A Study on the Development and Application of the Learning Material for Mathematics Optional Activities. - Focused on 8-ga Grade - (수학 교과 재량활동에 대한 학습자료 개발 및 적용에 관한 연구 -8-가 단계를 중심으로-)

  • This study purported to develop the learning materials for the optional activities of mathematics, apply them to the students, and examine the effect on the learner's interest and attitude to mathematics. In order to conduct this study, the learning materials for the mathematics optional activities were developed according to the units of grade 8-Ga and the developed learning materials of the mathematics optional activities were inputted in two classes for 18 units after the second grade middle school students in Daejeon area received the questionnaire regarding the learning attitude and the interest in the mathematics. After that, the questionnaire regarding the learning attitude and the interest in the mathematics and the examination regarding the response to the application of the learning materials for mathematics optional activities were conducted and did t-test. The results of the study as follows : First The learning materials applied exciting games for mathematics optional activities aroused interest in mathematics and made the learners have confidence in mathematics learning. Second, There was affirmative change in the interest and attitude to the mathematics learning with the application of the mathematics optional learning materials. Third The leaning materials of the mathematics optional activities made the learners think mathematical questions connected with the real life and try various ways to solve the questions. Here are some suggestions to study the development of the learning materials such as story, game, quiz and craft. First it is necessary to develop the learning materials applied the games or the real life matters connected with mathematics for all grade middle school students and use them in the mathematics optional activities. Second, many students feel a great interest in animation. moving picture, sound graphic, etc. If the multimedia learning materials included the real life matters or the games are developed, the learners will feel more interest in mathematics. Third, the systematic and economical support is continuously needed in order that teachers are given much time to study and the opportunity to attend the training course for the understanding of the optional activities and the development of the various learning materials.

  • Today, one of the most important reasons that 3D software becomes a core part of the essential tools in the video contents field like the movies, animation, CF, motion graphic, games and etc. is that they can save budget of contents makings and can produce better effects than conventional methods like miniature, matt painting, extra mobilization and etc. and can save time and have the merit that they are not limited in space. In this paper, I analyzed IK(Inverse kinematics) system characteristics for the efficient education of 3D character animation particularly most used of 3D applications which is now supposed to be nearly necessary elements in game, animation, movie and contents. And by analyzing merits and demerits of each tool on Bone, Character studio and Character Animation Toolkit, systems which are most used practically in the various Inverse kinematics tools, I showed the result of analyses about the fact that educating which of the above three Inverse Kinematics tools is helpful and beneficial for the students for the efficient education in the university where should teach much in the limited time

  • This study attempts to investigate the personalized schemes of interface for the interactive TV sonics enhancing the satisfaction of users from the standpoints of the user and to suggest designing guidelines. In the preface, firstly, the purpose as well as structure of the study were described, the characteristics of the interactive TV and the personalization were defined. Also, it was attempted to understand the development directions of the basic media for services. In addition, the data and elements that became the ground for this study were arranged, including the elements for designing interface, the appraisal method of usability to evaluate the requirements of users, etc. Then, the interfaces of "SkyTouch", an interactive TV sonics by Skylife having the number of users reaching one million at the moment, that is the representative runner in the interactive TV, were analyzed. Then the needs central to the navigation structure and layout for the convenience of users through the evaluation of usability were examined and arranged. In addition, the designing directions of personalized interfaces were studied in the interactive TV by analyzing the web portal sites which were being carried out prior to the personalized services. Based on the data investigated and analyzed previously, the guidelines for the interface design for the personalization of the interactive TV were suggested by classifying the navigation structure and layout, and the personalized interface design was proposed according to the suggested guidelines by applying them directly to "SkyTouch" that is currently carrying out the interactive sonics although it provides limited services in an independent style.

  • As the rapid extension of the game and film industry, studies on developing natural movements on a 3D characters are increasing. Rigging a character with joints is essential to create realistic movements on a 3D character. The rapid development of the CG industry, rigging technologies and workflow is becoming more sophisticated. Despite the progress and the growth of rigging operations, has shown the limitations of such repetitive tasks. For this study, analyzes the issues and inefficiency of the old method of skin weights and propose a better approach. First, need to understand the general process of an animation pipeline and learn the technology term of skin weights. Second, comparing the traditional ways of skinning a character and applying other deformers to work properly. Third, testing out new ways of weighting a character by applying deformers such as lattice and finally converting lattice weights back to skin weights. Forth, verifying effectiveness of the new method of skin weights by comparing with the traditional skin weighting process. The study shows that the new method of skin weights, reduced working hours and a better final weighting outcome. Expecting this study to enhance the method of skin weights and able to utilize this new skinning technology.

