침액식 세정설비의 마이크로버블을 이용한 철강산업 공정의 산세조 발생 염화수소 제거 (Hydrochloric Acid Gas Removal from Iron and Steel Industry Using Micro-bubbles of a Dip Injection Wet Scrubber System)

  • 대기오염물질인 염화수소의 배출 규제가 2ppm으로 강화됨에 따라 기존의 제철공장 습식세정 장치에 DIWS 시스템이 도입되었다. 침액식 스크러버 시스템으로 제철공정에서 발생되는 염화수소를 처리하기 위한 파일럿 연구를 수행하였다. DIWS 시스템의 운전에 따른 응축수 pH는 연돌에서 6.0으로 증가하였다. 산세 Fume 정제설비의 평균 유입 염화수소는 13.3ppm, 평균 배출가스는 0.43ppm, 평균 제거율은 96.9%로 나타났다. TMS 장치로 장기간 측정한 데이터를 비교하였을 때 DIWS 장치는 안정적인 제거율을 나타냈지만, TMS의 type별 데이터 불균일 현상이 관찰되었다.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of dry-type desulfurization process for actual application to coal-fired power plant. We used actual exhaust gas from Facility Y, Plant #2 to fabricate a demo-scale testing device to attempt to improve the efficiency of desulfurization. A spout-bed circulating dry scrubber convergence system connecting turbo reactor with bag filter was devised, then analyzed for performance characteristics of $SO_2$ removal for Ca/S mole ratio, superficial gas velocity, and ammonia injection, and for secondary reaction characteristics of the non-reactive sorbent at the bag filter. As a result, the installation of spout-bed circulating dry scrubber convergence system showed better economy and efficiency for removing sulfur than the existing wet/semidry-type desulfurization process. In addition, the best efficiency for desulfurization occurred when connected to the bag filter, with differential pressure maintained at 150 $mmH_2O$.

  • The effects of recirculated exhaust gas on the characteristics of fuel economy combustion and exhaust emissions have been experimentally investigated by a four-cylinder four cycle indirect injection water-cooled and marine diesel engine operating at several loads and speeds. in order to reduce the soot contents in the recirculated exhaust gas to intake system of the engine a novel diesel soot removal system with a cylinder-type scrubber which has 6 water injectors(A water injector has 144 nozzles in 1.0 mm diameter) is specially designed and manufactured for the experiment system The experiments in this study are performed at the fixed fuel injection timing of $15.3^{\circ}$ BTDC regardless of experimental conditions, The brake specific fuel consumption rate is slightly fluctuated with EGR in the range of experimental conditions, The maximum value of premixed combustion for the rate of heat release is decreased with EGR at engine load 25% and the ignition is slightly delayed with EGR at engine load 100% NOx emissions are markedly decreased with EGR especially at high loads while soot emissions are increased as the EGR rate rises.

  • Stabilization characteristics of highly $N_2$-diluted $CH_4-O_2$ flame in an axially two-section porous inert medium were experimentally investigated for its application to the waste gas scrubber in semiconductor manufacturing processes. The flame behaviors were observed with respect to the fuel and $N_2$ flow rates and the equivalence ratios. As a result, four kinds of flame behaviors such as stable, flashback crossing the interface, blowout and sudden extinction were observed. It was also found that there exists two flame regime divided by a critical fuel flow rate. In addition, the flame stability was discussed based on the $N_2$ index which means the abatement capacity of our combustor in scrubbing the waste gas from the semiconductor processes.

전기가열방식 스크러버의 NF3 제거 효율 (The progress in NF3 destruction efficiencies of electrically heated scrubbers)

