  • Wind turbine gearbox is a complex mechanical system that includes gear trains, shafts, bearings, and gearbox housings. All these components are interacting with each other therefore it is important to assess the whole performance by considering the individual component design. In this paper, the performance assessment of 2MW wind turbine gearbox was conducted under various operating conditions at test bench and test result was compared with the design calculation.

  • This paper analyzes the pitting's cause of elevator's worm gear type traction machine. To find a cause of pitting problem, we analyzed vibration, a proper design allowance and lubrication. We brought a conclusion that the cause of pitting is not a simple vibration problem, such as misalignment of worm reducer and rail, but mostly related to a designed allowance. In this case, the allowance is tight. In general, the allowance of traction machine and lubrication is varied by manufacturers. When the allowance is tight, a proper lubrication can diminish the pitting problem.

  • In the automobile industry, the various efforts to lower their industrial cost and enhance fuel efficiency have been made through process improvement or weight saving of automobile parts. Gear is one of significant parts of transmission, which is made by cast iron or alloy steel. It is expensive due to complex processing, inferior materials and large machining allowance. In this study, alternative gear cars oil which is based on fluid applications materials is produced by reducing surface induction hardening and carburizing hardened in production. And then, wear characteristic and mechanical properties such as hardness of the sintered alloy which is used as a substitute for small machining allowance is investigated.

폐유 및 액상연료 공정 폐기물에서 무기물질류의 함량특성 (Characteristics of hazardous oil & liquid fuel waste discharged from various industries)

  • 국내 유해폐기물의 적정 관리를 위해 폐유 및 액상연료 공정에서 발생한 폐기물 중 규제 무기물질류의 배출특성을 조사하였다. 사업장은 올바로시스템에 등록된 폐기물 배출업체를 대상으로, 유럽폐기물 분류체계(EWC, European Waste Catalogue)의 폐유 및 액상연료 공정(EWC 13)과 유사한 폐기물 발생업체를 선정하였다. 조사대상 사업장 37 개 업체를 현지 방문하여 원료, 생산제품, 생산 공정, 폐기물의 종류 및 배출과정을 조사하고 생산 공정에서 배출되는 51 개의 폐기물을 채취하여 무기물질류 16 항목(Cd, Pb, Cu, Hg, As, CN, Cr, $Cr^{6+}$, Ba, Be, F, Ni, Sb, Se, V, Zn)에 대한 함량분석을 수행하였다. 분석결과, 모든 공정에서 발생된 폐기물에서 주로 Sb가 검출되었고, 6~419(평균 98) mg/kg의 농도 범위를 나타내었다. EWC 판정 절차를 통해 국내 폐유 및 액상연료 공정에서 발생된 폐기물을 판정한 결과, EWC 중분류 24공정 중 절대유해폐기물로 분류해서 관리해야할 공정은 16 개, 상대유해폐기물로 관리가 필요한 공정은 8 개로 판단되었다. 폐기물의 배출특성을 통해 유해물질 함유 자료를 확보하고 폐기물 목록에 대한 데이터베이스를 구축함으로써 유해폐기물의 안전처리를 통한 환경오염을 방지할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

디젤기관 착화실패가 크랭크축계 비틀림 진동에 미치는 환경의 이론적 고찰 (A theoretical investigation of misfiring effects on the crankshaft torsional vibration of diesel engine)

  • Since the oil shock of '70s the engine makers have developed new types of diesel engine with low fuel consumption. There is an obvious tendency towards the use of poorer quality fuels, such as the residual oil from chemical processes of refinery. The shaft driving generators is also widely adopted on behalf of the auxiliary diesel engines, which are driving on the expensive diesel oil and have high fuel oil consumption rates, and some mania propulsion diesel engines are equipped with reduction gear systems to get better propulsive efficiency by slower propeller revolutions. The propulsion shafting system equipped with the shaft driving generator or the geared diesel engine shafting system has flexible couplings, and it requires extensive investigations of the torsional vibration and torque fluctuation in order to ensure the acceptable operation range in service. The characteristics of misfiring must be especially examined for the high viscosity fuels to be used. Both torsional vibration and fluctuating torque resulted from misfiring, should be examined for thier effects on the flexible coupling and propulsion shafting system. This paper is to investigate and solve the above mentioned problems which must be predicted on the design-stage of marine propulsion shafting system. A computer program is developed to calculate the indicated diagram, fluctating torque and torsional vibration for both normal and misfiring conditions.

