Extended Snake Algorithm Using Color Variance Energy (컬러 분산 에너지를 이용한 확장 스네이크 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, an extended snake algorithm using color variance energy is proposed for segmenting an interest object in color image. General snake algorithm makes use of energy in image to segment images into a interesting area and background. There are many kinds of energy that can be used by the snake algorithm. The efficiency of the snake algorithm is depend on what kind of energy is used. A general snake algorithm based on active contour model uses the intensity value as an image energy that can be implemented and analyzed easily. But it is sensitive to noises because the image gradient uses a differential operator to get its image energy. And it is difficult for the general snake algorithm to be applied on the complex image background. Therefore, the proposed snake algorithm efficiently segment an interest object on the color image by adding a color variance of the segmented area to the image energy. This paper executed various experiments to segment an interest object on color images with simple or complex background for verifying the performance of the proposed extended snake algorithm. It shows improved accuracy performance about 12.42 %.

Effects of Integrated Nursing Practice Simulation-based Training on Stress, Interest in Learning, and Problem-Solving Ability of Nursing Students (통합적 간호실무 시뮬레이션 기반 훈련이 간호대학생의 스트레스, 학습흥미, 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: In this study the time point of effects that repeat exposure to simulation-based nursing training has on stress, interest in learning, and problem-solving abilities were identified. Methods: Participants for this study were 75 nursing college students in Seoul. In a preliminary survey data were collected and measured for the general characteristics, stress, interest in learning, and problem-solving abilities of the students. Then, stress was assessed before performance of each of four-rounds of simulation training scenarios. After each simulation round, interest in learning and problem-solving abilities were assessed. Results: With respect to stress, no significant differences were found when comparing the results of the preliminary survey to those of each of the simulation-based training exercises. For the sub-items of interest in learning, interest in nursing knowledge and interest in clinical training significantly increased between the preliminary survey and the $4^{th}$ survey. Interest in lab training increased significantly at the $1^{st}$ survey. Problem solving abilities showed a significant increase from the preliminary at each of the survey points. Conclusion: Increasing the exposure of nursing students to simulation-based training enhances their interest in learning and problem-solving abilities. Therefore it is necessary to have education strategies that includes various simulation experiences for students.

A Study of Gerontological Nursing Curriculum (노인간호학 교과과정에 대한 조사연구)

  • To survey the present status of the gerontological nursing course at three year diploma programs, baccalaureate degree programs(BSN), and graduate programs in Korea, and to analyze the contents of the syllabus and gerontological nursing textbooks to provide the basic data in developing a standard model for gerontological nursing curriculum. Method: Data was collected from all the nursing programs in Korea from Nov. 2000 to Feb. 2001 by mail and fax. Result: The gerontological nursing courses has been offered 36 diploma program, 40 BSN, and 17 graduate programs. And the credits of the gerontological nursing course offered by the program were as follows : one credit (10 diploma and 8 BSN), two credits (22 diploma and 29 BSN), and three credits (1 BSN). The contents of curri- culum were analyzed by comparing the core curriculum of NGNA. The majority of the schools included Gerontological Nursing in General, Theory of Aging, Aging Processes, Care Plan Options, and Common Health Problems. The subjects which very few school cover are Legal/ Ethical Issues, Evaluation, Regulatory & Reimbursement Issues, Education Issues, Nursing Research in Gerontology, and Environmental Issues of Older Adults. There were some differences in these results among diploma courses, BSNs, and graduate schools. The gerontological nursing textbooks contained similar contents to those of the diploma and the baccalaureate programs.

The Effect of Personal Characteristics, Loan Characteristics and Interest Rate Characteristics on the Delinquency Possibility (개인특성·대출특성·금리특성이 연체가능성에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of personal characteristics, loan characteristics, and interest rate characteristics of 2,653 borrowers on the delinquency possibility. In doing so, this study applies both multiple regression and logistic regression models to the data of credit unions in the city of Daegu. Design/Methodology/Approach - The major results of multiple regression analysis using SPSS are as follows. Findings - As for the results of testing the significance of the regression coefficients, it has been found that among the personal characteristics variables membership, credit rating, credit rating changes, and LTV have significant positive (+) effects on the delinquency possibility. Also it has been shown that among the loan characteristics variables loan amount, loan balance, total debt amount, collateral type, collateral amount, and repayment method have significant positive (+) effects on the delinquency possibility. Furthermore it has been found that among the interest rate characteristics variables both overdue interest rate and interest rate spread have positive (+) effects on the delinquency possibility. However, it has been shown that among the personal characteristics variables equity and membership do not have significant effects on the delinquency possibility, and that normal interest rate among the interest rate characteristics variables also do not have a significant effect on the delinquency possibility. Research Implications - By systematically analyzing the variables affecting delinquency possibility based on the results of this study, credit unions might get positive help in improving the system of managing receivables. Furthermore, the results of this study could be extended and applied to other types of financial institutions, so that financial institutions in general will also get some help to systematically manage the delinquency possibility.

  • This research allows purpose to illuminate Reading Popularization Movement and readers' interest in the 1960's. This period, there were scientific and national interests about 'Reading' as culture from society whole as well as on public education situation. This research describes reading and phenomenons of reading education on the basis of newspaper data mainly in the 1960's, observed formation process of kind of 'Reading society' in sociological side. Detailed research contents as following same. First, it was studied readers' interest, 1) general readers' interest, 2) student readers' interest. Second, it was investigated reading movement, 1) the library and reading movement, 2) village library and reading campaign.

