곡률 반경이 큰 환상관 간극에서 CCFL에 대한 실험 연구 (An Experimental Study on the CCFL in Narrow Annular Gaps with Large Diameter)

  • A CCFL(Counter Current Flow Limit) test have been performed in narrow annular gaps with large diameter, because it has been confirmed that the CCFL phenomena affected the critical power in hemispherical narrow gap geometries from the SONATA(Simulation Of Naturally Arrested Thermal Attack)-IV (In-Vessel)/VISU(Visualization)-II experiments. The objectives of the CCFL experiments are to investigate the small gap sizes(1, 2mm) effect on CCFL under the large diameter condition and to confirm the findings of the VISU-II study that global dryout in hemispherical narrow gaps was induced by the CCFL. The test section was made of acrylic resin to allow visual observation on the two-phase flow behaviors inside annular gaps. It was observed from visualization that a part of water supplied was accumulated in the upper plenum and a significant increase in the differential pressure across the gap was occurred, which was the definition of the CCFL occurrence in this experimental study. From the experimental results in annular gap with large diameter it can be known that an increase in the differential pressure was not big at small air flow-rates. When the CCFL was occurred, the differential pressure across gaps was increased significantly and a water accumulated in the upper plenum. The occurrence of CCFL was correlated using the Wallis parameter.

프로펠러 및 선미반류에 의해 영향을 받는 혼-타의 캐비테이션 관찰 및 간극 유동에 대한 가시화 연구 (Cavitation Observation and Visualization of the Gap Flows on a Rudder Influenced by Propeller Slipstream and Hull Wakes)

  • In the present study, the influences on the gap cavitaiton of the semi-spade rudder are investigated experimentally in the condition with propeller and hull wakes. To reduce the scale effect in the given experimental conditions, 1/28.5-scale-down models of propeller and rudder are manufactured. We have the propeller rotate ahead of the rudder, inducing the three dimensional effects originated from the propeller action. Experimental methods are composed of the cavitation observation using high speed camera, PIV (particle image velocimetry) measurements to visualize the cavitaition and flows around the gap. The propeller slipstream affects both of the gap flows and cavitation of the rudder.

  • Titania sols or powders were are very promising materials for environment as photocatalyst. The band gap energy of $TiO_2$ has been known to be 2.8 to 3.2 eV. But the measuring system of its band gap is usually depend on absorption properties. Thus, in this study, absorption properties of $TiO_2$ sols prepared by hydrothermal process were researched with the effect of various particle sizes and concentrations. The mean particle size in $TiO_2$ sols increased as 15 nm to 60 nm, absorption graph measured by UV-Vis spectrometer shows to move red-shift. When dilute solution added with $2^n$ in $TiO_2$, the band gap energy increases as linear function.

전기절연유의 절연파괴에 미치는 전극간격 및 곡률반경의 영향 (The Influence of Gap Length and Tip Radius on Breakdown of Electrical Insulating Oil)

  • In this paper, we investigated the influence of gap length and tip radius on breakdown of mineral based insulation oil. Applied voltages were DC and AC voltage. Electrode system was needle-plane structure. The tip radius of needle electrode was 5, 10, 20 and 25${\mu}m$, respectively. We measured breakdown voltage for each of tip radius with increasing electrode gap, 2mm to 12mm. Electric breakdown strength at tip was calculated using Mason's equation contained geometric figure. As gap length increased, breakdown strength increased linearly. But, as tip radius of needle increased, breakdown strength decreased exponentially. It can be explained by the phenomenon that electron is easily injected, as tip radius increases, and effective work function decreases. When appling DC voltage, breakdown strength was higher when polarity of needle was negative than positive. It is because of the space charge effect in accordance with the influence of liquid motion.

보조 공동과 간극을 갖는 원통형 공동의 음향 전달 특성 (Acoustic Transmission Characteristics of the Cylindrical Cavity with an Auxiliary Cavity and a Gap)

  • 본 논문에서는 원통형 공동계의 음향 전달 특성에 대하여 이론적으로 검토한다. 원통형 공동계는 성덕대왕 신종의 음향 공동을 단순화시킨 모델로, 주 공동, 보조 공동 및 간극으로 구성되어 있다. 주 공동 내부에 점음원을 주고 내부 및 외부 음장에서의 주파수 응답 특성과 음향 모드를 구하였다. 그 결과는 SYSNOISE를 이용한 경계요소 해석결과와 비교하여 타당성을 확인하였다. 제안된 이론모델을 이용하여 간극과 보조 공동이 음향계의 공명 주파수와 음향 전달 특성에 미치는 영향을 규명하였다. 마지막으로 음원 주파수를 공동 내부에서 외부로 가장 잘 전달시키는 보조 공동과 간극의 조합을 결정하였다.