A Study of the Similarities between Comic Subtitles on Korean Television and Visual Codes in Comics (커뮤니케이션 메시지의 생산과 수용에 대한 매체기호학적 연구를 위한 제언 : 한국 텔레비전의 자막 사용이 갖는 특성을 중심으로)

  • In Korea, since the mid 1990s, the subtitles are largely employed on television programs especially on diverting programs like talk shows and game shows. The functions of these subtitles are different from those of the traditional subtitles. The traditional subtitles are used to give credits, explain an action, or represent dialogue, to be brief they are used to give informations. But the new type of subtitles are used to amuse the public. Not only the new subtitles represent words of the guests but also they present opinions or judgements of the program producer. They show also what to give attention to, what the guest feels and finally what to laugh at. These subtitles are very well received by the public. So they are employed more and more frequently by lots of programs. These subtitles will be ratted comic subtitles because their principal function Is to raise a laughter and to make fun. The purpose of this study is to attempt to find some particularities concerning the uses of the comic subtitles on Korean television. The study suggests that the comic subtitles call for the very known social codes because they should be understood clearly by the public. The forms and styles of the codes employed in the comic subtitles are very similar to those used in the comics. Some graphic codes especially developed in the comics are employed with success in the comic subtitles. The comic subtitles are aiming to amuse and provoke a laughter by written text and visual codes usually employed in the comics. But why does the program producer use the comic titles for make the public laugh? Laugh is not a emotional reaction but a act caused by the intellectual judgement. Written text and visual codes employed in the comic subtitles permit to judge the situation intellectually because they give to the public a moment for think about what they treat. They permit the public to see more clearly the situational relations which can provoke a laughter. The comic subtitles constitute now one of the main elements on Korean television. It means that the insertion of writing in the audiovisual media is popular in Korea. The study suggests that there is something in Korean culture which can favours this insertion : in Korea, writing has never been separated from painting. It seems that in Korea, there has been no clear separation between written culture and visual culture. But this point must be approached more carefully and needs profound researches.

  • Most golfers believe that knowing yardages will improve their score. Certainly it helps with club selection. But, simple "Graphic" yardage guides being notorious for error and inaccuracies, which a serious golfer will pick immediately, only serve to erode the players enjoyment and ultimately, golf course satisfaction. Someone believes with low-level aerial photographic images, golfer will be impressed with the accuracy of the depiction, helping them play a more confident game. But, there are no mapping products in true 3-D available in the world that allows a golfer to determine shot distances in yards or meters. So, we suggest an lenticular technology for real 3-D display as a viable alternative to conventional image map solution. This technology is an image display method for the generation of multi-image effects like 3D visualization or animation. This methodology is cutting edge stereoscopic image which overcomes the limitation of conventional photo tech by recomposing and producing 3 dimensional images. A significant strength of this methods its versatility concerning display effects. The main use of the hardcopy 3-D lenticular displays is in the fields of science, education, planning, and representation. This paper gives a concise overview of the lenticular foil technology and describes the production of the true 3-D yardage book of golf courses. For this study, 3-D effects are achieved and evaluated with the lenticular display by incorporation multiple synthetic images based on digital topographic terrain model and by using the two images of the actual stereopair.

