  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the research literature on play therapy intervention for children with ADHD. Thirty-nine studies, conducted from 1995 to 2010, were analyzed. The results of the literature review are as follows: The most commonly studied subjects were elementary school children in grades 1-3. The most common subject selection method was to select ADHD tendency children. The most typical intervention setting used was a counseling center. The most frequent intervention was 11-15 sessions of group counseling. Pre-post experimental-control research designs were the most commonly used. In the analyzed studies, play therapy-game play therapy, CBPT, CCPT, sand play therapy, and theraplay- was used for ADHD children. The studies found that game play therapy and cognitive-behavior play therapy are effective for improving ADHD children's attention, impulsiveness, and self-control. • This paper aims to propose the educational concept and design model of a Smart Board Game appropriate for lower elementary grade students. The Smart Board Game refers to a hybrid, or 'convergent', game format based on the offline format of the conventional board game augmented through the use of smart devices. The substantive aspects of this game format utilize the procedural deduction and problem-solving skills applicable in storytelling methodologies and games, in order to generate and propose contents ideal for the educational environment. The development of the Smart Board Game is conducted through the following stages. First, the study analyzes a number of Smart Board Games currently popular in Korea and abroad, based on identification of the key components and processes of the board game format. The subsequent review of the science curriculum for lower elementary grades aims to determine the aspects conducive for application to Smart Board Games. Lastly, the theoretical framework outlined through the previous stages is used as the basis for the proposal of a detailed model of contents for the smart board game concept.

  • Digital Game design with educational purposes and User Experience measurement via game analytics has been extensively covered in literature, however non-digital games such as tabletops in education and its corresponding educational impact have limited research. In this paper, we propose a guideline to create non-digital educational games from scratch and evaluate them based on the know-how of developers and the investigation of scholars who have studied the engagement factors related to the digital games and applied their findings to non-digital games. Along with the guideline we provide an actual implementation, a game called HXGN_766, meant to serve as scaffolding of computational thinking and rudimentary Python programing concepts. We believe both, guideline and game, can be a useful reference for those interested on game design, educational content design, game quality control check, and unplugged computer science activities. This is the first in a series of papers where the game design concept, the evaluation methodology and the game itself will be presented with more detail.

  • This study aims to investigate the transition of the game rating system in Korea and to search for problems and improvement measures in the era of IARC game grade review. IARC(International Age Rating Coalition) is an International Classification Alliance, with 37 member organizations from 6 countries. In addition, IARC grants participating store-fronts autonomy to review game ratings. The method of deliberating games in Korea is proceeding with direct review by rating system and deliberation by IARC's own classification system. The problem of the rating system of the game is that the civilian becomes the subject, it relies on the questionnaire, and its side effects are caused by its own classification system. IARC guidelines can be developed to improve the game rating system, education on penalties and ratings for game developers, and management of participating front-stores. In conclusion, it may be dangerous to delegate rating authority to open market, and it is necessary to construct a discussion forum for ratings, including government and industry, game developers, users, and parents of under-age gamers. It is necessary to create a rating system for the game environment in Korea.

  • In this paper, Computer Games is still going strong. We are still making incremental improvements to the computer game, mobile game, but it seems to have settled into a fairly standard version and layout. Many games have passed through our life over the past couple of years. A number of the best have been written about in these games. Unfortunately there are too many games and too little time, and make some hard choices about what games actually play regularly. This is obviously a very personal list of favorite games, and change fairly regularly as new games rotate in and old games are given a rest for a while. It brings ours to the question of what we look for in a game, and why choose one game to play over another? What does make a game good enough to play time after time? Therefore, a game has to have, above all, interesting tactics and strategy, but also we like originality and simplicity. There is also a certain quality that is very difficult to define that makes some games beautiful. At last in this issue we return to mobile oriented games. This paper will discuss Computer Game Conditions in terms of the different games, components, and Design amd Implementation of Computer Game Menu Simulation based on 4GL, PowerBuilder.

  • Although computer games seem to be efficient tools for facilitating and supporting situated learning in Europe, GBL(game based learning) is less likely in Korea. The objectives of this paper are to address the causes of the problem and evaluate a serious game for history GBL. We review various cases of history GBL projects in European School Net, commercial games and serious games which are related to history. We draw a demand of our game's structural type, learning criterion, basic model of instruction, and executable prototype from the analysis results. Scene management educators pursue and dependencies of turning points in the history are critical differentiator. An evaluation team of educators, learners, and edu-game managers evaluates that the prototype is suitable model for application in history instruction.

  • Twenty years have passed since the first game department was established in Korea. We now need to review and foresee the future of game department curriculums. In this paper, we characterize and analyze the current curriculums of game departments in Korean colleges. The study focuses on the detailed course works based on the game making processes, which are largely composed of game design, game programming and game graphic design. Then we analyze the past curriculum changes of the game programming and the game graphic design departments. Also, we survey the curriculums of cinema departments which are older than game departments, thus may show the hint for the future of game departments. As the results of the analysis, the curriculums of game departments have to strengthen the game design related courses and have to expand the game making exercise courses.