Geometric structure and electronic behavior of Rh decorating effect on zigzag CNTs (n=7-12): A DFT study

  • Comprehensive calculations of the Rh decoration effect on zigzag CNTs with n ranging from 7 to 12 were conducted in this work to understand the effect of Rh doping on geometric structures and electronic behaviors upon metallic and semiconducting CNTs. The obtained results indicated that Rh dopant not only contributes to the deformation of C-C bonds on the sidewall of CNTs, but also transforms the electron distribution of related complexes, thereby leading to a remarkable increase of the conductivity of pure CNTs given the emerged novel state within the energy gap for metallic CNTs and the narrowed energy gap for semiconducting CNTs. Our calculations will be meaningful for exploiting novel CNT-based materials with better sensitivity to electrons and higher electrical conductivity compared with pure CNTs.

  • 초음속 충동형 터빈에 대하여 로터 팁 간극이 터빈 성능에 미치는 영향을 고찰하기 위하여 팁 간극이 변화된 터빈에 대하여 3차원 유동해석을 수행하였다. 계산 결과 팁 간극이 증가함에 따라 터빈의 효율이 감소하고 팁으로 유출되는 유량이 증가함을 확인하였으며 팁 간극에 의한 유동교란보다는 누설손실 의한 영향이 터빈성능감소에 더 큰 영향을 주는 것을 확인하였다.

  • The HgCdTe material, which is II-VI compound semiconductor, is important materials for the fabrication of the infrared detectros. To suggest the model of accurate MIS C-V calculation for narrow band gap semiconductors such as HgCdTe, non-parabolicity from k.p theory and degeneracy effect are considered. And partially ionized effect and compensation effect which are material's properties are also considerd. Especially, degenerated material C-V characteristics from Fermi-Dirac statistics and exact charge theory are presented to get more accurate analysis of the experimental results. Also the comparison with calculation results between the general MIS theory from Boltzmann appoximation method and this model which is considered the narrow band gap semiconductor properties, show that this model is more useful theory to determination of accurate low and high frequency C-V characteristics.

스퀴즈 효과를 고려한 사판식 피스톤 펌프 홀더의 그루브 유무에 따른 부하특성에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Load Characteristics of a Swash Plate Piston Pump Holder (Cradle) with Grooves Considering the Squeeze Effect)

  • The load characteristics of a piston pump holder due to the squeeze effect are influenced by the surface shape and gap thickness of the holder (cradle). Therefore, the pressure distribution and the load capacity of the piston pump holder due to the squeeze effect are studied by using the CFD software and the surface shape and gap thickness of the piston pump holder are considered. In order to verify the accuracy of numerical results, the load capacities of a circular plate holder are numerically studied, and the accuracy of numerical results is verified by comparing with the theoretical results. Also, the pressure distribution and load capacity of the rectangular plate holder of a piston pump are obtained by using the CFD software. The results show that the load capacity of the square plate holder with grooves is slightly higher at a low gap thickness, but the effects of the number and arrangement of grooves on the load capacity of the holder are weak. We conclude that the load capacity and the maximum pressure are slightly affected due to the existence of grooves on the holder surface, and the fluid storing effect of the holder surface grooves during the operation is likely to prevent the dry-sticking phenomenon.

  • The GJB2 mutation is mostly recessive in non-syndromic hearing loss, but specific mutations display a dominant type and syndromic hearing impairment. Both U54K and R75Q mutations present a dominant type in pedigrees with associated skin disorders. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether two GJB2 mutations can exhibit a dominant-negative effect on the growth abrogation and the gap junctional intercellular communication capacity exerted by wild-type connexin 26. A specific mutant region of GJB2 showed a loss of gap junction activity and a dominant negative effect on wild-type GJB2. The two mutants exerted a dominant-negative effect on the GJIC capacity and have independently effected GJB2 regulated growth of Hela cells; however, they have no dominant-negative growth effect on wild-type GJB2. It is proposed that the different mechanisms of the dominant-negative effect on wild-type GJB2 involve cell growth and GJIC function. This study describes mutations found in Korean deaf patients and that are typical of other east Asian regions.
