A magnetic levitation control system is nonlinear and very unstable. Thus there should be a stabilizing compensation network and a feedback path. Due to the levitation control a noncontact photoresistor sensor is generally used. One photocell provides a certain amount of variation in length by the ball shadow casted on the cell surface. Furthermore at the boundary of the cell, the linearity of sensitivity deteriorates severely. To overcome the constraints of the length and linearity, an efficient sensor array is deviced and applied in the feedback path of a large-gap magnetic levitation control system. A number of CdS photocells and a summing circuit of the sensor output signals are used for a sensor array. The levitation length of a ball and the transient performances are main objectives of the large-gap suspension system using the sensor array.

We studied the effect of self-erase discharge on the luminous efficacy of ac PDPs. We observed through discharge current analysis to confirm that the selferase discharge occurred mainly between sustain cathode and address electrode, which have an influence on the luminous efficacy. The amount and timing of the self-erase discharge was varied to observe its effect on the luminous efficacy. It has been found that the luminous efficacy could be improved by the self-erase discharge when it is adjusted to occur right before the main discharge in the small gap structure. In the long gap structure, on the contrary, the luminous efficacy could be increased when the self-erase discharge is suppressed. Also, various waveforms to control self-erase discharge are suggested and tested in the panel experiments.

Electronic structure of Calix adsorbed on epitaxial graphene (EG) was investigated using high resolution photoemission spectroscopy (HRPES). Increasing the deposition of calix molecule, we found that EG becomes n-type doping using secondary edge measurement (work function change). As we observe bonding nature of O 1s peak, we found that single O 1s peak can be clearly distinguished in the spectra indicating equivalent adsorption state. Finally, we were able to control the band gap of EG using valence band spectra as we change the amount of calix molecule. In this study, we will propose the possibility of band gap modulation of EG using calix molecule.

In case of high temperature damage such as fire, the durability of concrete is reduced due to the collapse of internal pore tissue. Therefore, in this paper, we are going to analyze the pore structure of cement paste hardening agent using MIP analysis and build up 3D data produced using X-ray CT tomography. The test specimen is made of cement paste from W/C 0.4. As the temperature of heating increased, the amount of air gap and the diameter of air gap in cement paste increased. It is judged that the air gap structure inside cement collapsed due to the evaporation of the hydrate, gel count, capillary water, etc. inside the cement due to the high temperature.

The forest canopy gap has been well known as a substantial process of forest cyclic regeneration and important role in stand structure, dynamics, and biodiversity of the forest ecosystem. Based on 3,600 $5m{\times}5m$ square grids in a 9ha permanent experimental plot, the study was conducted to evaluate the regeneration pattern of woody species by developmental stage {seedlings (<1 m of height), saplingI (>1 m of height, <2 cm of DBH), and saplingII (2 cm$<200m^2$), $201-400m^2$, $400-600m^2$, $601-800m^2$, and $>800m^2$) in the mixed broadleaved-Korean pine forest. The results indicated that the regenerating trees of Populus ussuriensis occurred only in the canopy gap area, considered to be a typical gap-dependent species. The regeneration of Ulmus japonica, Ulmus laciniata, and Maackia amurensis could be generally satisfied with the gap size of $201-600m^2$, Betula costata and Prunus padus with gap size of $401-800m^2$, Picea koraiensis with gap size of $201-800m^2$, Fraxinus mandshurica and Syringa reticulata var. mandshurica with smaller than $800m^2$, respectively. Acer ukurunduense and Acer tegmentosum were likely to have no problem with the gap size to make gap regeneration. Acer mono and Tilia amurensis looked more capable of regenerating in the closed canopy disregarding the upper crown condition. The regeneration of Pinus koraiensis and Abies nephrolepis had no trouble under the canopy condition in less than $800m^2$of gap size. The density of regenerating shrubs was rather high, especially under the closed canopy, considered to be associated with great amount of regeneration production in such shade tolerant species as Lonicera maackii, Corylus mandshurica, Euonymus pauciflorus, and Philadelphus schrenkii under the closed canopy. Pearson correlation coefficient was computed to compare the similarity among non-gap area and five gap size classes by developmental stages for trees and shrubs. The similarity coefficients among closed canopy and the gap size classes were mostly significantly correlated to each other with a few exceptions.
The laser welding was performed for the flange joint of two overlapped coaxial circular pipes which serve as the inlet and connector pipes of STS 316L. The laser welding test finally resulted in a good penetration depth of 1.8 to 2.0 mm. On the way to get the good welding quality, two important parameters were found to be optimized. One is the focal positioning which is the offset of the laser beam focus to the exact welding seam line, which is more critical in the inner flange laser welding. When the beam spot size was deviated more than $200\;{\mu}m$ from the seam line, welding of two pipes is failed. The other is a gap size since a certain amount of gap is inevitable due to fabrication tolerance, or artificial allowances for smooth insertion of a pipe. However, it is required to restrict the gap allowance within 0.2mm to avoid undesirable undercut on a welding bead.

