  • Hydrologic parameters vary spatially and require interpretation of maps which often vary in scale and accuracy. Data requirements can be extensive, and acquisition and manipulation of the data are time-consuming. The purpose of this study is to develop Hydrologic Terrain Factor Extract System (HTFES) using Geo-Spatial Information System(GSIS). The HTFES is a package of spatial data and menu-driven programs that allows user-interactive determination of hydrologic parameters. The program employs Arc/Info, a commercial Geo-Spatial Information System. Spatial analysis techniques were employed to define watershed outlets and to determine important hydrologic parameters. The system delineates drainage boundaries, flow paths, average watershed slope and etc. using relevant digital elevation data.

  • The conventional method for solving transportation problems were mainly based on numerical methods, where the understanding of outputs is not easy. Some difficulties come from the seperation of three key steps-the preparation of input for transportation traffic simulation, and model output interpretation. GSIS can help to eliminate some of thoses difficulties by combining graphics, database, and transportation plaining models. As pilot study, this study shows an application of Geovision GSIS to TRANPLAN transportation planning model that is based on four-step travel demand forecasting procedure. Accrued benefits and procedure are presented.

  • Soil loss by the rains has effect on natural environment. But It is difficult to find out the data that is surveyed in watershed. In this paper, we choose USLE erosion model, which could be connected easily with GSIS and available generally, and extracted factors which is entered model by using GSIS spatial analysis method. Especially, As revised USLE model, It should be applied in watershed and as it calculated soil loss before Idlest fire and behind, it analysed the degree that it have an effect on soil loss. As each analyzed factors and the result of soil loss estimate consist of 22m-pixel size, we could identify soil loss by each pixel and distribution pattern.

  • We propose a Quantum Authentication and Key distribution protocol based on one-time n using one-way Hash function. The designated users can authenticate each other and the arbitrator using their one-time ID and distribute a quantum secret key using remained GHZ states after authentication procedure. Though the help of the arbitrator is needed in the process of authentication and key distribution, our protocol prevents the arbitrator from finding out the shared secret key even if the arbitrator becomes an active attacker. Unconditional security can be proved in our protocol as the other QKD protocols.

  • The alarming climate change impacts are demanding the use of renewable energy sources like never before. Hydropower is one of the most cost-effective and environmental friendly energy technology recognized in the world. Big hydropower projects come up with the requirements of huge investment costs along with environmental impacts, whereas small hydropower(SHP) are considered a best solution for the economical source of energy. SHP, basically Run-of-River (RoR) type plants can be sustainable renewable energy sources and given the nature of perennial rivers flowing from steep gradient and rugged topography, feasibility of such plants is equally high in Nepal. The objective of this study is to determine the primary potential sites for the development of RoR type SHP sites using Geo-spatial Information System(GSIS). The use of GSIS enables precise survey of large area within a short period of time. This study has focused on the determination of locations by establishing defined criterions and methodologies and hence have located multiple locations rather than selecting one best location. The approach is applicable for the rapid initial screening of potential locations and results can facilitate detail feasibility study for the technical and economic analysis of SHP in the basin.

  • RSA cryptosystem is of great use in systems such as IC card, mobile system, WPKI, electronic cash, SET, SSL and so on. RSA is performed through modular exponentiation. It is well known that the Montgomery multiplier is efficient in general. The critical path delay of the Montgomery multiplier depends on an addition of three operands, the problem that is taken over carry-propagation makes big influence at an efficiency of Montgomery Multiplier. Recently, the use of the Carry Save Adder(CSA) which has no carry propagation has worked McIvor et al. proposed a couple of Montgomery multiplication for an ideal exponentiation, the one and the other are made of 3 steps and 2 steps of CSA respectively. The latter one is more efficient than the first one in terms of the time complexity. In this paper, for faster operation than the latter one we use binary signed-digit(SD) number system which has no carry-propagation. We propose a new redundant binary adder(RBA) that performs the addition between two binary SD numbers and apply to Montgomery multiplier. Instead of the binary SD addition rule using in existing RBAs, we propose a new addition rule. And, we construct and simulate to the proposed adder using gates provided from SAMSUNG STD130 $0.18{\mu}m$ 1.8V CMOS Standard Cell Library. The result is faster by a minimum 12.46% in terms of the time complexity than McIvor's 2 method and existing RBAs.
