  • The advent of realistic technologies such as AR has extended the interaction area from the computer environment to the offline space. As demand is expected to increase in the future, the need for study on interactive storytelling that mediates online and offline is emerging. This study proposes a storytelling structure to achieve a balance between interactivity and narrativity in interactive narrative characterized by online and offline mediation. According to a case study of ARG and AR games based on Henry Jenkins' theory of 'Environmental Storytelling', there should be a balance between the space designed by the game designer and the space created by the player's interaction, and the roles should be properly distributed in both online and offline spaces to contribute to the formation of narrative together. In addition, it is necessary to borrow the characteristics of ARG that achieves a balance of interactivity and narrativity based on offline spatiality. The significance of this study is to expand the area of interactive storytelling, which has been discussed centering on online, to offline, and to suggest the interaction area as a factor to consider. In addition, as a basic study related to storytelling that mediates online and offline, it is expected to provide a direction for the development of content based on realistic technologies.

  • The purpose of this study is to present guidelines for service design for efficient operation of Maker Space due to the proliferation of Maker Movement. First, we investigate the literature survey and prior research on the definition and status of Maker space. Second, we performed video ethnography, participant observation and in-depth interview on maker space service by qualitative survey method. Third, we analyze the surveyed contents and present guidelines such as Persona or Blueprint for maker space. We classify Maker space into general lab and professional lab, derive Persona from each Maker space, and establish Blueprint to provide guidelines for design and operation. It is expected that the Maker space service design presented in this study can be used as a guideline to help the service improvement of the existing Maker space and the planning, design and operation of the new Maker space.

  • UI design is growing in meaning and form itself through the development of hardware and contents. And it makes users accept its interface as a extension of the body and mind because of the substantial rapport of the user and contents with developing of device and graphic. In this study, we analyzed user interface in a view of digital storytelling by observing of its role within user and contents. Not only this, classifying and investigating story elements in the games for forming the theoretical basis of storytelling UI are enforced. For the case study of UI, we choose the game, Diablo, Half-Life, and Homeworld because the game is suitable for the application of node-type storytelling and effectively uses graphic and input unit. This analysis explains the interface has the contents data that divided or shared and it means the interface performs its part of story nodes, which are extracted from the story, and choice. And we analogized that the story elemental can be substituted and used practically for interface because the stories made through the thing that users and developers are in the space of coexistence by the interface. Storytelling UI will be a good way to make a most intriguing piece as a joyful spontaneous complex that use story node. It is worth by reason of making by user and discovering live inner story so that it can approach to the substance of the story.

  • In this paper, a new GPC(Generalized Predictive Control) algorithm which is robust to disturbances isproposed. This controller minimizes the LQ cost function when the disturbance maximizes this cost function. The solution is obtained from the min-max problem which can be solved by differential game theory and has the non-recursive form which does not use the Riccati equation. Its another solution for state space models is investigated.

  • The development of computer graphics techniques came after development of various entertainment industry such as movies, game and so on, and techniques that make diverse objects in virtual space and control the action of objects are growing rapidly. Especially objects(characters) play an important role in encouraging virtual space at computer animation field. If lots of objects are animated in virtual space, undesired matters of fixed topography or collision between objects etc occur. In order to solve this problem, we need control techniques in detail. This paper presents and implements collision evasion with submarine topography in a virtual aquarium and control technique about collision evasion with other objects.

  • Crowd behavior simulations have been studied to further accelerated and refined by parallelism by inducing agent-interacting forces into the image field representing the forces of attraction and repulsion. However, it was difficult to consider rapidly changing environments such as fire situations in buildings because texture images must be generated in advance simulation starts and simulations can only be performed in 2D spaces. In this paper, we propose a crowd agent behavior simulation method based on agent's 3D affordance field for flexible agent behavior in variable geomorphological environments in 3D space. The proposed method generates 3D affordance field related to agents and sensors in 3D space and defines the agent behavior in 3D space for the crowd behavior simulation based on an image-inducing field to a 3D space. Experimental results verified that our method enables the development of large-scale crowd behavior simulations that are flexible to various fire evacuation situations in 3D virtual spaces.

  • With the advent of a new services environment based on high-speed mobile networks and high-performance mobile devices, users in real life require content-centric services that provide personalized information conveniently and efficiently. These services are defined as ambient services. To implement and support sustainable ambient services, there is a critical need to conduct research regarding practicable models and methodologies. This paper proposes an effective model for ambient services based on the personalization of real-life space. The model consists of Public Info-space, Universal Info-space and Private Info-space. We also show a methodology for implementing the model with currently available techniques in order to prove that the model and methodology constitute an applicable solution to developing true ambient services. Finally, a kind of role-playing game which is built on a real university campus is presented to show the model to be available, where the test bed infrastructure consists of wireless mesh networks and real-time location systems (RTLSes).