This work deals with the electrical conductivity of dielectric on output parameters such as metal removal rate and surface roughness value of a carbon steel(SM25C) and sintered carbides cut by wire-electrical discharge machining(W-EDM). Dielectric has several functions like insulation, ionization, cooling, the removal of waste metal particles. The presence of minute particles(gap debris) in spark gap contaminates and lowers the breakdown strength of dielectric. And it is considered that too much debris in spark gap is generally believed to be the cause of arcing. Experimental results show that increases of cobalt amount in carbides affects the metal removal rate and worsens the surface quality as a greater quantity of solidified metal deposits on the eroded surface. Lower electrical conductivity of the dielectric results in a lower metal removal rate because the gap between wire electrode and workpiece reduced. Especially, the surface characteristics of rough-cut workpiece and wire electrode were analyzed too. Debris were analyzed also through scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and surface roughness tester. Micro cracks and some of electrode material are found on the workpiece surface by energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS).

Feature size of Cu interconnects keep shrinking into several tens of nanometer level. For this reason, the Cu interconnects face challenging issues such as increase of electro-migration, line-width dependent electrical resistivity increase, and gap-filling difficulty in high aspect ratio structures. As the thickness of the Cu film decreases below 30 nm, the electrical resistivity is not any more constant, but rather exponential. Research on alloying with other elements have been started to inhibit such escalation in the electrical resistivity. A faint trace of Al added in Cu film by sputtering was reported to contribute to suppression of the increase of the electrical resistivity. From an industrial point of view, we introduced cyclic metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) in order to control Al concentration in the Cu film more easily by controlling the delivery time ratio of Cu and Al precursors. The amount of alloying element could be lowered at level of below 1 at%. Process of the alloy formation was applied into gap-filling to evaluate the performance of the gap-filling. Voidless gap-filling even into high aspect ratio trenches was achieved. In-depth analysis will be discussed in detail.
One of the most efficient ways to prevent the allergic symptoms due to house dust mite allergens is to cover up the bed with beddings which is weaved out of a certain kind of textile. Therefore, in this study, the effectiveness of specified cover was verified by measurement of decreased amount of dust and house dust mite allergens. As a result, use of specified cover didn't fully prevent exposure of house dust mite allergens. But there are decreasing effect of exposure of house dust mite allergens and amount of dust.

In this paper, we investigate the correlation between the amount of English sentences that Korean English learners (L2ers) are exposed to and their sentence processing patterns by examining what Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) language models (LMs) can learn about implicit syntactic relationship: that is, the filler-gap dependency. The filler-gap dependency refers to a relationship between a (wh-)filler, which is a wh-phrase like 'what' or 'who' overtly in clause-peripheral position, and its gap in clause-internal position, which is an invisible, empty syntactic position to be filled by the (wh-)filler for proper interpretation. Here to implement L2ers' English learning, we build LSTM LMs that in turn learn a subset of the known restrictions on the filler-gap dependency from English sentences in the L2 corpus that L2ers can potentially encounter in their English learning. Examining LSTM LMs' behaviors on controlled sentences designed with the filler-gap dependency, we show the characteristics of L2ers' sentence processing using the information-theoretic metric of surprisal that quantifies violations of the filler-gap dependency or wh-licensing interaction effects. Furthermore, comparing L2ers' LMs with native speakers' LM in light of processing the filler-gap dependency, we not only note that in their sentence processing both L2ers' LM and native speakers' LM can track abstract syntactic structures involved in the filler-gap dependency, but also show using linear mixed-effects regression models that there exist significant differences between them in processing such a dependency.
