The final sample was analyzed on 157 subjects. T-test and ANOVA analysis were performed to compare gender sensitivity and gender role stereotypes according to general characteristics. Equal variances were tested using the Levene statistic, and significant differences between groups were identified through Scheffe's post hoc analysis. Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to confirm the correlation between gender sensitivity and gender role stereotypes. Results: Gender sensitivity was 2.69 and gender role stereotypes were 1.83. Among the sub-areas of gender sensitivity, gender role openness was the highest at 2.86, and non-violence was the lowest at 2.50. As for gender role stereotypes, social stereotypes were the highest among sub-areas at 1.71. Among the general characteristics, there was a statistically significant difference in gender sensitivity according to the presence or absence of opposite sex friends (p=0.011). The gender identity openness of gender sensitivity and the physical sub-areas of gender role stereotypes showed the highest positive correlation(r=0.955). Among the sub-areas of gender sensitivity, gender role openness and domestic stereotypes showed the lowest negative correlation (r=-0.404) among the sub-areas of gender role stereotypes. Conclusion: Dental hygiene students should be able to critically analyze and solve problems of not only sexual violence but also gender discrimination and imbalance in social life. For this, environmental factors such as school education and professor guidance must be strengthened.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the effects of adolescent sexual media literacy and sexual permissiveness on gender sensitivity and to provide evidences useful in developing a sex education program that would promote gender sensitivity among adolescents. Methods: Data were derived from 250 adolescents' responses to questionnaires. Collected data were analyzed using ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. Results: Gender sensitivity according to gender was significantly different (t=-6.54, p=0.001). Gender sensitivity was positively correlated with sexual media literacy (r=0.36, p<0.001), and negatively correlated with sexual permissiveness (r=.22, p<.001). Sexual media literacy was negatively correlated with sexual permissiveness (r=-0.39, p<0.001). The variables affecting the participants' gender sensitivity on media literacy were gender (β=0.33, p<0.001) and sexual depiction scene (β=0.24, p<0.001). Conclusion: Gender and sexual media literacy influenced participants' gender sensitivity. Therefore, when developing a school-based sex education program, sexual media literacy should be included as a key concept; moreover, gender-specific programs need to be developed. Furthermore, teaching methods should enhance media literacy related to sexual depiction scenes and promote safe and healthy sexual permissiveness.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of rejection sensitivity in pathological narcissism and dating violence, and to verify whether there is a gender difference in each variable, further examining the gender difference in the mediating pathways. The participants of this study were 381 men and women in 20s living across the country, and online self-report surveys was conducted regarding their experiences of pathological narcissism, rejection sensitivity, and four types of dating violence. As a result of verifying gender differences, it was found that women had a higher vulnerability to narcissism, rejection sensitivity and committed more psychological violence, sexual violence, and controlling behavior than men. As a result of the mediation analysis, it was found that rejection sensitivity partial mediated the effect of pathological narcissism on psychological violence and control behavior, but it showed a complete mediation effect on sexual violence. And there was no mediating effect of rejection sensitivity between pathological narcissism and physical violence. As a result of measuring the moderating effect of gender in this mediating pathways, the moderated mediating effect of gender was verified in the effect of naricissistic grandiosity and narcissistic vulnerability on control behavior through rejection sensitivity. These results show that pathological narcissism promotes psychological and sexual violence in both men and women, and rejection sensitivity acts as a mediator in this process. In addition, the effect of pathological narcissism on the control behaviors through rejection sensitivity was significantly higher in women than in men, indicating that there are gender differences in the mediated pathways. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study and suggestions for follow-up studies were discussed.
