Today, modern society pursues the paradigm of creative city and regeneration. Cultural regeneration of revitalizing locality by utilizing culture catches attention, is a major approach. Public arts is considered as a catalyst of cultural regeneration, and it inspires vitality to declined districts. Gamcheon Culture Village, Busan has accelerated propagation of revitalization only in recent couple of years, and it has been developing with residents' participation continuously. The purpose of this research is to analyse the revitalizing effects of public arts introduction to Gamcheon Culture Village regeneration. In specific, social, cultural, economical, physical and environmental revitalization effects of the village were defined. The research method is questionnaire survey and 320 reponses from residents and visitors were collected. Data were statistically analyzed with SPSS18.0. The effects of public arts introduction to Gamcheon Culture Village regeneration are positive overall. However, according to the districts of the village, having diversity of art projects in both quantity and quality, the perceptions were different. Regeneration with utilizing public arts for revitalizing declined district, the Gamcheon case shed light on the future. The research indicated the value of public arts and some strategies of allocating art projects.

In the late 20th century, Korea has accelerated urban sprawl and demolition based redevelopment without considering local characteristics. As a result, quantitative supplement of housing has been saturated and has pushed revitalization especially. The purpose of this research is to delineate the local asset based regeneration of Gamcheon Culture Village Busan. The research methods are field visit, site observation, in-depth interview, library and internet research, data were collected and analyzed with the contents analysis techniques. As results, elements of hardware, software and humanware resources and the dynamics of the whole process such as how the resources connected and utilized, and how the external resources have been converged into these to regenerate Gamcheon Culture Village in diverse dimensions, such as cultural, social, economical and physical one were analysed. This research is expected to share the wisdom of revitalizing with collaborations. Through enhancing negative resources of decayed area to positive ones, the case produced the synergy.

많은 지역에서 구도심 개발이 지역정체성을 훼손하고 거주민의 소외라는 부작용에 직면하고 있는 가운데 가장 모범적인 도심개발사례 중 하나로 손꼽히는 부산 감천문화마을을 통해 지역의 문화와 역사가 어우러진 대표적인 명소로 자리 잡게 된 과정을 소개한다. 지역개발은 다양한 측면의 가치 창출을 동반하는 종합적인 기능과 더불어 관광수익의 창출이라는 경제적 가치를 추구한다. 감천문화마을은 구도심과 신도심간 양극화를 해소하고 지역이미지를 제고하는 차원에서 의미있는 도심재생사례가 될 것이다.

The study aims to figure out the problems of Daldongnae (hillside shantytown) in Jaman-dong, Jeonju, and to propose the countermeasures for village regeneration. Based on the survey of current conditions in the area and the case study of successful regeneration projects, this study suggests regenerating concepts for the community. The study on the current state analyzes that Jaman-dong is faced with the population decline, especially among the young, the lack of community facilities and infrastructure, and the unfavorable situation in the residential environment. The case study involves three successful Daldongnae regeneration projects: the culture-based regeneration of Cultural Village (in Gamcheon-dong, Busan), the regeneration focused on healthcare and education of Ibagugil (in Choryang-dong, Busan), and the community-led regeneration of Rainbow Village (in Dae-dong, Daejeon). The regenerating concepts for the community are as follows: utilizing the existing local community center as a gathering place for the residents, furnishing a cultural space for a growing number of visitors, adding new parking space, installing convenient facilities in order to provide better pedestrian environment for the disabled and elderly, improving street landscapes, and establishing citizen participation programs.

본 연구의 목적은 선행연구를 통해 도출한 성공적인 도시재생을 위한 성공유발요인들 중 핵심적인 성공유발요인을 찾아내고 이들 요인들의 재방문의도에 대한 관련성 정도를 파악하는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 성공유발요인 변수(외부환경요인, 내부환경요인, 내부문화요인)와 방문객의 만족정도 및 재방문의도 정도를 포함한 설문을 작성하여 감천문화마을을 방문한 관람객과 방문 경험자를 대상으로 설문조사를 통해 자료를 수집하고, 이 자료를 이용하여 탐색적 요인분석과 구조방정식모형을 이용한 확인적 요인분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 내부환경요인과 내부문화요인은 만족정도에 양의 영향을 미치고 만족정도는 다시 재방문의도에 양의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 성공적인 도시재생을 위한 재방문의도를 높이기 위해서는 내부환경요인과 내부문화요인 그리고 이를 통한 방문객의 만족도를 높여야함을 알 수 있다. 본 연구는 도시재생이 그 지역의 고유한 자원특성에 맞게 이루어져야 한다는 점을 잘 제시하고 있다. 향후 연구에서는 표본의 전국화를 통해 이론의 일반화를 꾀하고자 한다.
