고발열 전자부품 냉각용 써모사이폰의 냉각특성에 관한 연구 (Experimental study on the cooling characteristics of thermosyphon for the high power electronic components)

  • The experimental study is concerned with two-phase closed thermosyphons, (i.e., wickless heat pipes) for the cooling of high power electronic components in telecommunication system. The thermosyphon which can deal with a high heat flux of up to $4.9W/cm^2$ is developed, and the cooling characteristics of thermosyphon is analyzed according to design parameters which are the types of and quantity of working fluid, number of pipes, wire insertion in pipe, inclination angle of thermosyphon, and cooling air velocity. Using water as working fluid is superior cooling performance compared to using acetone, and cooling performance is improved as the number of thermosyphon becomes larger, inserting wires in the pipes, and inclination of $30~60^{\circ}$.

  • In this study, a computer analysis has been developed for predicting the pipe pressure of the intake and exhaust manifold in a single cylinder engine. To get the boundary conditions for a numerical analysis, one dimensional and unsteady gas dynamic calculation is performed by using the MOC(Method Of Characteristic). The main numerical parameters are the variation of the exhaust pipe diameters to calculate the pulsating flow when the intake and exhaust valves are working. As the results of numerical analysis, the shapes and distributions of the exhaust pipe pressures were influenced strongly on the cylinder pressure. As the exhaust pipe diameter is decreased, the amplitude of exhaust pressure is large and the cylinder pressure was showed low in the region of intake valve opening time.

  • Area of greenhouse increases rapidly up to 45,265ha by the year of 1998 in Korea. Hot air heater with light oil combustion is the most common heater for greenhouse heating in the winter season. However, exhaust gas heat discharged to atmosphere through chimney reaches up to 10~20% of total heat of the oil combusted in the furnace. In order to recapture the heat of this exhaust gas and to recycle for greenhouse heating, the heat pipe type exhaust heat recovery system was manufactured and tested in this experiment. The exhaust heat recovery system was made for space heating in the greenhouse. The system consisted of a heat exchanger made of heat pipes, ${\emptyset}15.88{\times}600mm$ located in the rectangular box of $600{\times}550{\times}330mm$, a blower and air ducts. The rectangular box was divided by two compartments where hot chamber exposed to exhaust gas in which heat pipes could pick up the heat of exhaust gas, and by evaporation of the heat transfer medium in the pipes it carries the heat to the cold compartment, then the blower moves the heat to greenhouse. The number of heat pipe was 60, calculated considering the heat exchange amount between flue gas and heat transfer capacity of heat pipe. The working fluid of heat pipe was acetone because acetone is known for its excellent heat transfer capacity. The system was attached to the exhaust gas path. According to the performance test it could recover 53,809 to 74,613kJ/hr depending on the inlet air temperature of 12 to $-12^{circ}C$ respectively when air flow rate $1,100\textrm{m}^3/hr$. The exhaust gas temperature left the heat exchanger dropped to $100^{circ}C$ from $270^{circ}C$ by the heat exchange between the air and the flue gas, the temperature difference was collected by the air and the warm air temperature was about $60^{circ}C$ at the air flow rate of $1,100\textrm{m}^3/hr$. This heat pipe type exhaust heat recovery system can reduce fuel cost by 10% annually according to the economic analysis.

  • Underground pipe is an instrument to transport rapidly and safely a lot of fluid like gas, oil, water supply and drain system. It acts like blood vessels of human body in a modern industry. As in this country, the pipe facilities have been constructing since 1970's. The pipes constructed for a long time ago are already starting to reveal the problem like corrosion and most of them are built underground. So for companies, the managing of the underground pipes is very hard because it needs high technology and a lot of money. So we made a new robot system to repair and maintain the pipes at a low price. This new robot is devised using pressing wall type to work inside 700${\sim}$900(mm) size pipe. And it has good carrying and working power.

  • In this study, a computer analysis has been developed for predicting the pipe pressure of the intake and exhaust manifold. To obtain the boundary conditions for a numerical analysis, one dimensional and non-steady gas dynamic calculation is performed by using the MOC(Method Of Characteristic). The main numerical parameters are the variation of the engine revolution to calculate the pulsating flow which the intake and exhaust valves arc working. The comparison of exhaust pressure in case of numerical results is quite matched with in case of experimental results. When engine revaluation is increased, the pressure amplitude showed a high value, but the pressure frequency was decreased.

