In the multi-pass welding of pressure vessels or ships, the mechanical touch sensor system is generally used together with a manipulator to measure the gap and depth of the narrow gap to perform seam tracking. Unfortunately, such mechanical touch sensors may commit measuring errors caused by the deterioration of the measuring device. An automation system of narrow gap multi-pass welding using a laser vision system which can track the seam line of narrow gap and which can control welding power has been developed. The joint profile of the narrow gap, with 250mm depth and 28mm width, can be captured by laser vision camera. The image is then processed for defining tracking positions of the torch during welding. Then, the real-time correction of lateral and vertical position of the torch can be done by the laser vision system. The adaptive control of welding conditions like welding currents and welding speeds, can also be performed by the laser vision system, which cannot be done by conventional mechanical touch systems. The developed automation system will be adopted to reduce the idle time of welders, which happens frequently in conventional long welding processes, and to improve the reliability of the weld quality as well.

The purpose of the study is to determine the poverty and distributional effects of the implementation of Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Law. The Computable General Equilibrium-Top Down Behavioral Microsimulation was used to obtain the effects of the tax reform on macroeconomic and microeconomic levels. Moreover, the Poverty Gap Index, Squared Poverty Gap Index, Foster, Greer, and Thorbecke Measures of Poverty, and Sen-Shorrocks-Thon Index were used to measure the poverty effect of the tax reform. Meanwhile, the Gini Coefficient and SST Gini Coefficient Index were used to measure the distributional effect of the tax reform. The results show that the implementation of the tax reform has resulted in a significant increase in household income and disposable income. Region IV has the highest estimated increase in household income. Meanwhile, Region IV remained to have the lowest household income. Further, the findings of this study suggest that the tax reform resulted in a significant decrease in the magnitude of poor and the number of poor in the Philippines. However, the result of the study also suggests that the effect of tax reform manifests no differences in terms of the poverty gap measured through the Foster, Greer, and Thorbecke poverty index due.
The construction technology for reactor vessel internals (RVI) modularization is one of the most important factors to be considered in reducing the construction period of nuclear power plants. For RVI modularization, gaps between the reactor vessel (RV) core-stabilizing lug and the core support barrel (CSB) snubber lug must be measured using a remote method from outside the RV. In order to measure RVI gaps remotely at nuclear power plant construction sites, certain core technologies must be developed and verified. These include a remote measurement system to measure the gaps between the RV core-stabilizing lug and the CSB snubber lug, an RVI mockup to perform the gap measurement tests, and a new procedure and schedule for RVI installation. A remote measurement system was developed previously, and a gap measurement test was completed successfully using the RVI mockup. We also developed a new procedure and schedule for RVI installation. This paper presents the new and improved installation procedure and schedule for RVI modularization. These are expected to become core technologies that will allow us to shorten the construction period by a minimum of two months compared to the existing installation procedure and schedule.
It is important to measure the rotational accuracy of lathe spindle as it affects to the qualities of all machines machined by the lathe using in industries. The bad rotational accuracy of lathe spindle are caused mainly by wearness of the spindle in using and quality of spindle when machining and using low level bearings. It occurs especially in case of lathes because the cutting force acting to work-piece act on one side to the spindle not to both sides symmetrically. Therefore in this study, constructing experimental apparatus for measuring of rotational accuracy by using eddy current type gap sensors AEC5706PS and sensors, s-06LN, data acquisition board DT9834(USB type) and software for data acquisition, DT Measure Foundry ver. 4.0.7 etc., error data acquired in the rotational accuracy test of lathe spindle are analysed in plots and statistical treatments.
This paper presents a new method and an associated device, capable of detecting protein presence and size from the shift of the mechanical stiffness changing points due to the presence and size of proteins in a nano-gap actuator. Compared to the conventional resonant detection method, the present nanomechanical stiffness detection method shows higher precision for protein detection. The present method also offers simple and inexpensive protein detection devices by removing labeling process and optical components. We design and fabricate the nanomechanical protein detector using an electrothermal actuator with a nano-gap. In the experimental study, we measure the stiffness changing points and their coordinate shift from the devices with and without target proteins. The fabricated device detects the protein presence and the protein size of 14.0$\pm$7.4nm based on the coordinate shift of stiffness changing points. We experimentally verify the protein presence and size detection capability of the nanomechanical protein detector for applications to high-precision biomolecule detection.
