A Strength Analysis of Gear Train for Hydro-Mechanical Continuously Variable Transmission

  • The power train of hydro-mechanical continuously variable transmission(HMCVT) for the middle class forklift makes use of an hydro-static unit, hydraulic multi-wet disc brake & clutches and complex helical & planetary gears. The complex helical & planetary gears are a very important part of the transmission because of strength problems. The helical & planetary gears belong to the very important part of the HMCVT's power train where strength problems are the main concerns including the gear bending stress, the gear compressive stress and scoring failures. The present study, calculates specifications of the complex helical & planetary gear train and analyzes the gear bending and compressive stresses of the gears. It is necessary to analyze gear bending and compressive stresses confidently for an optimal design of the complex helical & planetary gears in respect of cost and reliability. This paper not only analyzes actual gear bending and compressive stresses of complex helical & planetary gears using Lewes & Hertz equation, but also verifies the calculated specifications of the complex helical & planetary gears by evaluating the results with the data of allowable bending and compressive stress from the Stress - No. of cycles curves of gears. In addition, this paper explains actual gear scoring and evaluates the possibility of scoring failure of complex helical & planetary gear train of hydro-mechanical continuously variable transmission for the forklift.

동력전달용 베벨기어의 강도평가 시스템 개발 연구 (Development of Rating Systems for Power Transmission Bevel Gears)

  • Rating systems of bevel gears(straight, spiral, and zerol bevel gears) which are commonly used as power transmission devices for non-papallel axes are developed on the personal computer, which analyze and/or evaluate the gear design and the service performance at the point of view of strength and durability. The typical considerations of the ratings are the bending strength, the surface durability, and the scoring resistance. The ratings are carried out using the reliable standards of AGMA & Gleason Works. Therefore, the system is built so that the variables or factors considered differently in those standards and the strength, dura- bility, and scoring partially in Gleason are appraised seperately by each method, and a series of the estimation processes is integrated into the system so as to compare each result. The developed rating systems can be used in the initial stage of gear design process, and also a better design can be performed by the evaluation of the initial design at the view point of gear strength and durability. Additionally, it is useful for the trouble-shooting of bevel gear system and to the purpose of introducing the methods for maintaining design strength in service, with appraising the gear strength after design or with appraising the influencing factor as a whole. Therefore, this rating systems can help the aim of design automation of bevel gears.

동력전달용 치차설계 전문가 시스템 개발연구 II (Development of Expert System for Designing Power Transmission Gears (II))

  • 본 연구에서는 동력전달용 치차설계 전문가 시스템을 구축하기 위한 일단의 연구로서 먼저 동력전달용 치차의 치차파손의 원인과 대책의 진단을 위한 전문가 시스 템을 개발하였으며, 본 논문에서는 치차의 강도를 기준으로 삼아 원통치차를 설계할 수 있는 강도 기준 치차설계 전문가 시스템을 개발한다. 즉, 전문가 시스템은 치차 설계에 필요한 지식을 체계적으로 지식 베이스에 구축하며, 이를 이용하여 새로운 설 계안을 도출해 낼수 있는 추론엔진을 구성하고, 설계광정중에 변화하는 설계의 중간결 과 등을 저장하기 위한 임시작업영역을 기본요소로 구축한다. 또한 과거의 설계예를 데이터 베이스로 구축하여 설계시에 참조 할 수 있도록 하며, 새로운 치차의 설계뿐아 니라 설계되어 있는 치차의 강도평가도 할 수 있도록 한다. 전문가 시스템에 사용자 인터페이스, 설명기능, 지식획득기능 등을 추가함으로써 치차분야에 초심자라 할지라 도 개발된 전문가 시스템과의 문답식 대화를 통하여 손쉽게 치차를 설계할 수 있도록 한다.전문가 시스템을 기술하는 프로그램 언어는 PROLOG를 사용하여 퍼스널컴퓨 상 에서 구동될 수 있도록 하며, 강도평가시 많은 수치계산이 필요한 부분은 FORTRAN언어 를 사용하여 기술한 후 PROLOG와 연결(interface)함으로써 전체 전문가 시스템을 구축 한다.