To get the boundary conditions for a numerical analysis one dimensional and unsteady gas dynamic calculation is performed by using the MOC(Method Of Characteristics). The main numerical parameters are engine revolutions. to calculate the Pulsating flow which the intake and exhaust valves are working. The distributions of the exhaust pipe pressures were influenced strongly to the cylinder pressures and the shapes of exhaust pressure variation were similar to the Inside of cylinder pressure As the engine revolutions are increased. the intake pressure was lower than ambient pressure. The amplitude of exhaust pressure had increased and the phase of cylinder pressure $P_c$ is delayed and the amplitude of cylinder pressure were increased.

  • A horizontal tube furnace with a wide uniform-temperature zone was developed using isothermal characteristics of a heat pipe. The heat pipe heating system consists of a concentric annular shaped stainless-steel container, sodium as a working fluid and a screen mesh wick structure. The performance test of the heat pipe revealed that temperature changes along seven consecutive positions of the heat pipe outer wall were less than${\pm}0.1^{\circ}C$, thereby ensuring the high isothermal property. The isothermal property of the heat pipe-adapted tube fumace was investigated and compared to a conventional non-heat pipe type tube furnace. The temperature distribution measurement showed that the uniform temperature zone, in which temperature change is less than${\pm}$1$^{\circ}$C, of the heat pipe employed tube furnace system was about three times longer compared to the conventional tube furnace system.

Hybrid-Biocomposite Material for Corrosion Prevention in Pipeline: a review

  • One of the most challenging issues in the oil and gas industry is corrosion assessment and management in subsea structures or equipment. At present, almost all steel pipelines are sensitive to corrosion in harsh working environments, particularly in salty water and sulphur ingress media. Nowadays, the most commonly practiced solution for a damaged steel pipe is to entirely remove the pipe, to remove only a localized damaged section and then replace it with a new one, or to cover it with a steel patch through welding, respectively. Numerous literatures have shown that fiber-reinforced polymer-based composites can be effectively used for steel pipe repairs. Considerable research has also been carried out on the repair of corroded and gouged pipes incorporated with hybrid natural fiber-reinforced composite wraps. Currently, further research in the field should focus on enhanced use of the lesser and highly explored hybrid-biocomposite material for the development in corrosion prevention. A hybrid-biocomposite material from renewable resource based derivatives is cost-effective, abundantly available, biodegradable, and an environmentally benign alternative for corrosion prevention. The aim of this article is to provide a comprehensive review and to bridge the gap by developing a new hybrid-biocomposite with superhydrophobic surfaces.

원주 방향 두께가 불균일한 배관의 진동 모드 특성을 이용한 배관 감육 검사 기법 연구 (Pipe Wall-Thinning Inspection using Vibration Modes of Pipes with Circumferentially Varying Thickness)

  • 현재의 초음파 두께 측정에 기반한 배관 감육 검사 속도를 개선하기 위해 배관 쉘 진동 모드의 고유 진동수 변화를 이용한 감육 검사 기법을 제안하였다. 감육이 발생한 부위의 축방향 수직 단면의 두께는 원주 방향을 따라 불균일하게 변화하는데, 두께가 균일한 경우에 비해 쉘 모드의 고유 진동수가 감소하거나 두 개 이상으로 분기됨을 확인하였다. 배관의 고유 진동수는 한 번의 측정으로도 평가할 수 있으므로, 제안한 방법을 이용하면 축방향 수직 단면의 평균 두께 변화를 빠르게 확인할 수 있어 초음파 두께 측정 방식에 비해 신속한 감육 검사가 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 제안 기법의 원리를 설명하고, 2차원과 3차원 감육 배관 모델 및 시편을 이용한 전산 해석과 실험을 통해 제안한 기법의 적용성을 검증하였다.

기액 2상 유동에서 합지관에서의 압력강하에 대한 해석 (Analysis of Pressure Drop for Combining Junctions in Gas-Liquid Two-Phase Flows)

  • An experimental study and a modeling are peformed to investigate the pressure drop of combining junctions in two-phase flows. Experiments on tripod geometry used in a condenser or an evaporator, are conducted with inlet mass fluxes from 200 to$ 400 kg/m^2$s, and pipe diameters of 7 m and 9.52 m. The working fluid is R22. The result shows that the pressure drop increases as the quality does, but the effect of the increase of the pressure decreases when the diameter of a pipe increases. When the mass flux increases, the pressure drop linearly does. Furthermore, when the pipe diameter decreases, the pressure drop has a quadratic increase.