  • Visual media transmits image and information reproduced in large quantities, such as a photography, film, television, video, advertisement, or computer image. Correspondence to the students' reception and recognition of culture in the future. arrangements for the field of studies of visual culture. 'Visual Culture' implies cultural phenomena of visual images via visual media, which includes not only the categories of traditional arts like a painting, sculpture, print, or design, but the performance arts including a fashion show or parade of carnival, and the mass and electronic media like a photography, film, television, video, advertisement, cartoon, animation, or computer image. In the world of visual media, Image' functions as an essential medium of communication. Therefore, people call the culture of today fra of Image Culture', which has been converted from an alphabet convergence era to an image convergence one. Image, via visual media, has become a dominant means for communication in large part of human life, so we can designate an Image' as a typical aspect of visual culture today. Image, as an essential medium of communication, plays an important role in contemporary society. The one way is the conversion of analogue image like an actual picture, photograph, or film into digital one through the digitalization of digital camera or scanner as 'an analogue/digital commutator'. The other is a way of process with a computer drawing, or modeling of objects. It is appropriate to the production of pictorial and surreal images. Digital images, produced by the other, can be divided into the form of Pixel' and form of Vector'. Vector is a line linking the point of departure to the point of end, which organizes informations. Computer stores each line's standard location and correlative locations to one another Digital image shows for more 'Perfectness' than any other visual media. Digital image has been evolving in the diverse aspects, such as a production of geometrical or organic image compositing, interactive art, multimedia art, or web art, which has been applied a computer as an extended trot of painting. Someone often interprets digitalized copy with endless reproduction of original even as an extension of a print. Visual af is no longer a simple activity of representation by a painter or sculptor, but now is intimately associated with a matter of application of media. There is some problem in images via visual media. First, the image via media doesn't reflect a reality as it is, but reflects an artificial manipulated world, that is, a virtual reality. Second, the introduction of digital effect and the development of image processing technology have enhanced a spectacle of destructive and violent scenes. Third, a child intends to recognize the interactive images of computer game and virtual reality as a reality, or truth. Education needs not only to point out an ill effect of mass media and prevent the younger generation from being damaged by it, but also to offer a knowledge and know-how to cope actively with social, cultural circumstances. Visual media education is one of these essential methods for the contemporary and future human being in the overflowing of image informations. The fosterage of 'Visual Literacy' can be considered as a very purpose of visual media education. This is a way to lead an individual to the discerning, active consumer and producer of visual media in life as far as possible. The elements of 'Visual Literacy' can be divided into a faculty of recognition related to the visual media, a faculty of critical reception, a faculty of appropriate application, a faculty of active work and a faculty of creative modeling, which are promoted at the same time by the education of 'visual literacy'. In conclusion, the education of 'Visual Literacy' guides students to comprehend and discriminate the visual image media carefully, or receive them critically, apply them properly, or produce them creatively and voluntarily. Moreover, it leads to an artistic activity by means of new media. This education can be approached and enhanced by the connection and integration with real life. Visual arts and education of them play an important role in the digital era depended on visual communications via image information. Visual me야a of day functions as an essential element both in daily life and in arts. Students can soundly understand visual phenomena of today by means of visual media, and apply it as an expression tool of life culture as well. A new recognition and valuation visual image and media education is required to cultivate the capability of active, upright dealing with the changes of history of civilization. 1) Visual media education helps to cultivate a sensibility for images, which reacts to and deals with the circumstances. 2) It helps students to comprehend the contemporary arts and culture via new media. 3) It supplies a chance of students' experiencing a visual modeling by means of new media. 4) There are educational opportunities of images with temporality and spaciality, and therefore a discerning person becomes to increase. 5) The modeling activity via new media leads students to be continuously interested in the school and production of plastic arts. 6) It raises the ability of visual communications dealing with image information society. 7) An education of digital image is significant in respect of cultivation of man of talent for the future society of image information as well. To correspond to the changing and developing social, cultural circumstances, and the form and recognition of students' reception of them, visual arts education must arrange the field of studying on a new visual culture. Besides, a program needs to be developed, which is in more systematic and active level in relation to visual media education. Educational contents should be extended to the media for visual images, that is, photography, film, television, video, computer graphic, animation, music video, computer game and multimedia. Every media must be separately approached, because they maintain the modes and peculiarities of their own according to the conveyance form of message. The concrete and systematic method of teaching and the quality of education must be researched and developed, centering around the development of a course of study. Teacher's foundational capability of teaching should be cultivated for the visual media education. In this case, it must be paid attention to the fact that a technological level of media is considered as a secondary. Because school education doesn't intend to train expert and skillful producers, but intends to lay stress on the essential aesthetic one with visual media under the social and cultural context, in respect of a consumer including a man of culture.
