배열회수보일러 입구 덕트 확관 형상 변화에 따른 전열관군 전단 유동균일화 특성 (Characteristics of Flow Uniformity at the Section before Tube Bank with the Change of Expansion Inlet Duct Shape in a Heat Recovery Steam Generator)

  • 복합 화력발전소 배열회수보일러에서의 입구 덕트 확관 형상 변화에 따른 전열관군 전단에서의 유동 균일화 특성을 유동수치해석을 통하여 분석하였다. 배열회수보일러의 입구는 가스터빈 후류의 출구에 해당하고 가스터빈 후류는 강한 선회 및 난류 유동이다. 본 연구에서 배열회수 보일러 입구 유동 경계조건은 가스터빈을 통과한 출구 유동 해석 결과를 이용하여 수행하였다. 배열회수보일러의 전열관군 전단에서의 유동 균일화 특성이 배열회수 보일러의 효율에 직결되므로 입구 덕트 확관 변곡점의 위치 변화에 따라 유동 균일화 특성을 파악함으로써 배열회수 보일러의 형상 최적화의 기반을 마련하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구로부터 배열회수 보일러 확관의 변곡점의 위치가 기준 형상에서 낮은 위치에서 전열관군 전단에서 최적의 유동 균일화가 이루어짐을 알았다.

  • An underground electric switch is a high-voltage switch used in distribution network systems for a reliable power supply. Many studies are being conducted to expand the switch to use an eco-friendly gas using dry air instead of SF6 gas to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In this study, a flow analysis model was established to improve the performance of an eco-friendly gas switch. The results were compared and reviewed through experiments. For the optimal arc grid design applied to the switch, the flow characteristics based on the flow path configuration and the changes in arcing time for each configuration were compared. Flow analysis can predict the switch flow distribution, and a comparative review of the flow path configurations of various methods is possible.

백필터를 활용한 흡착/촉매 통합공정 시스템의 반응기 내 유동특성 및 체류시간에 대한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Analysis on Flow Characteristics in the Reactor of an Integrated Adsorption/Catalysis Process with Bag Filters)

  • Numerical analysis has been performed to understand flow characteristics in the reactor with bag filters in an integrated adsorption/catalytic process which can treat dioxin and $NO_{x}$ together. Computational fluid dynamics technique was employed with Euler-Lagrangian model to consider flue gas and activated carbon particles simultaneously, so that residence time of flue gas and activated carbon particle could be obtained from the numerical analysis directly. The numerical analysis has been performed with different three particle sizes and compared each flow characteristics with particle's size. Fundamental flow patterns of flue gas and activated carbon particles, pressure distribution, residence time of flue gas and activated carbon particles, and distribution of activated carbon have been obtained from the numerical analysis. Flow patterns of flue gas and activated carbon particles in the reactor were very complicated and they moved along very various paths. Therefore, their residence time in the reactor was also various. The results obtained would be effectively used to estimate the removal efficiency in the reactor once the residence time is combined with the reaction equation.

  • In adsorption/catalytic process, numerical analysis has been performed to identify the flow characteristics of flue gas in the cyclone and to estimate the residence time of activated carbon using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technique. To consider flue gas and activated carbon particles simultaneously, Euler-Lagrangian model was employed so that residence time could be obtained from the numerical analysis directly.   • To analyze the performance of the gas circuit breaker(GCB), the flow field variables such as temperature, pressure and density should be evaluated accurately In the puffer chamber of puffer type GCB, the pressure rise may Exceed 20 bar and in this range of high pressure, $SF_6$ gas deviates the ideal gas property. Therefore, the real gas property of $SF_6$ should be taken into consideration for the accurate analysis of flow field. This paper presents the analysis technique of cold gas flow in GCB employing the real gas state equation of SF6. The FVFLIC method is Employed to solve the axisymmetric Euler equation. To reduce the computational effort of real gas state equation, the relationship between density and pressure is approximated by the polynomial at the temperature of 300K. The proposed method is applied to the test GCB model and simulation results show good agreement with the experimental ones.