  • 현재 반도체 및 LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) 제조 공정에 널리 사용하는 $NF_3$는 국제적으로 대기중 배출량에 대한 규제를 실시 중인 온실가스 중의 하나다. 온실가스의 배출량 감축을 위하여 국내 대상 산업체들은 $NF_3$ 배출량의 감소에 지속적으로 노력을 해 오고 있다. 본 연구는 LCD를 제조하는 국내 3사에 설치된 $NF_3$ 처리용 전기가열방식 스크러버(scrubber)의 제거효율(DRE, Destruction and Removal Efficiency)과 process chamber에서의 $NF_3$ 사용 비율(use rate in process)을 측정하였다. 스크러버의 효율을 정확하게 측정하기 위하여, 비활성 기체인 He을 일정 유량으로 주입시켜주는 방법으로 시료를 채취하고, 정밀 가스질량분석기(Gas-MS)를 이용하여 시료 중 화학종들의 분압을 측정하였다. 세 회사에 설치되어 있는 스크러버의 효율을 측정한 결과, 2004년 이전에 설치한 스크러버의와 그 이후 개선한 스크러버의 DRE는 각각 52%와 95% 이상임을 확인하였다. 또한 Process chamber의 $NF_3$ 사용 효율은 1세대 및 2세대 공정라인에 설치한 RFSC(Radio Frequency Source Chamber)의 경우 75% 보다 낮지만, 3세대 이상 라인에 설치한 RPSC(Remote Plasma Source Chamber)의 경우는 95% 이상으로 측정이 되었다. 반도체 및 디스플레이 공정에 개선된 스크러버와 RPSC식 process chamber를 사용할 경우 $NF_3$ 배출량을 99.95% 이상 줄일 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 따라서 $NF_3$에 대한 국내 3사의 온실가스 감축 목표가 성공적으로 이루어 질 것으로 예상된다.

유해가스 흡수처리를 위한 저비용 고효율 스크러버의 최적 설계기준 및 현장적용 방안 (Optimal Design Standard and Application of Low Cost, High Performance Scrubber for Absorbing Hazardous Gas)

  • 사업장에서 유해가스를 처리하는 스크러버는 처리효율은 높으나 설계가 복잡하고 24시간 펌프를 가동시켜야 하므로 많은 비용이 소모될 수 있다. 따라서, 영세한 사업장에서는 스크러버를 설치하지 않거나 순환펌프의 작동을 중지한 상태로 스크러버를 운용하여 운영비를 최소화하고 있다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 소규모 사업장에서 경제적으로 활용할 수 있는 저비용 고효율 스크러버에 대한 적용방안을 연구하였다. 저비용 고효율 스크러버는 bubble column의 방식을 적용하여 유해화학물질 흡수처리 목적으로 장치를 활용하는 것으로, 이러한 스크러버의 개발을 위하여 실험을 통해 흡수성능을 검토하였으며 특정 조건에서 물리적 조건 변화에 따른 유해가스 흡수효율 변화 및 최적의 적용방안을 연구하였다. 그 결과, 저비용 고효율 스크러버로 유입되는 기체를 어느 정도 처리할 수는 있었으나 처리능력이 저하되는 문제가 발생하여 흡수액 공급을 통해 성능저하를 방지하고 순환량에 따라 일정 수준의 흡수율을 유지할 수 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 기반으로 최종적으로는 적정 순환시점 및 동결 방지방안을 포함한 저비용 고효율 스크러버의 현장 적용방안을 3가지 방식(type)으로 제시하였다.

Development of Pilot-Scale Scrubber for Simultaneous Removal of $SO_2/NO$

  • SOx and NOx are known major precursors of acid rain and thus the abatement of their emissions is a major target in air pollution control. To obtain basic data on the removal process of simultaneous $SO_2/NO$, the optimal reaction condition and the composition of reaction solution for simultaneous removal of $SO_2/NO$, ware investigated using a bubble column reactor. Pilot scrubber was consisted of scrubber, filter and control box. Dust removal rate was 83, 92, and 97% with catalyst flux of 0.5, 0.8, 1.5 L/min, respectively Average dust removal efficiency with a kind of nozzle was about 94 and 90% in STS FF6.5 (5/8in.) and 14 of P.P W(1.0in.), respectively Dust and $SO_2$ were removed more than 98-96% regardless of reactor number. In the case of NO gas, removal yield of 83.3% was achieved after 48 hours in 1 stage, also removal yield of 95.7% was reached in 2 stages. In tile case of application of STS (5/8 in.) and P.P (1.0 in.) as used fill packing, removal efficiency was reached higher than 98% without related to of kind of fill packing.

