  • Both impluse noise and AWGN (additive white Gaussian noise) are easily corrupted into images, during signal transmission and acquisition. Thus, an algorithm for removing both noises is represented in this paper. An impulse noise detection step can effectively separate impulse noise with AWGN, then in the noise filtering step, by using several parameters, not only impulse noise but also AWGN can be reduced. The value of those parameters are automatically changeable when the standard deviation of AWGN, the impulse noise density, and the spatial distances between pixels are different. Results of computer simulations show that the proposed approach performs better than other conventional filters.

  • There are Impulse noise and AWGN in a general image processing. Various methods have been proposed to remove these noises. Well-known filters are Mean, Min-max and Median filter and these show different characteristics depending on the noises. When Impulse noise and AWGN are in superposition environment, single filter doesn't remove noises well. Therefore in this paper, we suggested a switching filter using a probability of noise to restore images in this environment. And we compared a filter with conventional method through simulations.

  • This paper proposes a multimodal generalized Gaussian distribution (MGGD) to effectively model the varying statistical properties of the extrinsic information. A subsidiary maximum likelihood decoding (MLD) algorithm is subsequently developed to dynamically select the most suitable MGGD parameters to be used in the component maximum a posteriori (MAP) decoders at each decoding iteration to derive the more reliable metrics performance enhancement. Simulation results show that, for a wide range of block lengths, the proposed approach can enhance the overall turbo decoding performance for both parallel and serially concatenated codes in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), Rician, and Rayleigh fading channels.

  • In this paper, a GMSK modulator was implemented with a gaussian lowpass filter using digital signal processing, a phase integration, D/A convers and auxiliary circuits. The relatively narrow bandwidth of power spectrum of the GMSK modulator is observed when the cut off frequency (B T) of the gaussian baseband filter is varied. In a demodulator, a discriminator type circuit is used. Using the above degital radio GMSK modem, BER is theoretically derived and experimentally measured when 16Kbps PRBS data is transmitted under Rayleigh fading and additive white gaussian noise conditions.

  • The focus in this paper is on obtaining tight, simple algebraic-form bounds and invertible expressions for the average symbol error probability (ASEP) of M-ary phase shift keying (MPSK) in a class of composite fading channels. We employ the mixture gamma (MG) distribution to approximate the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) distributions of fading models, which include Nakagami-m, Generalized-K ($K_G$), and Nakagami-lognormal fading as specific examples. Our approach involves using the tight upper and lower bounds that we recently derived on the Gaussian Q-function, which can easily be averaged over the general MG distribution. First, algebraic-form upper bounds are derived on the ASEP of MPSK for M > 2, based on the union upper bound on the symbol error probability (SEP) of MPSK in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) given by a single Gaussian Q-function. By comparison with the exact ASEP results obtained by numerical integration, we show that these upper bounds are extremely tight for all SNR values of practical interest. These bounds can be employed as accurate approximations that are invertible for high SNR. For the special case of binary phase shift keying (BPSK) (M = 2), where the exact SEP in the AWGN channel is given as one Gaussian Q-function, upper and lower bounds on the exact ASEP are obtained. The bounds can be made arbitrarily tight by adjusting the parameters in our Gaussian bounds. The average of the upper and lower bounds gives a very accurate approximation of the exact ASEP. Moreover, the arbitrarily accurate approximations for all three of the fading models we consider become invertible for reasonably high SNR.

  • Donoho et al. suggested a wavelet thresholding denoising method based on discrete wavelet transform. This paper proposes an improved denoising method using a new thresholding function based on translation-invariant wavelet for underwater acoustic measurement. The conventional wavelet thresholding denoising method causes Pseudo-Gibbs phenomena near singularities due to the lack of translation-invariant of the wavelet basis. To suppress Pseudo-Gibbs phenomena, a denoising method combining a new thresholding function based on the translation-invariant wavelet transform is proposed in this paper. The new thresholding function is a modified hard-thresholding to each node according to the discriminated threshold so as to reject unknown external noise and white gaussian noise. The experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively eliminate noise, extract characteristic information of radiated noise signals.

  • In this paper, newly developed algorithm for enhancing images corrupted by white gaussian noise is proposed. In the method proposed here, image is subdivided into a number of subblocks, and each block is separated into cimponents corresponding to signal and noise subspaces, respectively through the signal subspace method. A clean signal is then estimated form the signal subspace by the adaptive wiener filtering. The decomposition of noisy signal into noise and signal subspaces in is implemented by eigendecomposition of covariance matrix for noisy image, and by performing blockwise KLT (karhunen loeve transformation) using eigenvector. To reduce the perceptual noise level and distortion, wiener filtering is implementd by adaptively adjusting noise level according to activity characteristics of given block. Simulation results show the effectiveness of proposed method. In particular, edge bluring effects are reduced compared to the previous methods.

  • The data transmission in radio channel is mainly influenced by interfere and random noise. The increasing man-made impulsive noise environment has the necessity to consider impulsive noise than conventional white gaussian noise in digital communications. In this paper, we have investigated the error rate performance of hybrid modulation system. AFSK, which is composed of ASK and FSK in the environment of electromaganetic interference (EMI), especially impulsive noise.

  • In the process of the acquisition, storage, transmission of signals, noises are generated by various causes and the degradation phenomenon by noises tends to generate serious errors for the signal with information. So, in order to analyze and remove these noises, studies on numerous mathematical methods such as the Fourier transform have been implemented. And recently there have been many ongoing wavelet-based denoising algorithms representing excellent characteristics in time-frequency localization and multiresolution analysis, but the method to remove additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and the impulse noise simultaneously was not given. So, to reconstruct the corrupted signal by noises, in this paper a novel wavelet-based denoising algorithm was proposed and using signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) this method was compared to conventional methods.

  • Investigation is performed on the stability of nonlinear system under turbulent fluid motion modelled as white noise random process, which is a preliminary result in the course of research on the characteristic and nonlinear control of the stochastic system. Adopted physical model is beam-type structure with tip-mass and main base mass. The governing equation is derived via F-P-K approach in stochastic sense. By means of Gaussian Closure method infinite dynamic moment equations due to system nonlinearity is closed to finite one. At the best of authors' knowledge, it is the first trial to design nonlinear controller by using of sliding mode technique in stochastic domain and control performance and effect in stochastic domain is studied.
