  • The Mobile Mapping System collects geographic information through mounted sensors such as a pair of CCD camera, CPS, IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit) and Odometer at regular distance or time interval. The advantage of such system is to easy identification of positions and geographic informations of mobile objects in real time. Among many wireless communication ways for real-time positions and geographic information data from the mobile mapping system to the user such as PDA, wireless modem, cellophane, and web, the web is considered to be more stabile, effect and economic than any other methods. In this paper, a study on the web-based real-time mobile mapping platform to identify the user position is presented using the real-time NovAtel BDS.

  • Nowadays it is necessary to manage the road system effectively because of the explosive increment of vehicle and goods. To resolve this problems through the fast upgrade of information about position and time of moving vehicle, the combined navigation system using GPS and complementary navigation system, i.e. INS, DR, etc. has been used. Although GPS is popular for the vehicle navigation system, this is not useful for the kinematic positioning of the vehicles in the urban canyon because of its few satellites. Therefore, this study deals with the kinematic positioning of the vehicles with GPS CORS to GPS navigation. For this, first the static single point positioning of GPS and GPS for reference station was performed to evaluate the accuracy of GPS positioning. Next, in the post-processed, the DGPS (Differential GPS) was performed for the kinematic positioning of the vehicles. So, it is expected that GPS CORS can be applicable to the control of traffic flow, the effective management of road system, and the development of ITS and it is regarded that the combined navigation system of vehicles with GPS, INS, and DR, etc. should be studied constantly.

  • The purpose of the study is to develop ship's bearing sensor using GPS receiver which can play a role as a ship's secondary compass. In this research, two GPS receivers are used to determine the bearing in real time. Then we investigated the bearing accuracy associated with the error pattern of two GPS receivers. Especially, the results are as follows the investigation on the system design of GPS-Compass, the modeling to compute heading of sailing, the analysis on bearing accuracy with the error pattern, the defining possibility to play a role as a ship's secondary compass.

  • Positioning system using satellite GPS is used at positioning, navigation, acquisition time information and other various field and taking an important part precision guided weapon such as missile. But commercial code(C/A code) do not have ECCM. Therefore commercial code is vulnerable to various jamming techniques and noise jamming from near station can attack even the encrypted military code(P code) GPS. In this paper, GPS jamming techniques, North Korean GPS jamming cases and anti-jamming GP S technologies are surveyed and described.

  • Among GPS methods, first of all, we used RTK GPS to analyze the precision of monitoring and then on the basis of it, we developed a monitoring system using RTK GPS when we measured the behavior of main tower of a suspension bridge by using RTK GPS method and IMU, which was an inertia navigation system. Comparing a deviation between observation value using IMU and RTK GPS, X axis was 1mm, Y axis 1mm and Z axis 2.21mm. It turned out that it was possible to monitor and measure structures by using RTK GPS method. Besides, in order to manage the structures and prevent their disaster, the transformed monitoring, which used dynamic RTK GPS measurement method, was applied in real time. It was verified that it could be used as transformed monitoring measurement method for massive structures.

  • GPS/Meteorology technique for PWV monitoring is currently actively being researched an advanced nation. We deal with the monitoring of GPS derived PWV during the passage of Typhoon MAEMI. Typhoon MAEMI which caused a series damage was passed over in Korea peninsula from September 12 to September 13, 2003. We obtained GPS-PWV at 17th GPS permanent stations. We retrieve GPS data hourly and use Gipsy-Oasis II software. The GPS-PWV time series results demonstrate that PWV is, in general, high before and during the occurrence of the typhoon, and low after the typhoon.

  • We present a GPS-derived regional ionosphere model, which estimates Total Electron Content (TEC) in rectangular grids on the spherical shell over Korea. The GPS data from nine GPS stations were used. The pseudorange data were phase-leveled by a linear combination of pseudoranges and carrier phases. During a quiet day of solar activity, the regional ionosphere map indicated 30-45 Total Electron Content Unit (TECU) at the peak of the diurnal variation. In comparison with the Global Ionosphere Map of the Center for Orbit Determination in Europe, RMS differences were at the level of 4-5 TECU for five days.

  • The Development of GPS practical using and systematic fixing for GPS Quality Control System on On-Line.   • In case of KOREA, many difficulties are expected for pilots to adapt to the flight operational environment changes which we will meet suddenly in anytime of the future as the operating plan for GPS is not fully prepared yet. It is because GPS operation is rather difficult compared to other navigation equipments, and it takes much time and experience to be familiar with GPS instrument approach procedure. First of all, it is keenly required to establish GPS instrument approach procedure for the local airports to be familiar with GPS instrument approach procedure. We would like to introduce GPS instrument approach procedure for the Cheju International Airport as a basic model to help you to understand it.

  • A GPS receiver provides much information such as calculated position, speed, heading, status of satellites, current time errors, etc. It is well-known that GPS signals from GPS receiver mounted on moving vehicle are often distorted, contaminated by various noises, and blocked by tunnel or tall buildings. The phenomenon often obstructs correct navigation especially when a vehicle keeps stopping or is moving in low speed. Therefore it is needed to pre-process the signals to adapt it to various applications. In this paper, an algorithm to pre-process the signals is proposed. For this, GPS data obtaining from uNAV GPS receiver are analyzed and classified based on dynamic characteristic. Then, the proposed algorithm is applied to the data and some test results are shown to verify the usefulness of the algorithm.
