  • In this paper, we modelized the multipath fading to Nakagami-m distribution fading channel which can be applied to the extended mobile communication channel environment. We assumed that the phase difference with reference signal happened in the received signal and in the receiver PLL(Phase Locked Loop) is the phase error. To correct the error we propose new RAKE receiver using PLL. In addition, we analyze the performance of DS/SS(Direct Sequence/spread Spectrum) system according to the gain of PLL,$\gamma_n$, the number of RAKE receiver branch L and MIP(Multipath Intensity Profile)'s exponential decay $\delta$. As a result, when the proposed RAKE receiver L Is increased and the $\delta$ is decreased the performance of the system gets better. Futhermore when PLL gain was 30dB, phase is identified. That is when the PLL gain is 30dB, the performance equals with the perfect coherent system's. Therefore, we can correct the phase error by using the proposed RAKE receiver and we proved that the PLL's requested limit gain should be 30dB.

  • This paper evaluates the performance of two methods of spectrum sensing: the linear combining method and the selection combining method which is based on maximum SNR of sensing channel. We proposed a rule for global detection for the purpose of combating hidden terminal problems in spectrum sensing. Our analysis considers a situation when sensing channels experience the non-identically, independently distributed(n.i.d) Rayleigh fading. The average probabilities of global detection in these methods are derived and compared. In the scope of this paper, the reporting channels are assumed to be the AWGN channel with invariant and identical gain during the system's operation.

  • In this paper, we study an optimization which determines the optimal sensing time and the number of cooperative sensing cognitive users for cooperative spectrum sensing scheme in cognitive radio networks. In cooperative spectrum sensing, cognitive users originally in inactive status are activated and take part in spectrum sensing along with transmitting cognitive users resulting in a reduced sensing time. Tradeoff between transmission rate gain and energy consumption due to cooperative sensing is formulated as a mixed integer programming problem which is solved for the optimal values.

  • Cognitive Radio (CR) technology is proposed for using the unused spectrum band efficiently because of the spectrum scarcity problems. Spectrum sensing is one of the most challenging issues in cognitive radio system. In this paper, we focus on the signal detection of WiBro system band. As most of the modulated signals can be treated as cyclostationary random process, we can detect the signal of the OFDM signals in WiBro system. OFDM symbols using WiBro system have several pilot subcarriers and periodic pilots have cyclostationary characteristic. To improve the detection performance, we get diversity gain using multiple antennas.

  • In this paper, some problems that occur from faulty elements in a direction finding system composed of the linear array are studied and the method which improves the performance is proposed. The faulty element means the sensor that has no output or highly reduced gain than other normal sensors. In the presence method, the ocrrecting vector is calculated by maximizing the spatial spectrum subject to a constraint. The compensated spatial spectrum is obtained by this vector. The computer simulations have been performance to study the performance of the proposed method.

  • The degradation due to channel distortion in a quadrature modulation system from the ideal constant values over the bandwidth of a direct sequence spread spectrum signal are considered. Through using series expansion for the channel gain and phase response, the degradation in the correlator output at the receiver is found as a function of the parameters involved , including phase error, delay error, linear gin variation, quadratic gain variation, and quadratic phase variation.

  • An asymmetrical directional coupler with two nonidentical fibers has, for the first time, been proposed and analyzed for an EDFA gain flattening filter (GFF). The characteristics of the transmission spectra of the GFFs have been theoretically investigated for the core spacings, the coupling lengths and the fiber parameters of the asymmetrical directional coupler. The analytical results show that an EDFA gain spectrum with flatness of ~7 ㏈ can be flattened to within $\pm$0.75 ㏈ over a bandwidth of 30 nm by using the asymmetrical directional coupler-based GFF.

  • This paper investigates the spectrum hole utilization of cooperative schemes for the two-way relaying model in order to improve the utilization efficiency of limited spectrum holes in cognitive radio networks with imperfect spectrum sensing. We propose two specific bidirectional secondary data transmission (BSDT) schemes with two-step and three-step two-way relaying models, i.e., two-BSDT and three-BSDT schemes, where the spectrum sensing and the secondary data transmission are jointly designed. In the proposed cooperative schemes, the best two-way relay channel between two secondary users is selected from a group of secondary users serving as cognitive relays and assists the bi-directional communication between the two secondary users without a direct link. The closed-form asymptotic expressions for outage probabilities of the two schemes are derived with a primary user protection constraint over Rayleigh fading channels. Based on the derived outage probabilities, the spectrum hole utilization is calculated to evaluate the percentage of spectrum holes used by the two secondary users for their successful information exchange without channel outage. Numerical results show that the spectrum hole utilization depends on the spectrum sensing overhead and the channel gain from a primary user to secondary users. Additionally, we compare the spectrum hole utilization of the two schemes as the varying of secondary signal to noise ratio, the number of cognitive relays, and symmetric and asymmetric channels.

  • The effect of gain dispersion on the self-pulsation (SP) characteristics due to the mode beating of two modes emitted in a multisection DFB laser composed of two complex-coupled DFB sections and a phase control section is investigated. When the peak wavelength, ${\lambda}_{p}$, of the gain spectrum of the DFB section is positioned in the center of the lasing wavelengths or the Bragg wavelengths of the two DFB sections, the maximum SP frequencies are higher and the modulation index has better characteristics compared to those cases for ${\lambda}_{p}$ fixed at the lasing wavelength or Bragg wavelength of one DFB section, when the difference between the Bragg wavelengths of the two DFB sections, ${\Dalta}{\lambda}_{B}$, is varied. When ${\lambda}_{p}$ is positioned in the renter of the Bragg wavelengths of the two DFB sections, the maximum SP frequency is higher and of the modulation index has better characteristics compared to those of the case for ${\lambda}_{p}$ positioned in the center of the lasing wavelengths of the two DFB sections.