Comparative Analysis of SOx Emission-Compliant Options for Marine Vessels from Environmental Perspective

  • With growing concerns over air pollutions attributed to shipping activities, the international maritime organization has enacted a series of stringent regulations. In particular, MARPOL Annex IV Reg. 16 requires sulfur contents from exhaust gases of marine engines to be progressively reduced. To comply with this regulation, three feasible options have been introduced: using LNG as a marine fuel, using heavy fuel oil with the scrubber system, and using the marine gas oil (a type of low sulfur fuel oil). For the objectives of this paper, the holistic environmental impacts pertinent to these options were investigated and compared in ways that the flows of energy and emission were tracked and quantified through the life cycle of the ship. Research findings obtained from a case study with a large bulk carrier showed that the use of the scrubber system to purify heavy fuel oil would produce relatively fewer amounts of emissions attributing to global warming than other two options. On the other than, the use of LNG would be the way to operate the ship in a cleaner way in terms of reducing the acidification, eutrophication, and photochemical effects. Throughout the analysis, the excellence of life cycle assessment was proven to shift the environmental impact of marine systems from the short-term view to the long-term one.

왕겨펠렛 생물담체 개발 및 이를 이용한 bio scrubber형 악취제거 시스템 성능평가 (Developmemt of Rice Husk Pellets as Bio-filter Media of Bio Scrubber Odor Removal System)

  • The rice husk contains nutrients which can be easily utilized by microorganisms, and also has a water retaining ability, which played a crucial part in enabling it to become a biofilter media. In this study, we evaluated the applicability of rice husk pellet bio-scrubber as a microbiological carrier. The pelletization experiment of rice husk as a biological media was performed using PVA and EVA binder. Also, the feasibility tests of rice husk as a biological media for odor removal were carried out in order to know whether rice-husk contains useful components as a media for microbiological growth or not. Lastly, a combined test for odor gas absorption and biological oxidation was conducted using a lab scale bio-filter set-up packed with rice-husk pellets as wet-scrubber. The major components of the rice husk were carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen, while carbon acted as the main ingredient which comprised up to 23.00%. The C : N : P ratio was calculated as 45 : 1 : 2. Oxygen uptake rate, yield and decay rate of the rice husk eluent was calculated to be $0.0049mgO_2/L/sec$, 0.24 mgSS/mgCOD and 0.004 respectively. The most stable form of rice husk pellets was produced when the weight of the rice husk, EVAc, PVAc, and distilled water was 10 : 2 : 0.2 : 10. The prepared rice husk pellets had an apparent density of 368 g/L and a porosity of 59.00% upon filling. Dry rice husks showed high adsorption capacity for ammonia gas but low adsorption capacity for hydrogen sulfide. The bio-filter odor removal column filled with rice husk pellets showed more than 99.50% removal efficiency for NH3 and H2S gas. Through the analysis of circulation water, the prime removal mechanism is assumed to be the dissolution by water, microbial nitrification, and sulfation. Finally, it was confirmed that the microorganisms could survive well on the rice husk pellets, which provided them a stable supply of nutrients for their activity in this long-term experiment. This adequate supply of nutrients from the rice husk enabled high removal efficiency by the microorganisms.

박용디젤기관의 대기오염 저감을 위한 습식 다단 임팩션 시스템의 집진특성 (Collection characteristics of wet-type multi-staged impaction system for air pollutants removal of marine diesel engines)

  • The main purpose of this paper was to analyze the removal characteristics of gas/particulate phase pollutants for the present system. Experimentally, we performed to estimate the pressure drop and air pollution removal efficiency with physical variables such as stage number, tube velocity, tube diameter, water spray ($NH_4OH$), and so on. It was concluded that the pressure drop was shown below $111mmH_2O$ lower than that of the existing scrubber (centrifugal spray chamber, over 200 mmAq) at inlet velocity 3.46 m/s and 5 stage. The particular removal efficiency of this system was to be significantly higher at 99.8% in comparison with that of the existing scrubber for 5 stage, inlet velocity 3.46 m/s and $NH_4OH$ (aq) 300 mL/min. It was estimated that the removal efficiencies of $SO_2$ and $NO_2$ were 80% and 70% at system inlet velocity 2.07 m/s and $NH_4OH$ (aq) 300 mL/min respectively. Additionally, the present collection system was to be considered as an effective compact system for simultaneous removal of air pollutants (gas/particulate) due to much higher removal efficiency and appropriate pressure drop without a demister.