특성곡선법을 이용한 디젤엔진 가스유동 1차원 수치해석의 타당성 평가 (Validation of diesel engine gas flow one-dimensional numerical analysis using the method of characteristics)

  • In order to design a diesel engine system and predict its performance, it is necessary to analyze the gas flow of the intake and exhaust system. A gas flow analysis in three-dimensional (3D) format needs a high-resolution workstation and enormous time for analysis. Therefore, the method of characteristics (MOC) was used for a gas flow analysis with a fast calculation time and a low-resolution workstation. An experiment was conducted on a single cylinder diesel engine to measure pressure in cylinder, intake pipe and exhaust pipe. The one-dimensional (1D) gas flow was analyzed under the same conditions as the experiment. The engine speed, valve timing and compression ratio were the same conditions and the intake pressure was inputted as the experimental results. Bent pipe such as an exhaust port that cannot be realized in 1D was omitted. As results of validation, the cylinder pressure showed accuracy, but the exhaust pipe pressure exhibited inaccuracy. This is considered as an error caused by the failure to implement a bent pipe such as an exhaust port. When analyzed in 3D, calculation time required 61 hours more based on a model of this study. In the future, we intend to implement a bent pipe that cannot be realized in 1D using 3D and prepare a method to supplement reliability by using 1D-3D coupling.

전기집진기 내부 유동 균일도 평가 기준인 ICAC EP-7과 %RMS 간 상관관계 (Relationship between ICAC EP-7 and %RMS, Standards for Gas Flow Uniformity inside Electrostatic Precipitators)

  • Gas flow uniformity is an important factor to guarantee particle removal performance of electrostatic precipitators (EP), and the gas flow uniformity is evaluated by a fraction of standard deviation to the mean of gas flow distribution (%RMS) or a technical standard, ICAC EP-7, provided by The Institute of Clean Air Companies. In this study, relationship between the ICAC EP-7 and %RMS in evaluation of gas flow uniformity was investigated in terms of flow velocity. The maximum values of %RMS for gas velocity distribution of normal distribution has been obtained, and the maximum values of %RMS with gas velocity distribution satisfying ICAC EP-7 standards were also evaluated. With gas flow distribution obtained from CFD analysis and physical model test of real EP, %RMS values were calculated and it was tested if those gas flow distribution satisfy the criteria specified in ICAC EP-7. The %RMS values satisfying criteria of ICAC have been appeared to have similar values with %RMS values calculated with normal distribution of gas velocities.

  • Gas Chromatography (GC) is a wisely technique used for the separation and analysis of liquid and gas sample. Separation of the sample vapors is achieved via their differential migration through a capillary column with an insert carrier gas. The identity and quantity of each vapor in the mixer can be determined from its retention time in the column and a particular property of the gas, such as thermal conductivity, which can be related to the concentration of sample vapor in the carrier gas. Therefore, the flow characteristics in the spiral gas chromatographic column are numerically investigated in this study. Especially, different pressure drop between the front and the rear of GC column with various flow rates is estimated the governing equations are derived from making using of three-dimensional Naver-Stokes equation with incompressible and laminar model due to the nature of low Reynolds number flow. Using a commercial code, FLUENT, the pressure and flow fields in GC column are calculated with various flow rates. The characteristics of thermal cycling which is one of the most important factors affecting the column efficiency and analysis time is also estimated. Furthermore, numerical analyses are also carried out by using commercial code, ANSYS, with various values of power, which is applied to the heating element located at lower GC column.

  • To improve the safety, the fuel cell operate inside a pressurized enclosure which contains inert gas so called protective gas. The protective gas not only prevents the mixture of hydrogen and oxygen, but also removes the water in the vessel with the condenser. This study presents the details of the flow optimization in order to reduce the humidity in the fuel cell housing. The protective gas flow in the fuel cell container is studied by Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) simulations. This study focuses on optimizing the geometry of an protective gas circulation system in fuel cell module to reduce the humidity in the vessel. CFD analysis was carried out for an existing model to understand the flow behavior through the fuel cell system. Based on existing model CFD results, geometrical changes like inlet placement, optimization of outlet size, modification of fuel cell module system are carried out, to improve the flow characteristics. The CFD analysis of the optimized model is again carried out and the results show good improvement in protective gas flow behavior.
