Fabrication and Gas Sensing Characteristics of $MoO_3$ Thin Film Sensor ($MoO_3$ 박막센서 제조 및 가스감지특성)

  • $MoO_3$ thin films were deposited on electrode and heater screen-printed alumina substrates in en atmosphere by RF reactive sputtering. The deposition was performed at $300^{\circ}C$ with 350W of a forward power in an $Ar-O_2$ atmosphere. The working pressure was maintained at $3{\times}10^{-2}$mtorr and all deposited films were annealed at $500^{\circ}C$ for 5hours. The surface morphology of films was observed by using a SEM and crystalline phases were analyzed by XRD. The sensing properties were investigated in term of gas concentration under exposure of reducing gases such as $H_2$, $NH_3$ and CO.

  • 합성가스는 C1화학을 시작하는 반응원료 물질로 최근 DME(dimethyl-ether), 메탄올, GTL(gas to liquid), CTL(coal to liquid), 암모니아 생성 공정 등 많은 화학공정에 사용되고 있다. 합성가스를 생산하는 방법은 천연가스 개질반응과 석탄의 가스화반응, 그리고 원유의 정제 등을 통해 얻을 수 있다. 삼중개질반응은 천연가스와 산소, 수증기, 이산화탄소를 원료로 $1000^{\circ}C$ 이상의 고온에서 반응시켜 합성가스를 생산하며, 균일반응계와 불균일반응계로 이루어져 있다. 균일반응계에서는 천연가스와 산소가 주로 반응하며, 원료로 투입된 대부분의 산소는 균일반응계에서 소모되어 일산화탄소와 이산화탄소를 생성한다. 삼중개질반응의 균일반응계에서는 산소와 천연가스와의 반응으로 많은 발열이 발생하여 전체 반응계의 온도를 유지할 수 있도록 해준다. 본 연구에서는 산소로 인한 삼중개질반응의 온도 조절과 균일반응계의 온도 분포를 위치에 따라 관찰해 보았으며, 실험과 모사를 통해 비교해 보았다.

Catalytic effect of metal oxides on CO2 absorption in an aqueous potassium salt of lysine

  • We report the catalytic effects of metal oxides on the $CO_2$ absorption rate in an aqueous potassium salt of ${\text\tiny{L}}-lysine-HCl$ using the vapor liquid equilibrium method. The best $CO_2$ absorption rate obtained through testing metal oxides in a highly concentrated potassium salt of amino acids (2.0 M) was identified using CuO. The recyclability of the metal oxides was tested over three cycles. The catalyst CuO was found to enhance the absorption rate of $CO_2$ by 61%. A possible mechanism was proposed based on NMR spectroscopy studies. Further, the effect of change in liquid absorbent viscosity on $CO_2$ absorption is discussed.

  • A self-blast type gas circuit breaker has been studied in this study to improve efficiency of interrupting performance of short line fault(SLF). Hot gas flows of gas circuit breaker have been simulated to evaluate interruption performance using CFD. Design parameters such as various types of expansion chamber and nozzles are suggested by using simulation results. Simulated results and experimental ones are compared with previous (ones that of in under development and with capacitor) GCB. Modified new shape of an expansion chamber and nozzle has been suggested to improve the efficiency of gas flow and to provide guidelines for designing self-blast breaker with a higher interruption capability.

  • Graphite electrodes are used for secondary batteries, fuel cells, and super capacitors. Research is underway to increase the reaction area of graphite electrodes. In this study, we have investigated the growth properties of carbon nanowall (CNW) according to the ingredient of gas. Microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (MPECVD) system was used to grow CNW on Si substrate with a variety of the reaction gas. The planar and vertical growth conditions of the grown CNWs according to the ingredient of the gas were characterized by a field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The electrical characteristics of CNWs were analyzed using a 4-point probe.

  • Performance analysis of the interior ballistics has been conducted using the 1-D numerical code called IBcode according to the various conditions such as length of ignition-gas injector, amount of ignition-gas, mass of projectile, and drag force of projectile. In case of the length of ignition-gas injector, the 25~100 % of the full-injector length has been considered as well as the mass & mass flow of the ignition-gas. The mass of the projectile 5~70 kg and its drag force of 0~69 MPa have been also considered. Variables such as breech & base pressure, negative differential pressure and muzzle velocity for the performance analysis have been sorted, too. Firing conditions for the optimal performance have been investigated through these variables.

