Among the various security threats in online games, the use of game bots is the most serious problem. Previous studies on game bot detection have proposed many methods to find out discriminable behaviors of bots from humans based on the fact that a bot's playing pattern is different from that of a human. In this paper, we look at the chatting data that reflects gamers' communication patterns and propose a communication pattern analysis framework for online game bot detection. In massive multi-user online role playing games (MMORPGs), game bots use chatting message in a different way from normal users. We derive four features; a network feature, a descriptive feature, a diversity feature and a text feature. To measure the diversity of communication patterns, we propose lightly summarized indices, which are computationally inexpensive and intuitive. For text features, we derive lexical, syntactic and semantic features from chatting contents using text mining techniques. To build the learning model for game bot detection, we test and compare three classification models: the random forest, logistic regression and lazy learning. We apply the proposed framework to AION operated by NCsoft, a leading online game company in Korea. As a result of our experiments, we found that the random forest outperforms the logistic regression and lazy learning. The model that employs the entire feature sets gives the highest performance with a precision value of 0.893 and a recall value of 0.965.
The need of high quality VR contents has been steadily raised in recent years. Therefore, this study investigated the user's interest factors of VR game which is receiving the most attention among VR contents. We used STEAM review data and applied Text mining and Network analysis to perform this research. As a result, it was possible to confirm 4 word clusters related VR game users. Each cluster is named by 'presence', 'first person view game', 'auditory factor' and 'interaction'. This study has its meaning. First, user related research would be very helpful to develop high quality VR game. Second, it confirms that review data of VR game users can be structured, analyzed and used.
As the performance of game consoles is so highly progressed that services such as internet browsing become available on the consoles, the need for text input schemes on game consoles is rapidly raised. In this paper, we present a text input method of alphabet characters and several symbols using a gamepad, which is a widely used input device for most game consoles. Just like other text input methods using gamepad, our method allows users to enter texts by manipulating the gamepad with a user interface displayed on the screen of the console. A key idea of this paper is to present the user interface that is similar to the $4{\times}3$ keypad on mobile phones. The motivation of this idea is a principle that the experience of using a text input tool can be transferred to another tool that has similar interface. Another motivation is that the keyboard-based interface is too complex to be easily manipulated by simple input from a keypad, which is four orthogonal directions and several fire signals. Since most of keys on keypad of $4{\times}3$ keys are represented by a combination of two orthogonal directions, users feel easier in entering texts using keypad-based interface. We prove this argument in this paper by a user test of ten subjects. After about two experiment sessions, subjects reach 13 WPM in average, which proves that the proposed text input method enables much faster text input than the existing keyboard-based text input methods.
With the development of fourth industrial revolution-related technology and increased demands for non-face-to-face services, VR games attract attention. This study collected VR game review data from an online game platform STEAM and analyzed chronical trends using text mining and word cloud analysis. According to the results, experience and perceived cost were major trends from 2016 to 2017, increased demands for FPS and rhythm games were from 2018 to 2019, and story and immersion were from 2020 to 2021. It aims to contribute to expanding the base of VR games by identifying the keywords VR users take interest in by period.
Classifying digital games' genres is quite ambiguous work, as they have been using other media's genre classification such as film genre. Therefore this paper tries to propose a new way of classifying genres of digital games. There are two kinds of approaches to digital games genres: one is based on gamers' activities and the other is on game text. The former turned out to be limitative because the meanings of gamers' activities are sometimes overlapped and this overlapping causes lack of objectivity in deciding which activity belongs to which genre. On the other hand, the latter is comparatively clear and accurate as it is based on what a game text provides. After all. a new classification of digital games based on game text makes total of 7 digital game types, which are Physical obstacles, Mainly Physical & partially intellectual obstacles, Intellectual obstacles, Mainly intellectual & partially physical obstacles, Self-supporting games, Confronting games, Ranking games, and each type has its own convention and characteristics.
The purpose of this study is to analyze Korean game-related issues and policies to increase the effectiveness of related policies in the future and to increase the consistency of social norms of the policies. this study analyzes related issues by analyzing changes in Korean newspaper articles using spline function and text mining methods, and analyzes the contents of newspaper articles at the time of amplification of issues to present major issues and development directions. As a result of the analysis, game-related issues appeared in various topic, and there are not only support from the government and local governments but also coexisted with game-related regulations (taxation, gambling regulations, game addiction disease, and prevention of fee expansion). Despite regulations, the government presents preemptive responses to problems caused by the application of metabuses and NFTs to games, fostering game-related experts, start-up support, and supporting manpower departure as policy implications.
As the role of soccer game analyst who analyzes soccer games and creates soccer wining strategies is emphasized, it is required to have high-level analysis beyond the procedural ones such as main event detection in the context of IT based broadcasting soccer game research community. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to generate the high-level in-depth analysis results via real-time text based soccer Webcast and text mining. Proposed method creates a metadata such as attribute, action and event, build index, and then generate available knowledges via text mining techniques such as association rule mining, event growth index, and pathfinder network analysis using Webcast and domain knowledges. We carried out a feasibility experiment on the proposed technique with the Webcast text about Spain team's 2010 World Cup games.
This paper studies the GUI design of motion-sensing game character selection. The game's GUI plays a role in transferring information in human-computer interaction. The purpose of this game player-oriented GUI design is to optimize the human-computer interaction, make the operation more user-friendly, reduce the user's cognitive burden, and better adapt to the user's operation needs. This paper combines examples to compare and analyze these three games from three aspects: text, color and form. In the existing motion-sensing game games, the character selection GUI has a design feature of high recognition and strong visibility. Finally, suggestions for GUI design of motion-sensing game games are given. It is hoped that in the future, reference materials will be provided for the GUI design of experience game character selection.

As an advance in medical technology development is being made, and people are increasingly aware of the importance of health, related investments and people's average life expectancy rise, which in turn leads to an increase in elderly people. Also, with a growing number of elderly people enjoying their leisure activities, the utilization of multimedia contents using computers is on the increase, leading to an activated research into the establishment of digital culture for the elderly people. This paper proposes a Korean text input system to enable the elderly to utilize digital contents. Text input interface has conventionally depended on keyboards. However, the keyboard wherein many keys are dispersed creates problems for the elderly, such as a protracted recognition of keys and a lowered concentration when they use the keyboard. To address these problems, in this paper, the grip type controller interface for console games was used and a corresponding alphabet location algorithm was developed. To verify these efforts, a simulator was developed to test 20 elderly people; as a result, their satisfaction over and convenience of using the grip type interface invreased.
This study focused on the games that were in the spotlight during the One Source Multi-use era, analyzing game based movies and the games. Through this, we wanted to examine the phenomena, changes, and in-depth meanings of the genre and grammar. Using Vogler's "12 Stages of the Hero Journey" and Greimas's "Model actantie" the three works of Need for Speed, Assassin Creed and Warcraft were cross-analyzed. Through this analysis, we looked at the structure of the discourse and identified the significant messages brought by the change in text.
