The data was analyzed using SPSS 12.0 software and the Mann-Whitney U test and the Spearman correlation. Results: Age, BMI and waist hip ratio, which all affect BMD, showed no significant differences between groups (p>0.05). But the FAC 3~5 group showed a significantly higher score for CRT, MFES and T-score, compared with the FAC 0~2 group (p<0.05). The T-score was correlated with CRT and MFES scores (p<0.05). Conclusion: There is a positive relationship between physical performance and BMD. Therefore, improved physical performance can have a beneficial effect by reducing osteoporosis in elderly women, considering a positive relationship between physical performance and BMD.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify job stress, resilience, and nursing performance, and to investigate affecting factors of nursing performance on hospital nurses. The subjects consisted of 141 general hospital nurse in the K city. The variables were measured using questionnaires, analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. The average score of job stress was 44.21±9.15, resilience was 2.86±0.65, and nursing performance was 3.78±0.48. The factors influencing on nursing performance were Total Clinical career, Career in present ward, and resilience. The explanation of nursing performance was 37%. These results suggest that it is necessary to consider these factors at the nursing organizational level to promote nursing performance. Also, it is necessary to construct education program that can enhance resilience and find a strategy to realize it.

  • A general program of meanline design and/or performance prediction for centrifugal/mixed-flow compressors is successfully commercialized using various empirical loss models. 4 types of diffusers, 3 types of exit elements, shrouded/unshrouded impellers and real gas option are included in the program capabilities. Total 16 cases of benchmark test results proved its reliability to be effectively utilized in the development processes.

  • In this paper, a study on the principal performance of the purse seiner ship in two vessel formations was conducted. For this task, the outline of the purse seiner fishing system in two vessel formations was reviewed. At the same time, based on the general arrangement plan, hull from of the main vessel was developed. And the stability and ship motion characteristics of the ship design were estimated. Finally, to verify the characteristics of the resistance and self-propulsion coefficient, a model test in a circulating water channel was performed. As n result, it is anticipated that this presentation will be used as the foundation material for research of purse seiner.

  • The headphone is regarded as the most effective means for reproducing 3-dimentional virtual sound due to its channel separation property. However, there still exist several serious problems in headphone reproduction, such as, 'front-back confusion' and in-head localization'. These well-known problems are in general assessed by the subjective test that is based on human judgment. In this paper, an objective test is conducted in parallel with the subject test in order to validate the objective reproduction performance. Such a combined approach may be a more scientific and systematic approach to the reproduction performance.

  • Modern electronic circuits are becoming more vulnerable to damage by surges, and it is required to improve the impulse withstand voltage performance of electrical and electronic equipment. This paper presents the impulse withstand voltage performance of lighting equipment connected to power lines, and the impulse withstand voltage tests for fluorescent lamp, LED lamp and halogen lamp were carried out according to the reference standards under normal service conditions. To conduct performance tests against lightning surge, a combination wave ($1.2/50{\mu}s$ voltage - $8/20{\mu}s$ current) was employed. The test surge was applied between lines or between line and ground of the specimen to be measured. The test surge was applied synchronized at the peak value of the positive and negative AC voltage waves. As a consequence, some specimens satisfied the impulse withstand voltage test criteria, but lighting equipment such as 36W fluorescent lamps, 5W and 5.5W LED lamps and 50W halogen lamp were damaged at the test voltage levels between power lines. It is needed to improve the qualities of lighting equipment to satisfy EMC immunity requirements of equipment for general lighting purposes.

  • Nowadays, the stripping work of form has generated some problems such as increasing total constructing cost result from delayed work schedule by the stripping work of form and environmental issues by wasting the debonded form. According to recent research for form work, it has studied about permanent form to solve economic and environmental problem which is commented above. In this study, high performance permanent form method was developed and tested by adopting COM and TEN specimens adopted on the Compression and Tensile section then the structural behaviour was investigated. In the test result, the specimen adopted the form showed better structural performance than control specimen in the point of ductility, failure mode and ultimate load.

  • In general, it is well known fact that the stone mastic asphalt (SMA) pavement has a high resistance against rutting. However, performance of SMA is not well measured by general method used in the laboratory. The objective of this study is to investigate an applicability of deformation strength ($S_D$) for performance estimation of SMA, and to find out the correlation between rut depth and dynamic stability, and $S_D$ of SMA. This study carried out wheel tracking test and Kim-test with optimum asphalt content (OAC) determined by mix design. The results indicated that the $S_D$ of SMA was very poorer than those of dense-graded asphalt mixtures. $S_D$ showed similar WT dynamic stability and rut-depth level. It was found that Kim-test was not reflected higher rutting resistance of SMA like as indirect tensile strength (ITS) test and Marshall stability test. Also, it was revealed that dynamic stability and rut-depth of WT had some problems to estimate rutting resistance of SMA mixtures.