  • Hydrogen production facility using very high temperature gas cooled reactor lies in situation of high temperature and corrosion which makes hydrogen release easily. In that case of hydrogen release, there lies a danger of explosion. However, from the point of thermal-hydraulics view, the long distance of them makes lower efficiency result. In this study, therefore, outlines of hydrogen production using nuclear energy are researched. Several methods for analyzing the effects of hydrogen explosion upon high temperature gas cooled reactor are reviewed. Reliability physics model which is appropriate for assessment is used. Using this model, leakage probability, rupture probability and structure failure probability of very high temperature gas cooled reactor are evaluated and classified by detonation volume and distance. Also based on standard safety criteria which is value of $1{\times}10^{-6}$, safety distance between the very high temperature gas cooled reactor and the hydrogen production facility is calculated.

  • Experimental investigations were carried out in an atmospheric pressure, optically accessible and laboratory-scale dump combustor operating on natural gas. The objective of this study is to obtain the phase-resolved gas temperatures at different phases of the oscillating pressure cycle during unstable combustion. CARS temperature measurements were made at several spatial locations under lean premixed conditions to get the information on temperature field within the combustor. Also the effect of incomplete fuel-air mixing on phase-resolved temperature fluctuation was investigated. Results including phase-resolved averaged temperature, normalized standard deviation and temperature probability distribution functions (PDFs) were provided in this paper. Temperature PDFs give an insight on the flame behavior. And strong correlation between phase-resolved temperature profile and pressure cycle was observed. Results of the phase-resolved high temperature give an additional information on the perturbation of equivalence ratio at flame as well as the effect of mixing quality on NOx emission characteristics.

A Study on Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Ability Using Nitrogen and Novec Mixtures Gas (질소와 노벡 혼합가스를 이용한 청정소화약제의 소화성능에 관한 연구)

  • In the course of increasing in human and material damage caused by fire, it is an important research field to develop clean extinguishing agent which does no harm to global environment as well as has a good extinguishing efficiency. This research is a basic step to develop a new clean extinguishing agent. In order to get a satisfactory result, we tested fire extinguishing ability using nitrogen and Novec mixtures gas which are inert gas and new clean extinguishing agent. We used Cup Burner Test made by international standard ISO-14520 regulations of gaseous extinguishing agent ability test, and the fuels used in the test are n-heptane, methanol, ethanol, iso-propanol and 1-butanol. The experimental results of flame extinguishing concentration are n-heptane 6.54%, methanol 8.47%, ethanol 6.98%, isopropanol 6.10% and butanol 6.54% by pure Novec agent. So the finding is that a new clean agent, Novec has an efficient extinguishing ability in a state of gas. Also, in a test as to mixtures gas of nitrogen and Novec, it has a good result for minimum oxygen concentration is under 16%.

An Effect of Volatility of Crude Oil Price on Asymmetry of Domestic Gasoline Price Adjustment (국제 유가 변동성이 국내 휘발유 가격 비대칭성에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose - This study examines the effects of Dubai oil price and the volatility on the asymmetry of domestic gasoline price adjustment. Additionally, the study investigates the effects of "Altteul" gas-station and tax-cut policies on asymmetry. Design/methodology/approach - Firstly, the study calculates proxies for asymmetry and volatility of each window(every 3-month) by error-correction model and GARCH(1, 1) using daily domestic gas price and Dubai oil price from 2008/04/15 to 2022/12/31. Secondly, the study investigates the effects of the increasing rate of Dubai oil price, volatility, "Altteul" gas-station and tax-cut policies on asymmetry. The autoregressive distributed lag regression model is employed for estimations. Findings - The study finds that changes in the increasing rate of Dubai oil price and both types of volatility of Dubai oil price increase asymmetry. While "Altteul" gas-station and tax-cut policies decrease asymmetry. Additionally, the study fails to find that asymmetry in the Korean gasoline market in the estimation with total observations. Research implications or Originality - An increase in Dubai oil price volatility means an increase in cost uncertainty for gas-station owners. Since cost uncertainty is a kind of financial risk, the increase in volatility reinforces the asymmetry. The study provides supporting evidence for the idea.
