환경문제에 대한 일반대중과 전문가의 위해도 인식 관련 요인 (Related Factors of Environmental Risk Perception among General Public and Experts)

  • This study was to investigate factors of risk perception on major environmental issues among general public and environmental experts in Korea. Structured questionnaire surveys were conducted to samples from general public and environmental experts during March and April, 2000. Total numbers of respondents were 773, general public and 353 experts. Analysis of the data showed that risk perception was correlated with health concern, environmental satisfaction, perception of environmental pollution, interest on the environmental issues, knowledge, experiences, and social-cultural consciousness, and so on. Overall environmental risk perception was affected by knowledge on environmental issues, experience of damage from environmental problems, sex and perception of environmental pollution. According to the results, environmental risk perception is not independent from social and psychological factors, and it may be desirable to consider the related factors in the process of risk communication for a more effective risk management or environmental policy.

A PRICING METHOD OF HYBRID DLS WITH GPGPU

  • We develop an efficient numerical method for pricing the Derivative Linked Securities (DLS). The payoff structure of the hybrid DLS consists with a standard 2-Star step-down type ELS and the range accrual product which depends on the number of days in the coupon period that the index stay within the pre-determined range. We assume that the 2-dimensional Geometric Brownian Motion (GBM) as the model of two equities and a no-arbitrage interest model (One-factor Hull and White interest rate model) as a model for the interest rate. In this study, we employ the Monte Carlo simulation method with the Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) parallel computing as the General Purpose computing on Graphic Processing Unit (GPGPU) technology for fast and efficient numerical valuation of DLS. Comparing the Monte Carlo method with single CPU computation or MPI implementation, the result of Monte Carlo simulation with CUDA parallel computing produces higher performance.

  • Image matching is fundamental process to identify conjugate points on the stereo images. However, standard methods or general solutions for matching problem have not been found yet, in spite of long history. Quality of the matching basically depends on uniqueness of the matching entity and robustness of the algorithm. In this study, conjugate points were extracted by implementing interest operator, then area based matching method was applied to the topographical characteristics of the gray value as the matching entities. The matching entities were utilized based on the concept of the intrinsic image.

Comparison on Positive Experiences about Science between Gifted and General Students in Middle School

  • In this study, we investigated the difference in the affective characteristics between science-gifted students and general students through the positive experiences about science (PES) index. We also explored ways to apply the characteristics of gifted classes suggeseted by the teachers of this study, which had a positive effect on science-gifted students, to general science classes. For this study, a PES survey was carried on middle school science-gifted students enrolled in the gifted education center in the central region and general middle school students in the same area who had no experience in gifted education. Based on the survey result, we conducted in-depth interviews with teachers, having teaching experience with both science-gifted and general students. The results revealed that science-gifted students showed a significantly higher PES index than general students in all five areas of PES. The area with the largest difference between the two groups was science-related self-concept and the smallest was science academic emotion. Teachers suggested ways to apply the characteristics of science-gifted classes to general science classes, such as organizing general science classes around inquiry activities, supporting class materials such as MBL or tablets, reconstructing the classes using materials reflecting students' needs, and changing the textbook content and narrative style, to induce students' interest and curiosity. Based on the study results, ways to enhance the PES through science classes for general students were proposed.

수학 학습에 대한 상황적 흥미 요인 탐색 (Exploring the factors of situational interest in learning mathematics)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 수학 학습에 대한 상황적 흥미 요인을 탐색하고, 이 결과를 바탕으로 수학 수업 내의 교수·학습 방법과 교수·학습 활동 및 수업 외의 비교과 활동에 포함되어 있는 상황적 흥미 요인을 밝히는 것이다. 고등학생들을 대상으로 설문을 실시한 결과 수학 학습에 대한 상황적 흥미의 요인은 10개의 세부영역(즐거움, 호기심, 유능감/ 실생활, 타교과, 진로/ 사전 지식, 지식의 축적/ 변환, 해석), 4개의 일반영역(정서, 태도/ 지식, 이해), 2개의 고차영역(정의/인지)으로 추출되었다. 또한 교수·학습 방법과 교수·학습 활동 및 비교과 활동에는 상황적 흥미의 다양한 요인이 포함되어 있음을 밝혔다. 10개의 수학 학습에 대한 상황적 흥미 요인에 개인적 흥미로 발달에 필요한 요인이 공유되어 있었고, 이러한 연구 결과는 수학 학습 흥미 발달에 관한 연구로 확장될 수 있을 것이다.

스케일링 건강보험 급여화 사업에 대한 인식 및 구강건강관리 관심도 변화 (Recognition of the national health insurance for dental scaling and change in oral health care interest)

  • Objectives: To provide necessary information for stable establishment of the national dental scaling reimbursement system. Methods: This study was conducted in 380 adults in their twenties or older for about one month from July 2017. The questionnaires were composed of general characteristics, recognition (awareness) of dental scaling, knowledge of the dental scaling reimbursement program, changes in perception before versus after introduction of the dental scaling reimbursement program, and interest in oral health. To investigate into any factors affecting changes of interest in oral health care after introduction of the dental scaling reimbursement program, a multiple regression analysis was performed. Results: The investigation into any factors affecting changes of interest in oral health care after introduction of the dental scaling reimbursement program showed that higher usual interest in oral health (p<0.001) and the consideration that the dental scaling charges have been affordable after introduction of the scaling reimbursement program (p<0.01) led to more changes in interest in oral health care. Conclusions: The above-mentioned results suggest that the dental scaling reimbursement program has brought favorable changes in the perception of dental scaling. It is expected that the said program will contribute significantly to the improved national oral health, and the Government should make constant efforts to develop it as a long-term policy for oral health improvement.

