Miller-Fisher syndrome, Guillain-Barre syndrome with ophthalmoplegia, Bickerstaff s brainstem encephalitis and acute ophthalmoplegia share some clinical features, and common anti-GQ1b IgG antibody and these are introduced as anti-GQ1b antibody syndrome. These syndromes mostly present with paralysis of extraocular muscles and internal ophthalmoplegia rarely occurs. We report a case of acute isolated bilateral internal ophthalmoplegia associated with anti-GQ1b IgG antibody.

The purpose of this note is to improve several known results on GQ-injective rings. We investigate in this paper the von Neumann regularity of left GQ-injective rings. We give an answer a question of Ming in the positive. Actually it is proved that if R is a left GQ-injective ring whose simple singular left R-modules are GP-injective then R is a von Neumann regular ring.

Adenosine (Ado) is an important mediator of the endogenous defense against ischemia-induced injury in the heart. The action of Ado is mediated by activation of G protein-gated inwardly rectifying $K^+$ (GIRK) channels. In turn, GIRK channels are inhibited by reducing phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate ($PIP_2$) through Gq protein-coupled receptors (GqPCRs). We previously found that GIRK channels activated by acetylcholine, a muscarinic M2 acetylcholine receptor agonist, are inhibited by GqPCRs in a receptor-specific manner. However, it is not known whether GIRK channels activated by Ado signaling are also regulated by GqPCRs. Presently, this was investigated in mouse atrial myocytes using the patch clamp technique. GIRK channels were activated by $100\;{\mu}M$ Ado. When Ado was repetitively applied at intervals of 5~6 min, the amplitude of second Ado-activated GIRK currents ($I_{K(Ado)}$) was $88.3{\pm}3.7%$ of the first $I_{K(Ado)}$ in the control. Pretreatment of atrial myocytes with phenylephrine, endothelin-1, or bradykinin prior to a second application of Ado reduced the amplitude of the second $I_{K(Ado)}$ to $25.5{\pm}11.6%$, $30.5{\pm}5.6%$, and $96.0{\pm}2.7%$, respectively. The potency of $I_{K(Ado)}$ inhibition by GqPCRs was different with that observed in acetylcholine-activated GIRK currents ($I_{K(ACh)}$) (endothelin-1>phenylephrine>bradykinin). $I_{K(Ado)}$ was almost completely inhibited by $500\;{\mu}M$ of the $PIP_2$ scavenger neomycin, suggesting low $PIP_2$ affinity of $I_{K(Ado)}$. Taken together, these results suggest that the crosstalk between GqPCRs and the Ado-induced signaling pathway is receptor-specific. The differential change in $PIP_2$ affinity of GIRK channels activated by Ado and ACh may underlie, at least in part, their differential responses to GqPCR agonists.

Gangliosides play an important role in neuronal differentiation processes. The regulation of ganglioside levels is related to the induction of neuronal cell differentiation. In this study, the ST8Sia5 gene was transfected into mESCs and then differentiated into neuronal cells. Interestingly, ST8Sia5 gene transfected mESCs expressed GQ1b by HPTLC and immunofluorescence analysis. To investigate the effects of GQ1b over-expression in neurogenesis, neuronal cells were differentiated from GQ1b expressing mESCs in the presence of retinoic acid. In GQ1b expressing mESCs, increased EBs formation was observed. After 4 days, EBs were co-localized with GQ1b and nestin, and GFAP. Moreover, GQ1b co-localized with MAP-2 expressing cells in GQ1b expressing mESCs in 7-day-old EBs. Furthermore, GQ1b expressing mESCs increased the ERK1/2 MAP kinase pathway. These results suggest that the ST8Sia5 gene increases ganglioside GQ1b and improves neuronal differentiation via the ERK1/2 MAP kinase pathway.