SAW device is widely used as filters, sensors, actuators in various technologies. And capacitive sensor is tremendously used to measure pressure, gap, etc. The application of SAW device as signal conditioner of capacitive sensor reduces noise level and enables high precision measurement. The response increase of SAW based capacitive sensor is produced just before the two capacitive electrode contacts by the existence of parasitic resistance of capacitive electrode. In this paper, we analyze the effects of parasitic resistance and propose the calibrating method using lumped component and execute the high precision gap measurement using calibrated system. And xx nm resolution and yy ${\mu}m$ stroke was attained.
We analyzed voltage characteristics of toner particle type display according to particle layers and cell gap between two electrodes and ascertained the aging effects by measuring the response time of particles with and without aging process. The threshold/driving/breakdown voltage is proportional to layers of toner particles and cell gap and the response time at driving voltage is faster than that of threshold and breakdown voltage because of different q/m of color and black particles. The analysis of response time is a method of estimation of optical characteristics, driving voltage and particle lumping and these results are promoted by aging process. We use the laser and photodiode to measure response time and optical properties. It has not been studied and reported to analyze the relationship of response time, threshold/driving/breakdown voltage, lumping phenomena, cell gap, and aging process for toner particle type display.
The purpose of this study is to solve the problem of revision or abbreviation of questionnaires based on the previous studies suggested by many existing empirical studies. In addition, this study aims to provide the theoretical basis of the research method which has been variously approached since it presents the methodology that can directly measure the research object. For this purpose, this study proposed a more elaborate analysis method using the differences in perception of individuals who are interested in cognitive research. Specifically, the perception gap(D) can be used as an independent variable, a dependent variable, and a moderating variable. And this study suggested an effective research approach using the measurement of perception difference. The difference of perception suggested that it can be used as a measure to overcome the limitations of existing researches used it as independent variables or mediating variables that measure only one factor of expectation and performance or importance and satisfaction. In addition, it is highly likely that various analyzes on the perception differences, which are the result of measuring target factors for the same person, will be quite effective in the situation where follow-up of respondents is difficult. This study is expected to overcome various limitations reported by empirical studies such as scale utilization problem and follow-up survey difficulty. In future research, it was expected that the limitation of the factor derivation process in the research approach could be complemented by web crawling and text mining of big data analysis.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the marginal gap of all-ceramic crowns fabricated by CEREC$^{(R)}$ in-office CAD/CAM system. Methods: The mandibular first molar was selected as the abutment for the experiments. Thirty working models were prepared. VITA Mark II(VM) and VITA Enamic(VE), LAVA Ultimate(LU) blocks were milled using CEREC MCXL with CEREC 3D system to construct 10 crowns for each groups. To measure marginal gap, milled restorations were examined under digital microscope with scale under 160x magnifications. The results were statistically analyzed using the one-way ANOVA and Tukey's HSD test(${\alpha}=0.05$). Results: There was no significant difference in the marginal gap regarding to ceramic materials(p>0.05). Conclusion: Single crowns fabricated using CEREC in-office CAD/CAM system provided clinically acceptable marginal gap. This confirmed that the type of ceramic material used does not determine the precision of fit of a prosthesis.
In the block type VHTR core, there are inevitable gaps among core blocks for the installation and refueling of the fuel blocks. These gaps are called bypass gap and the bypass flow is defined as a coolant flows through the bypass gap. Distribution of core bypass flow varies according to the reactor operation since the graphite core blocks are deformed by the fast neutron irradiation and thermal expansion. Furthermore, the cross-flow through an interfacial gap between the stacked blocks causes flow mixing between the coolant holes and bypass gap, so that complicated flow distribution occurs in the core. Since the bypass flow affects core thermal margin and reactor efficiency, accurate prediction and evaluation of the core bypass flow are very important. In this regard, experimental and computational studies were carried out to evaluate the core bypass flow distribution. A multi-block experimental apparatus was constructed to measure flow and pressure distribution. Multi-block effect such as cross flow phenomenon was investigated in the experiment. The experimental data were used to validate a CFD model foranalysis of bypass flow characteristics in detail.
