  • The management of wastes within the urban landscape has become a critical concern to both local governments and inhabitants. With landfill capacities steadily decreasing, rapid growth of economy, population and urbanization, citizen awareness of the environment and public health problems occured by existing landfill sites make difficulties in selecting the landfill site. Therefore, this study has been performed to select the optimum waste landfill site using GSIS methodology to reduce the time, cost and effort. As the result of this study, we can investigate many factors synthetically which could not be handled by the former method using hands in the site selection for waste landfill, and we can carry out economically the work of selecting suitable site throughout the vast area.

  • New Address System have been defined by section belonging to a road To manage this New Address System the relationship between road and section must have consistency and convenience. So, It have to be designed not only logical relation but physical relation for The relationship between road and section. To make New Address Management System considered the relationship, It must be design database considered the relationship. In this study, therefore would like to present the database design considered the relationship between road and section. And then using GSIS system, New Address Management System have been developed.

  • The soil loss by rainfalls or runoffs has been one of the main environment problems in 20th century. The soil loss cause the various problems those are decreasing of the agricultural productivity, desolating of pasture land and disturbing of water flowing. Therefore, it is very important to measure properly various factors those are affecting to soil loss and to recognize a seriousness of soil loss problem. In this study, we use the USLE(Universal Soil Loss Equation) as a basic approaching way for soil loss analysis in a watershed, and the GSIS(Geo-Spatial Information System) technique is applied to evaluate for factors those are related to the USLE. The results of this study are consisted of three parts those are to build up the various topographical information that is needed for analysis of wide area soil loss by using the USLE, to evaluate the factors those are needed to the USLE, to estimate the soil loss condition of subbasin in the watershed.

  • This study deals with a auto-extraction of land characteristics using a GSIS. Major algorithm and a evaluation program was developed to automate the entire Process of land characteristics survey Through the automatic extraction of land information. To establish such a process, a method was provided to automatically extract detailed land information such as the shape, height, direction, road contact conditions, which could not be available in previous studies. The results showed that the adoption of such a automated process could lead the whole works related to the official land-value evaluation and securing residential complex to be more efficient and cost-saving in a scientific way comparing with existing process.

  • Information on forest type and cover density status of the present and past on large scale (1:50,000) is very much needed for conservation of any forest region. Such large-scale maps are not available for the Eastern Ghats (EG) of Tamil Nadu. This study deals with the preparation of forest type and cover density map of EG of Tamil Nadu during 2003 and the changes it has undergone between 1990 and 2003 using appropriate satellite data. About 10 forest types have been identified and mapped. Major changes have been observed in the forest types such as evergreen, and deciduous.

  • To support the second step of Land Information System building, we are studied about the way of image(included map, document) input, computerization way of cadastral map and the program development which can efficiently carry out the application and update of the constructed digital data. The final object of this study is in raising the efficiency of the cadastral-map computerization, building an accurate DB and its speedy, efficient application. Because the program which was developed in this study is designed to fit the Cadastral Affair Computerization, the integration of the each division's affaires is possible. Because of it, we can raise the specialization of the works and we can reduce time and cost to build Data Share System and cadastral digital data.

  • Geo-Spatial Information Systems(GSIS) are being used in various urban municipalities as a tool in decision making. Efforts are being made to implement geo-spatial information system databases to systematically and effectively carry out planning, management and monitoring in various fields. This study is about the database establishment of geo-spatial information systems. The study was then applied to water supply facilities management, where the functions and data used in water management were identified through system analysis and the geo-spatial database was designed based on this analysis. Also four application programs were developed to support departments which used various maps and drawings.

  • Recently, the volume of transportatin is higher by increasing rapid development and human or material interchange among districts. So, the importance of maintenance and management on existing road is come to the fore. In this study, we'd like to build prototypic Road Information Management System to keep road scientifically and efficiently on general road. We built the database of information about a drawing and register on ex-siting road using GSIS. So, we can offer information rapidly and accurately in road maintenance and management service through the query, update and statistic analysis function on road facility as well as AM.

  • MDD(Mountainous District Development) has more available area than flatland come into solution for many urban problem arisen from the insufficiency of urban-purpose land and space. When develope the mountainous district, the development must be a development considered the viewscape. To efficiently accomplish the MDD viewscape was considered, firstly we have to know which viewscape element effect on many observers when they rate the viewscpe preference. As a basical study for MDD viewscape was considered, we used GSIS and ANN(Artificial Neural Network) in cause analysis of viewscape preference. Many observers firstly influenced by“height difference”that represent the difference between elevation of a mountainous and buildings, and secondly floor-area-ratio has influence on viewscape preference, thirdly many observer affected by building coverage among many viewscape elecments considered in this study.

  • The application of GSIS for most route determination is provided by selecting several basic data such as land use, land construction quantity and land price, and then establishing a database to analyze for the route determination. However, this strategy rarely considers the complicated multi-factors that are essential for route determination. To solve this problem, it is required to use the GSIS and attempt to support the decision of majority for optimum route determination and standardize the route determination procedure. Accordingly, in this study, the qualification of multi-factors was attempted using the AHP technique, and so the data for the route determination was provided effectively, which resulted in the optimum route determination. As a result of applying the AHP technique, optimum routes were selected more rationally than randomly applying the values of multi-factors as before.
