  • For the evaluation of corrosion resistance of Al 6061-T6 alloy, Tafel method and immersion test was performed with Friction Stir Weld(FSW) and Gas Metal Arc Weld(GMAW). The Tafel and immersion test results indicated that GMA weld was severely attacked compared with those of friction stir weld. It may be mainly due to the galvanic corrosion mechanism act on the GMA weld.

  • The characteristic of interface layer and the effect of bias voltage on the microstructure of c-BN films were studied in the microwave plasma hot filament C.V.D process. c-BN films were deposited on a high speed steel(SKH-51) substrate by hot filament CVD technique assisted with a microwave plasma to develop a high performance of resistance coating tool. c-BN films were obtained at a gas pressure of 20 Torr, vias voltage of 300 V and substrate temperature of $800^{\circ}C$ in $B_2H_6-NH_3-H_2$ gas system. It was found that a thin layer of hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN) phase exists at the interface between c-BN layer and substrate.

  • This paper presents the characteristics of Ta-N thin-(ibm for high precision resistors, which were deposited oni substrate by DC reactive magnetorn sputtering in an argon-nitrogen atmosphere(Ar-(4∼16%)N$_2$). Sturcutural properties sutided using X-ray diffraction (XRD) indicate the presence of TaN, Ta$_3$N$\sub$5/ or a mixture of Ta-N phases in the films depending on the amount of nitrogen in the sputtering gas. The chemical composition are investigated by auger electro spectroscopy(AES). The optimized conditions of Ta-N thin-film resistors were deposited in 4 % N$_2$ gas flow ratio. Under optimum conditions, the Ta-N thin-film resistors are obtained a high resistivity, $\rho$=305.7 ${\mu}$Ωcm, a low temperature coefficient of resistance, TCR=-36 ppm/$^{\circ}C$.

  • An electric power efficiency of electrodeless fluorescent lamp has big relative property of gas in lamp, gas pressure, lamp formation, ingredients of magnetic substance and shape and action frequency etc. We used magnetic substance that open self examination material of electrodeless fluorescent lamp antenna. Ferrite that is used in this experiment was Mn-Zn type. We have examined resistance kind, impedance, Q-factor's frequency characteristic by ferrite. Impedance, resistance and capacitance did not show difference in start frequency 2.65 [MHz] but there was difference quantity. We could know Q-factor's difference according to material, and Q-factor's is important part of antenna design.

  • In this study, ZnO:Ga thin films were fabricated on a glass substrate using various Ar flows by an RF magnetron sputter system at room temperature. The dependencies of Ar flow on different properties were investigated. An appropriate control over the Ar flow led to the formation of a high-quality thin film. The ZnO:Ga films were formed as a hexagonal wurtzite structure with high (002) preferential orientation. The films exhibited a typical columnar microstructure and a smooth top face. The average transmittance was 85~89% within the visible area. By decreasing the Ar flow, the sheet resistance was decreased due to an increase in the grain size and a decrease in the root mean square roughness. The lowest sheet resistance of 86 Ω/□ was obtained at room temperature for the 40 sccm Ar flow.

  • Mg thin films were prepared by PVD method on electroplated Zn steel substrate. And the influence of gas pressure on their morphology and crystal orientation of the deposited films were investigated by scannig electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD), respectively. In addition, the effect of corrosion resistance of these films as a funtion of morphology and crystal orientation was evaluated by anodic polarization test. From the measured results, it is investigated that the film of granular structure which deposited in condition of high gas pressure had the highest corrosion resistance.

  • The corrosion characteristics of Cr steels were investigated to protect Cr steels from the SO2-gas corrosion in the coal-fired power plant. The samples tested were low alloy ferritic steel (ASTM T22, 23), martensitic steel (ASTM T91, 92, 122), and austenitic stainless steel (ASTM 347HFG). The corrosion tests were performed between 600oC and 1000oC in Ar + (0.2, 1)%SO2 gas for 100 hr. Chromium was quite beneficial to corrosion resistance, while iron was not. The corrosion resistance increased in the order of T22, T23, T91, T92, T122, and 347HFG.

  • Usually porous metals are known as relatively excellent characteristic such as large surface area, light, lower heat capacity, high toughness and permeability for exhaust gas filter, hydrogen reformer catalyst support. The Ni alloys have high corrosion resistance, heat resistance and chemical stability for high temperature applications. In this study, the Ni-based porous metals have been developed with Hastelloy powder by gas atomization and water atomization in order to find the effects of powder shape on porous metal. Each Hastelloy powder is pressed on disk shape of 2 mm thickness with 12 tons using uniaxial press machine. The specimens are sintered at various temperatures in high vacuum condition. The pore properties were evaluated using Porometer and microstructures were observed with SEM.

  • The study presented herein aims to investigate the durability related properties of rubberized concrete. Two types of waste scrap tire rubber were used as fine and coarse aggregate, respectively. The rubber was replaced with aggregate by three crumb rubber and tire chips levels of 5, 15, and 25% for the rubberized concrete productions. In order to improve the transport properties and corrosion resistance of rubberized concretes, SF was replaced with cement at 10% replacement level by weight of total binder content. The transport properties of the rubberized concretes were investigated through water absorption, gas permeability, and water permeability tests. The corrosion behavior of reinforcing bars embedded in plain and silica fume based rubberized concretes was investigated by linear polarization resistance (LPR) test. The results indicated that the utilization of SF in the rubberized concrete production enhanced the corrosion behavior and decreased corrosion current density values. Moreover, the reduction in the water and gas permeability coefficients was observed by the incorporation of SF in plain and especially rubberized concretes.

  • Akali-resistant porous glass was prepared by phase separation in Na2O-B2O3-SiO2 system containing ZrO2 and MgO. ZrO2 was added for alkali-resistance and MgO for anti-cracking during leaching. Optimal content of ZrO2 for alkali-resistance was 7wt% and devitrification by heat treatment resulted from further addition. Pore size and pore volume were decreased and specific surface area was increased with ZrO2 addition due to depression in phase separation. Addition of 3mol% MgO to mother glass containing 7wt% ZrO2 was effective for anti-crack during leaching. In this case, with phase separation at 55$0^{\circ}C$ and 5$25^{\circ}C$ for 20 hrs. crack-free porous glasses could be prepared. The relation between pore size r and heat treatment time t at 55$0^{\circ}C$ was D=25.58+18.16t. According to measurement of gas permeability, the mechanism of gas permeation was Knudsen flow. N2 and He permeability of porous glass which was prepared by heat treatment at 55$0^{\circ}C$ for 20 hrs. were 0.843$\times$10-7mol/$m^2$.s.Pa and 2.161$\times$10-7mol/$m^2$.s.Pa respectively.
