A Greedy Merging Method for User-Steered Mesh Segmentation

  • In this paper, we discuss the mesh segmentation problem which divides a given 3D mesh into several disjoint sets. To solve the problem, we propose a greedy method based on the merging priority metric defined for representing the geometric properties of meaningful parts. The proposed priority metric is a weighted function using five geometric parameters, those are, a distribution of Gaussian map, boundary path concavity, boundary path length, cardinality, and segmentation resolution. In special, we can control by setting up the weight values of the proposed geometric parameters to obtain visually better mesh segmentation. Finally, we carry out an experiment on several 3D mesh models using the proposed methods and visualize the results.

  • Virtual Reality makes a virtual environment more realistic and, furthermore, it provides a variety of experiences which we cannot have in reality. A drastic growth of GPU performance and increase of computing capability make virtual environment more realistic than ever. One important element of constructing virtual environment is to animate 3D characters. Many researchers have been studying 3D characters animating and a myriad of methods have been proposed to make them more realistic. In this paper, we discuss the technologies and characteristics of 3D character animation. We believe that realistic characters in Virtual Reality will be applied to various fields: education, film and game industry, business and, particularly, medical area such as telemedicine, virtual surgery, etc.

  • 사용자의 적극적 참여를 유도하는 교육용 UCG(User Creative Game) 퀘스트(Quest) 제작 시스템은 게임 내 역할수행(Quest) 구성 권한을 사용자에게 부여하여 게임 내에서 사용자가 제작한 자유도 높은 임무를 제공한다. 이를 바탕으로 적극적인 사용자는 재미요소와 교육적 목표를 가진 퀘스트를 구성, 제작한다. 퀘스트 제작 시스템을 통하여 생산되는 퀘스트를 통하여 양질의 퀘스트 데이터는 축척 된다. 이로 인하여 게임의 수명은 연장되고 게임 내 교육적 기능성 부여는 게임 개발자가 아니라 교육 전문가인 적극적 사용자를 통하여 이루어진다.

  • As rapid development of new hardware control interface technology, new concepts have been being proposed and emerged. In this paper, a new approach based on leap motion system is proposed. While we employ a position information from sensor, the hand gesture recognition is suggested with the pre-defined patterns. To do this, we design a recognition algorithm with hand gesture and finger patterns. We apply the proposed scheme to 3-dimensional avatar controling and editing software tool for making animation in the cyber space as a representative application. This proposed algorithm can be used to control computer systems in medical treatment, game, education and other various areas.

  • In this paper, I propose and prove the evaluation standard for educational web contents. I divide the evaluation standards into five types -drill and practice, tutorial, simulation, educational game, presentation. It is proved the propriety of evaluation standards by experts. The evaluation standards presented in this paper can hep teachers to choose and to develop the educational web contents. Therefore it will contribute to decreasing a burden to prepare instruction used ICT for teachers and increasing the effect of Information-Oriented Education.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate its characteristics of the spatial compositions at several kindergartens in Daegu area. Through this, the study is intended to provide the basic data of the efficient building planning and facility operations in the kindergarten. The results of this study are as follows. 1) Recently, the spatial compositions of kindergarten was classified as education, educational aids, educational support, teacher / administration, and public service area. 2) The concept of special classroom space was set up in all the surveyed facilities. This space was used for small-scale events, meals, and game features. 3) Support staff, including teachers, are insufficient for the service space. 4) The size of total land area of the facility's public service area was affecting. 5) The Lobby and aisle space of the surveyed facilities was used as a multipurpose space. 6) In response to diverse educational content, the direction to plan should be seperated by multi-space.

  • 본 연구에서는 어린이들이 따분하고 어렵게 느낄 수 있는 재활용 교육 방식을 지양하고, 재활용품의 수집 및 분류 그리고 재활용 공정을 자연스럽게 체험할 수 있도록 하기 위해 어린이들의 흥미를 유발시키고 과학적인 호기심을 충족시키는 방식으로 3DMax와 DirectX를 이용하여 3차원 재활용 레이싱 게임을 개발한다. 결과적으로, 재활용 관련 전시관에서 어린이들이 직접 사용해 볼 수 있는 자료로 활용되거나 교육기관 및 관련 관공서에서 홍보 및 교육용 매체로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • 본 논문에서는 Unity게임엔진을 이용하여 만든 유아용 코딩게임의 사례와 결과물을 보인다. 대학에서 초, 중학교로 낮아져 가는 소프트웨어 교육의 연령대의 흐름에 맞춰 유아용 게임을 제작했다. 아이들에게 친근한 자동차게임의 모양으로 문제를 논리적으로 푸는 방법을 찾는 컴퓨팅적 사고를 하게끔 도와 스스로 문제를 해결하게 하고, 성취감을 얻게 해준다. 또 문제에 대한 정해진 답이 없고 자신만의 의견을 낼 수 있기 때문에 호기심과, 창의력의 증폭을 기대할 수 있다. 기본적으로 맵을 이용해 스토리 진행이 이루어지는 코딩게임의 알고리즘을 사용했으며, Unity2D 엔진을 이용해 유아용 블록코딩게임과 키보드게임을 제작했다. 자동차 모양의 객체를 목적지에 도달하게 할 방법을 아이들 스스로 생각하는 컴퓨팅적 사고를 돕는다.

On Optimal Conditions in Setting Up Tasks for the Elementary Classroom: A Case Study of Two Classes

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the optimal conditions for designing tasks appropriate to the elementary classroom based on the correspondence with the national curriculum, integration among four skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), authenticity, and interactivity. For this study, two primary English teachers volunteered to participate in the case study conducted in the spring semester of the 2012 school year. Each class observed was composed of 29 and 30 sixth graders (12-year-old learners). Data were collected through classroom observation and lesson plans. Optimality theory was used to analyze data from the lessons. From the findings, the overall ranking of constraints is Curriculum ${\gg}$ Integration ${\gg}$ Authenticity ${\gg}$ Interactivity. It is also shown that for teacher 'L', the tasks such as 'guessing game', 'photo of me', and 'role play' were appropriate to help students ask questions and give reasons for their choices. As for teacher 'C', the tasks such as 'hand spans', 'transport survey', and 'picture telling' needed to be considered in order to help students understand and write comparative sentences.

  • 정부에서는 이러한 문제점을 해소하고자 정보통신부와 문화관광부를 중심으로 게임산업 진흥 중장기 계획(2003-2007)을 세우면서 게임 전문 인력 양성에 대한 대규모 지원 사업을 준비하고 실행을 서두르고 있다. 따라서 이 글에서는 게임 개발인력을 양성하기 위해 준비하거나 실행하고 있는 학계나 전문 교육 기관들에게 교과 과정 측면에서 도움을 주기 위해 여러 통계 자료 등을 통하여 고급 게임 개발자를 양성하여 실력 있는 게임 개발 그룹에 참여하도록 하고 산업현장에서 즉시 투입되어 활용될 수 있는 인재상을 만들기 위함이 본 논문의 목적이다.
