Purpose: This paper is aimed to report the effects of Gamiguibitang on the Climacteric Syndrome. Methods: A patient who had been suffering from Climacteric symptoms was enrolled in this study. She received oriental treatment such as herbal medicine for 3 months. We gave her Gamiguibitang five times. During the treatments, we requested her to visit hospital twice a week. If she could not come to hospital, we called her to take follow-up. Results : After oriental medical treatments, several symptoms of Climacteric Syndrome were improved. Conclusion: This clinical case indicate that Gamiguibitang is effective in treatment of the Climacteric Syndrome. More clinical data and studies are requested for the treatment of Climacteric Syndrome Patient.

Clinical study on one case of climacteric syndrome induced hysterectomy climacteric syndrome is symptoms of physical, mental, physiological in menopausal period. Importance of treatment of climacteric symptoms was on the rise recently. I have treated one patient who has mental depression, anxiety, impatience, impotence, palpitations, facial flushing, abdominal pain in the menopausal period in Dongshin University Oriental Hospital. I took acupunture, moxibustion, cupping, and also I made herbal medicine-gamiguibitang(加味歸脾湯). As a result, I got a good effect through above methods. So I came to write this case report.

Gamiguibitang(GMGBT) is used in amenorrhea and female infertility caused by ovulation disorder. An attempt was made to evaluate the influences of GMGBT on the serum concentrations of FSH, LH, estradiol(E2) and progesterone, the histological and optical changes of ovary of rats. The results of the study were as follows: 1. Blood FSH level significantly increased in experimental group controlled by four times quantity as compared with control group. 2. Blood LH level increased in experimental group controlled by four times quantity as compared with control group, which showed no efficacy. 3. Blood E2 level increased in experimental group controlled by four times quantity as compared with control group, which showed no efficacy. 4. Blood progesterone level significantly decreased in experimental group controlled by double quantity as compared with control group. 5. In optically observations of ovary, weight of ovary significantly increased in experimental group controlled by double quantity as compared with control group 6. In histological observations of ovary, ovulation significantly increased in experimental group controlled by both double and four times quantity as compared with control group. According to these results, it can be concluded that GMGBT influences the pituitary gland and ovary to increase the ovulation of rats.

A 50-year-old female patient who had anovulational uterine with acute heavy uterine bleeding from the 18th., October, 2006 was hosptalized from the 7th November, 2006 to the 18th, November, 2006 in Dongshindae suncheon Oriental Medical hospital. The patient had been treated with herb-meidcation, acupuncture therapy and moxa therapy. In acupuncture therapy Sp10(Hyulhae, 血海,) Liv3(Taechung, 太衝) Sp6(Samumgyo, 三陰交) Cv6(Gihae. 氣海) Cv12(chunwan, 中脘) L14(Hapgok. 合谷) L7(列缺), were used on the 7th, November, 2006. In the Herbal Therapy, Seungynaggihyultang, Gamiguibitang, was used, In the Moxa therapy, Cv6(Gigae, 氣海) Cv12(chunwnas, 中脘) were used.

Gamiguibi-tang (GGBT) is a traditional herbal medicine generally used to treat anemia, insomnia, anxiety, and nervousness. GGBT is being commercially produced in the form of extract granule and the quality control methods are specified in the Korean Herbal Pharmacopeia (KHP). However, there is no method to simultaneously analyze compound preparations. In this study, a HPLC method was developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of marker compounds in GGBT. And the contents of marker components and biological activities of the commercial GGBT extract granules (GGBT-2 and GGBT-3) were compared with those of the GGBT decoction (GGBT-1). We confirmed the robustness of simultaneous analytical method by monitoring the contents of the commercial GGBT products and carrying out validation. The marker components of GGBT were geniposide ($8.03{\sim}12.70{\mu}g/mL$), paeoniflorin ($2.79{\sim}4.25{\mu}g/mL$) and glycyrrhizic acid ($5.06{\sim}6.30{\mu}g/mL$). DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities were 47.34~63.17% and 21.52~33.61% in the GGBT products concentration of $1,000{\mu}g/mL$, respectively. The GGBT products significantly decreased NO, iNOS and COX-2 production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages in a concentration-dependent manner. The GGBT-2 had higher contents of marker components and biological activities than GGBT-1 and GGBT-3. The research suggest that be used in developing quality control methods for enhancing the quality of herbal medicines.