탄소 나노소재를 이용한 윤활유 기반 나노유체의 제조 및 평가 (Preparation and Characterization of Lubricating Oil-based Nanofluids Containing Carbon Nanoparticles)

  • Lubricant-based nanofluids were prepared by dispersing carbon nanoparticles in gear oil. In this study, the effects of the particle size, shape and dispersity of the particles on the tribological properties of nanofluids were investigated. Dispersion experiments were conducted with a high-speed bead mill and an ultrasonic homogenizer, and the surfaces of the nanoparticles were simultaneously modified with several dispersants. The effective thermal conductivity of the nanofluids was measured by the transient hot-wire method, and the tribological behaviors of the nanofluids were also investigated with a disk-on-disk tribo-tester. The results of this study clearly showed that the combination of the nanoparticles, the deagglomeration process, the dispersant and the dispersion solvent is very important for the dispersity and tribological properties of nanofluids. Lubricant-based nanofluids showed relatively low thermal conductivity enhancement, but they were highly effective in decreasing the frictional heat that was generated. For nanofluids containing 0.1vol.% graphite particles in an oil lubricant, The friction coefficient in the boundary and fluid lubrication range was reduced to approximately 70% of the original value of pure lubricant.

증속 기어 압축기용 스러스트 칼라의 윤활 성능 해석 (Performance Analysis of Oil-lubricated Thrust Collars in Integrally Geared Compressors)

  • A multi-stage compressor (MSC) is comprised of several impellers installed in the pinion gear shaft driven by a main bull gear. In the pinion shaft, a thrust collar (TC) is installed to support the thrust load. The TC makes the lubrication system simpler in the MSC; therefore, it is widely used in similar kinds of machinery. Typically, TCs are installed on both sides of the bull gear and pressure is developed in the lubricated area by creating a taper angle on the TC and bull gear surface. In the current study, we developed a numerical analysis model to evaluate the performance of the TC considering its design parameters. We sloved the Reynolds equation using the finite element method and applied the half Sommerfeld condition to consider cavitation. Based on the pressure calculated in the lubricated area, we calculated the power loss and minimum film thickness. In addition, we calculated stiffness and damping using perturbation method. We performed parametric studies using the developed model. The results of the analysis show that the maximum pressure presents in the center area of the TC and it increases with the taper angle. The area over which pressure is developed decreases with the taper angle. The results also show that there is an optimum taper angle providing minimum power loss and maximum film thickness. Additionally, the stiffness and damping decrease with the taper angle. As the applied load increases, the power loss increases and the minimum film thickness decreases. However, the stiffness and damping increase with the applied load.

  • This paper presents FMC prototypes developed to propagate manufacuting automation for small and medium sized enterprises in Korea. The system consists of two cells used to machine oil pump drive gears, turing cell and hobbing cell. Characteristics and processes of the fears are anaylzed for the cell design. The system configuration and functions of individual component machines are described. Furthermore, the developed system is compared with the current manual system in terms of manpower and cost reduction and productivity increase.

  • 판형열교환기의 증발과정에서 오일에 위한 영향을 알아보기 위해 마이크로 기어 펌프를 이용한 냉매-R134a 순환 성능실험 장치를 구성하여, 증발열전달 실험을 수행하였다. POE 오일을 펌프를 이용하여 냉매 질량 유량에 비례하도록 0~5%를 첨가하여, 오일순환량에 따른 열전달계수 변화를 측정하였다. 오일순환율이 증가할수록 R134a 증발 열전달계수는 감소하며, 압력손실은 증가한다. 질량유량 80 g/s, 증발 온도 $30^{\circ}C$ 일 때, 오일 순환율 2%조건에서 무오일 대비 약 10%의 열전달계수가 감소하였고, 압력손실은 약 10% 증가하였다.

하이브리드 승용차용 전자식 무단변속기의 개발 (Development of Electronically Controlled CVT for Hybrid Passenger Car)

  • In this paper, the details of electronically controlled CVT is described , which Kia Motor company recently developed in prototype form for hybrid passenger car. This transmission has two input shafts, one for engine and the other for traction motor. The shaft for traction motor is located at rear side which is extended from primary pulley shaft and connected to traction motor through adapter gear box. Adopting two input system, various driving mode is available such as motor alone driving in hybrid vehicle application. As far as electrohydraulic system concerned , this transmission uses two bleed type variable force solenoids for line pressure and ratio control, and one on-off solenoid for clutch control. Another feature for this transmission is that oil pump for transmission is separate from CVT for supplying oil pressure even at vehicle standstill.
