This study aims to evaluate smartphone gaming controllers. Diffusion of smartphone makes its users to play smartphone games in ease and comfort and its built-in sensors deliver new gaming experience to the users. Based on the concept how the controller system is important, the current research also implies the importance of customizing service which gives users a selection to deploy a controller. To explore the interaction effect of controllers and customizing on interactivity, flow, usability, attitude, and intention, the research constructs 3(gyroscope, wheel, and button controllers) by 2(default and customizing setting) experimental design and forty college students played Gameloft's Asphalt 8: Airborne in a within subject design. The results showed that interaction effect and customizing main effect were not found, but controller main effect was statistically significant. Button controller is superior to those other two in more detail. It implies that it is still not useful to play new types of gaming controller, and a customizing service. It suggests that smartphone games should more focus on improving optimal user experience with built-in sensor controllers.
The Grand-Touring is a game motion simulator that simulates the race-car driving motion with three hydraulic cylinders which connect the platform and base in parallel. Its motion control system consists of the PC-based main controller and micro-controller based sub-controller. The former one process the dynamic image of race-car in response to the driver's action and computes the reference command for each cylinder and the latter one is designed for the tracking control of hydraulic cylinder and interfacing the auxiliary signals between various sensors/actuator and main controller. In this research, we developed the sub-controller that implements the required functions of Grand-Touring and prove the overall performance with experiments.

This study presents an approach for designing a vehicle rollover prevention controller using differential game theory and multi-level programming. The rollover prevention problem can be modeled as a non-cooperative zero-sum two-player differential game. A controller as an equilibrium solution of the differential game guarantees the worst-case performance against every possible steering input. To obtain an equilibrium solution to the differential game with a small amount of computational effort, a multi-level programming approach with a relaxation procedure is used. To cope with the loss of maneuverability caused by the active suspension, an electronic stability program (ESP) is adopted. Through simulations, the proposed method is shown to be effective in obtaining an equilibrium solution of the differential game.

In this paper, VR game was produced to inform the danger of using smartphone while walking and to raise awareness. In this VR games, you can experience Smombie (smart phone and zombie compound word) like a real situation by using Google card board and Bluetooth controller. Designed as a directions game of everyday material, the user indirectly experiences the dangerous situations that may actually occur in everyday life. In the virtual space, you can see the map on the smartphone, navigate the route, and send text messages using the controller during the game. We will explain how to implement smartphone map and send text message using controller which are the main functions of VR game.
User interface/experience and realistic game manipulation play an important role in virtual reality first-person-shooting game. This paper presents an intuitive hands-free interface of gaming interaction scheme for FPS based on user's gesture recognition and VR controller. We focus on conventional interface of VR FPS interaction, and design the player interaction wearing head mounted display with two motion controllers; leap motion to handle low-level physics interaction and VIVE tracker to control movement of the player joints in the VR world. The FPS prototype system shows that the design interface helps to enjoy playing immersive FPS and gives players a new gaming experience.
As more and more advanced technology implemented in Computer Game, various of technical skill must be applied to satisfy the demand of the users specifically in the immersion and convenience of the games. As a result, The number of interactive games, which are controlled by user's physical action so that make the games more immersible, are increasing. In Addition, as the amount of information that happens in the games increases, many studies are going on to provide efficient user-interface. In this study, we develop an interactive game using a controller designed by us, which consist of Wii controller and an attached secondary display that provides game information to user. In addition, we conduct a survey with questions about immersion and convenience of the game to understand how users feel when doing the suggested game, and to compare our game environment with general FPS game environment that uses mouse and keyboard.

A finger-gesture game controller using the single camera is implemented in this paper, which is based on the recognition of the number of fingers and the index finger moving direction. Proposed method uses the CAMShift algorithm to trace the end-point of index finger effectively. The number of finger is recognized by using a double circle tracing method. Then, HSI color mode transformation is performed for the CAMShift algorithm, and YCbCr color model is used in the double circle tracing method. Also, all processing tasks are implemented by using the Intel OpenCV library and C++ language. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we developed a shooting game simulator and validated the proposed method. The proposed method showed the average recognition ratio of more than 90% for each of the game command-mode.

This paper presents the development of a racing game by controlling multiple smartphones based on ad hoc communication. The proposed racing game by the smartphone-based control interface does not require any specific game console or remote controller. Thus, any multiple users who have smartphones are able to play the game in a monitor at the same time. In addition, the developed game is applicable to actual mobile robots in cases where the positions of all robots are measured, since its game unit is a mobile robot model with a differential drive. An experimental result shows that the racing game in a PC can be realized by the proposed communication interface through four iPhones based on acceleration sensors.

A rule based controller is constructed for multiple robots accomplishing a given task in unknown environments by using genetic programming. The example task is playing a simplified soccer game, and the controller for robots that governs emergent cooperative behavior is successfully found using the proposed procedure A neural network controller constructed using the rule based controller is shown to be applicable in a more complex environment.