On Finite Integrals Involving Jacobi Polynomials and the $\bar{H}$-function

  • In this paper, we first establish an interesting new finite integral whose integrand involves the product of a general class of polynomials introduced by Srivastava [13] and the generalized H-function ([9], [10]) having general argument. Next, we present five special cases of our main integral which are also quite general in nature and of interest by themselves. The first three integrals involve the product of $\bar{H}$-function with Jacobi polynomial, the product of two Jacobi polynomials and the product of two general binomial factors respectively. The fourth integral involves product of Jacobi polynomial and well known Fox's H-function and the last integral involves product of a Jacobi polynomial and 'g' function connected with a certain class of Feynman integral which may have practical applications.

General Relativistic Effects on Pulsar Radiation

  • We consider a magnetic dipole model of a pulsar and investigate general relativistic effects on electromagnetic radiation from the pulsar. The general relativistic modifications should be found applicable to many well-known issues in pulsar astronomy. Among other things, the modifications of Goldreich-Julian model and subpulse drift would be of significant interest and challenging issues. The electromagnetic fields in the pulsar magnetosphere are computed by solving Maxwell's equations defined in the strongly curved spacetime around the pulsar, hence containing the properties of strong gravitational effects. On top of these effects, we also investigate the effects from rotation and obliqueness of the pulsar to work out the general relativistic versions of Goldreich-Julian model and subpulse drift.

비모수적 이자율모형 추정과 시장위험가격 결정에 관한 연구 (The Nonparametric Estimation of Interest Rate Model and the Pricing of the Market Price of Interest Rate Risk)

  • 일반적으로 이자율예측모형은 특정한 이자율 분포모형을 가정하여 모수적 방법에 의해 추정되었다. 그러나 특정한 분포모형을 가정한다는 것은 예측능력을 저하시킬 수 있다는 단점이 있다. 따라서 이자율변화에 특정한 분포모형을 가정하지 않는 비모수적 추정이 이자율 예측의 우월한 방법으로 제시되었다. 본 논문에서는 통화안정증권을 대상으로 이자율 예측 모형을 모수적 방법과 비모수적 방법으로 추정한다. 다음 이자율의 시장위험과 채권가격을 결정하여 두 방법 사이에 유의한 차이가 있는가를 분석한다. 1999년 8월 9일부터 2003년 2월 7일까지 통화안정증권의 일별, 주별 자료를 사용하여 분석한다. 액면이자 효과를 제거하기 위해 복리채만을 분석대상으로 한다. 모수적 방법을 이용할 때 이자율 변화의 추세항은 선형으로 나타나지만 변동성항은 이자율변화에 비해 급격히 변하는 비선형을 나타낸다. 비모수적 분석방법을 이용할 때 추세항과 변동성항 모두 이자율 변화에 비해 급격히 변하는 비선형을 나타낸다. 모수적 방법과 비교하여 추세항은 다른 결과를, 그리고 변동성항은 같은 결과를 보인다. 추세항과 변동성항의 예측을 감안하여 이자율의 시장위험 및 채권가격을 산출한 결과 모수적 방법과 비모수적 방법은 유의적인 차이를 보인다. 이는 이자율 및 이자율의 시장위험가격 예측은 비모수적 방법을 사용하는 것이 적합하다는 것을 뜻한다.

통합 환경체험 프로그램이 초등학생의 환경태도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Integrated Environmental Experience Program on Environmental Attitude of Elementary Schoolers)

  • Recently, Korea's interest in environment protection is increasingly growing, and Korea realizes the seriousness of environmental pollution and national movement to minimize the effect is arising. As part of the movement, the need of environmental education in elementary schools is on the rise. This study aims to develop integrated environmental experience programs allowing students to have experience activities in forests, rivers, and seas that they can approach easily around them and to have environmental education through various plays. In addition, the study purposes to compare general educational education programs in actual education in terms of the effect of the program on students' environment attitudes. This study was conducted to 50 fourth graders in two classes of S elementary school in Busan, and the 25-student comparative group had the normal educational education program that is mostly being performed in actual education while the 25-student treatment group had the survey on environmental attitude after a class using an integrated environmental experience program. The survey content is about environmental attitudes, and it consists of six subjects such as general environment, environmental pollution, energy, water resources, recycling, and animal protection and has 7 or 8 items by each subject which is divided into eight sub-items including sensibility, belief, values, spontaneity, criticism, patience, attention and interest. The findings are as follows. First, the integrated environmental experience program has a more positive effect on environmental attitudes than the general educational program. In particular, it is really effective about the topic of animal protection among students' environmental attitudes. Second, the integrated environmental experience program has a more positive effect on values and interests than the general environmental education program.