디지털 이동통신용 변조방식으로 $GQ^2PSK$(Gaussian-filtered Quadrature Phase Shift Keying)을 제안하였다. $GQ^2PSK$ 변조방식은 디지털 데이터를 가우시안 필터로 대역을 제안하고, 위상이 쌍방향 직교인 두개의 데이터 성형 펄스와 두개의 반송파가 각기 직교가 되는 $Q^2PSK$ 방식으로 대역이 제한된 디지털 신호를 변조하는 것이다. 그 결과 기존의 GMSK, QPSK나 OQPSK 변조방식에 비해 신호공간을 더욱 효율적으로 사용하고, 전송 속도도 개선시킬 수 있다. 디지털 이동통신에 적합하도록 가우시안 필터로 대역이 $GQ^2PSK$ 변조방식의 위상오차에 대한 비트 오율성능은 신호대 잡음비가 O[dB]인 경우 $Q^2PSK$ 방식에 비해 1.4[dB] 정도 열화되지만, 전력효율 면에서 GMSK 방식과 등가이며, 전송효율이 1.5배로 개선됨을 시물레이션을 통하여 확인하였다.

Convergence analysis on Godard's quartic(GQ) algorithm used for blind equalization is accomplished in this paper. First, we explain the local behavior of the GQ algoithm around the global minimum point of the average performance function. Then we consider the geometry of the average performance function. The main result is that a good initial parameter vector of the GQ algorithm can be chosen based on the information of the geometry of the average performance function.

패션잡지에 실린 패션 및 뷰티 관련 상품의 광고들은 현시대의 미의 이상을 제시하고, 상품소비를 통해 이를 성취할 수 있음을 제안함으로써 신체와 관련한 미적 상징성을 보여준다. 본 연구의 목적은 신체수정을 위한 상품의 특성과 상징적 의미를 확인하는 데 있으며, 이를 위해 여성잡지 Vogue와 남성잡지 GQ 광고 중 화장품과 바디케어 용품 광고를 선정하여, 이를 신체의 특성, 즉 색상, 볼륨과 비율, 형태와 구조, 텍스쳐, 향의 측면에서 구분하여 조사하였다. 그 결과, Vogue와 GQ 모두 다양한 종류의 신체수정을 위한 상품광고를 선보이고 있었으며, 상대적으로 Vogue가 GQ보다 더 많은 양과 종류의 상품 광고를 보이고 있었다. 신체의 특성에 따른 상품의 비중을 보면, Vogue는 신체의 색상과 관련한 시각적인 면이 높게 나타났고. 반면, GQ는 신체의 골격과 형태미, 볼륨과 비율, 그리고 향과 같은 덜 시각적인 면에서의 상품비중이 높았으며, 텍스쳐와 관련한 상품은 비슷한 비율로 나타났다. 이들 상품광고의 텍스트와 이미지에서 보이는 특성은 다기능성. 자연성, 개별성으로 구분할 수 있으며, 세계적 미의 추구, 젊음과 건강 이데올로기, 젠더 무경계화라는 상징적 의미를 내포하고 있다.

이 논문에서는 눈 먼 균등화에 쓰이는 4차 고다드 알고리즘의 수렴에 대하여 살펴보았다. 평균 성능 함수가 가장 작은 값을 갖는 점 부근에서의 4차 고다드 알고리즘의 국소적 성질을 이해함으로써 적응이득을 결정하였다. 4차 고다드 알고리즘의 정규화된 적응이득과 수렴속도는 결정 지향 알고리즘과 견주어 볼 때 적응이득은 작아야 한다는 것과 수렴속도는 빠르다는 것을 보였다.

Recently, we encountered a man with isolated bilateral sixth nerve palsies and areflexia whose titer of anti-GQ1b IgG antibody was elevated. We propose that bilateral sixth nerve palsies can be the sole manifestation of "anti-GQ1b antibody syndromes" and that patients with isolated bilateral sixth nerve palsies should be administered an anti-GQ1b antibody test for the diagnosis of acute immune-related neuropathy.