A Study on the Degree of Interest to Manners Education before and Attitude and Behavioral Change Satisfaction of Manners Education after for Women's University Students (대학생의 '생활예절' 관심도 및 수강 후 태도.행동 변화에 대한 만족도 -숙대생을 대상으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigated on the degree of interest of manners education before and attitude and behavior change satisfaction of post-manners education for Women's University Students. The data for this study were collected from 518 subjects, who were Sookmyng Women's University Students in November, 1996. The subjects were analyzed by Cronbach's α, Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Anova, Factor analysis, Multiple Regression, and Path Analysis. The results were as follows; 1) The general tendency of students' degree of interest of manners education before for Women's University Students was high. 2) Attitude and behavioral change satisfaction of post-manners education was some high. Among the variables, individual life manners, family relations manners, job manner, and wedding ceremony were some high then the other manners areas. 3) The variables of the positive influences for students attitude and behavioral change satisfaction of post-manners education were degree of interest of manners education before, mother's age, grade, major, university life-satisfaction, and mother's job, negative influence variables was family life-satisfaction. 4) The intermediated variable of attitude and behavioral change satisfaction of post-manners education was degree of interest of manners education before and university life-satisfaction. We hope this study to be used as basic data for developing manners education model in university. We also expect further studies on university manners education with precise scale and sampling.

가정교과 학습을 통한 남중생의 가정생활에 대한 인식 및 태도에 관한 조사연구

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the influence of Home Economics learning on the recognition and attitude of middle school boy’s home life and to suggest the basic materials for the development of the Home Economics education through students’opinion of Home Economics. For this purpose, a survey was conducted in Cheong-ju area using questionaire. The subjects were 487 boys who studied Home Economics (HE group)and 480 boys who studied Technique (T group) in middle school. The statistics used for data analysis were t-test and x$^2$-test. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The recognition and attitude to home life on the general characteristics of home life; In urban area, the interests in bealth and the role of the consumers were higher than those of rural areas-on the bases of the standard of life, the middle class students had a higher interest in nutrition and food habits, the students whose father were engaged in special job had a higher interest in health and nutrition. 2. The difference of the recognition and attitude between HE & groups; In the field of food life, HE’s knowledge about the six nutrients and the basic food groups and attitude toward buying food were higher than T’s. In the field of family life and resources, HE and T accepted the importance of family life and the role of home as important, hoped to get psychological relax from home and to take the right sexual education. In the field of clothes life, HE and T had the general tendency to have their clothes in proper manner and to select their clothes for themselves, but HE took a higher interest in clothes mending and the role of clothes. 3. The opinions on Home Economics; HE answered that Home Economics was useful to them (more than 90% of HE) and that 57.1% of HE were interested in Home Economics. The order of interest among three fields were as follows: food life, clothes life, family life and resources. 71.9% of T hoped to take Home Economics course.

Does the general public have concerns with dental anesthetics?

  • Background: Consumers and patients in the last two decades have increasingly turned to various internet search engines including Google for information. Google Trends records searches done using the Google search engine. Google Trends is free and provides data on search terms and related queries. One recent study found a large public interest in "dental anesthesia". In this paper, we further explore this interest in "dental anesthesia" and assess if any patterns emerge. Methods: In this study, Google Trends and the search term "dental pain" was used to record the consumer's interest over a five-year period. Additionally, using the search term "Dental anesthesia," a top ten related query list was generated. Queries are grouped into two sections, a "top" category and a "rising" category. We then added additional search term such as: wisdom tooth anesthesia, wisdom tooth general anesthesia, dental anesthetics, local anesthetic, dental numbing, anesthesia dentist, and dental pain. From the related queries generated from each search term, repeated themes were grouped together and ranked according to the total sum of their relative search frequency (RSF) values. Results: Over the five-year time period, Google Trends data show that there was a 1.5% increase in the search term "dental pain". Results of the related queries for dental anesthesia show that there seems to be a large public interest in how long local anesthetics last (Total RSF = 231) - even more so than potential side effects or toxicities (Total RSF = 83). Conclusion: Based on these results it is recommended that clinicians clearly advice their patients on how long local anesthetics last to better manage patient expectations.

The Influence of Appearance Satisfaction on Interest in Eye Makeup and Makeup care Behavior in Female Consumers (여성 소비자의 외모만족도가 아이 메이크업 관심도 및 메이크업 관리행동에 미치는 영향)

  • This study attempted to verify the influence of appearance satisfaction on interest in eye makeup and makeup care behavior in female consumers and provide basic data which are needed to plan marketing strategies and develop cosmetics in the cosmetics market. For this, a questionnaire survey was performed against adult women in their 20-50s from the capital region. A total of 399 copies were used for final analysis, and the results found the followings: First, differences were found in appearance satisfaction, interest in eye makeup and makeup care behavior by general characteristics. In other words, interest in eye makeup started with 'self-care', showing interest in chasing a trend. Second, concerning the effects of appearance satisfaction on interest in eye makeup, as the respondents were more satisfied with their facial contour, they were more interested in eye makeup. Third, in terms of the influence of appearance satisfaction on eye makeup care behavior, as they were more satisfied with their skin conditions, trend-setting makeup care behavior increased. Consequently, increase in appearance satisfaction enhanced interest in eye makeup, having an influence on makeup care behavior.

  • The result of studying primary science education in Korea the first stage under CHOSUN Government General is as follows and it could be seen that it was managed under considerably different philosophy of education than that of the Ministry of Education, Japan. 1) Weekly 2 hours of 'science' were taught at 3rd and 4th grade of primary school. 2) CHOSUN Government General emphasized 'practicality' in the regulation of primary science education. 3) During the transitional period science text compiled by the office of education was revised and used. 4) First primary science text compiled by CHOSUN Government General was "Science Textbook for Commom School" (1913) and it was filled with sentences stimulating interest of students and at end of each chapter there were exercise problems.
