  • We can process and compute the position, velocity and time by satellite signals of GPS. The signals are used to compute positioning of three dimensions and timing offset of the receiver clock when we can track the tour satellite signals at least. One of the specified aims is to use less expensive single frequency code/carrier phase GPS receivers, which are typically around half the price of dual frequency receivers. In the study, the author analyzed the accuracy and applicability of frequence linear combination using triangulation points evaluated distance limitation.

GPS/RTS data fusion to overcome signal deficiencies in certain bridge dynamic monitoring projects

  • Measurement of deflections of certain bridges is usually hampered by corruption of the GPS signal by multipath associated with passing vehicles, resulting to unrealistically large apparent displacements. Field data from the Gorgopotamos train bridge in Greece and systematic experiments revealed that such bias is due to superimposition of two major effects, (i) changes in the geometry of satellites because of partial masking of certain satellites by the passing vehicles (this effect can be faced with solutions excluding satellites that get temporarily blocked by passing vehicles) and (ii) dynamic multipath caused from reflection of satellite signals on the passing trains, a high frequency multipath effect, different from the static multipath. Dynamic multipath seems to have rather irregular amplitude, depending on the geometry of measured satellites, but a typical pattern, mainly consisting of a baseline offset, wide base peaks correlating with the sequence of main reflective surfaces of the vehicles passing next to the antenna. In cases of limited corruption of GPS signal by dynamic multipath, corresponding to scale distortion of the short-period component of the GPS waveforms, we propose an algorithm which permits to reconstruct the waveform of bridge deflections using a weak fusion of GPS and RTS data, based on the complementary characteristics of the two instruments. By application of the proposed algorithm we managed to extract semi-static and dynamic displacements and oscillation frequencies of a historical railway bridge under train loading by using noisy GPS and RTS recordings. The combination of GPS and RTS is possible because these two sensors can be fully collocated and have complementary characteristics, with RTS and GPS focusing on the long- and short-period characteristics of the displacement, respectively.

  • In Taiwan, there are more the one hundred GPS tracking stations maintained by Ministry of the Interior (MOI), Academia Sinica, Central Weather Bureau and Central Geological Survey. In the further, they may be instead of the GPS controlling points after giving the lawful status. In other words, the engineers don't need to survey on the reference points when they are surveying in the field. They only need to download the GPS data via internet and process the observations in their company. The precise coordinates of the unknown points will be obtained. Therefore, the data qualities of the tracking stations are more and more important. In this study, six data quality indexes were adopted as follows: observations, cycle slips, multipath on L1, multipath on L2, clock offset and frequency stability. Besides, the relationships of the indexes and the positioning precision were found. The frequency stability of GPS receiver is the most important index, the cycle slip is the second index and the mutlipath is the third index. According to the results, the auto-analytical system of GPS data quality was established and the tracking stations were monitored. When the receiver got some problem or the station's environment changed, we hope to find and resolve the problems earlier to make sure the high data quality of the tracking stations. Moreover, we try to design a data quality verification to help users and let the engineers have more and more confidence when they use the data of GPS tracking stations.

Quantitative analysis of the errors associated with orbit uncertainty for FORMOSAT-3

  • The FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC mission is a micro satellite mission to deploy a constellation of six micro satellites at low Earth orbits. The final mission orbit is of an altitude of 750-800 lan. It is a collaborative Taiwan-USA science experiment. Each satellite consists of three science payloads in which the GPS occultation experiment (GOX) payload will collect the GPS signals for the studies of meteorology, climate, space weather, and geodesy. The GOX onboard FORMOSAT -3 is designed as a GPS receiver with 4 antennas. The fore and aft limb antennas are installed on the front and back sides, respectively, and as well as the two precise orbit determination (POD) antennas. The precise orbit information is needed for both the occultation inversion and geodetic research. However, the instrument associated errors, such as the antenna phase center offset and even the different cable delay due to the geometric configuration of fore- and aft-positions of the POD antennas produce error on the orbit. Thus, the focus of this study is to investigate the impact of POD antenna parameter on the determination of precise satellite orbit. Furthermore, the effect of the accuracy of the determined satellite orbit on the retrieved atmospheric and ionospheric parameters is also examined. The CHAMP data, the FORMOSAT-3 satellite and orbit parameters, the Bernese 5.0 software, and the occultation data processing system are used in this work. The results show that 8 cm error on the POD antenna phase center can result in ~8 cm bias on the determined orbit and subsequently cause 0.2 K deviation on the retrieved atmospheric temperature at altitudes above 10 lan.

QoS 개선과 서비스 커버리지 확장을 위한 단일 주파수망 지상파 DMB 최적화 배치 (Optimum Configuration of Single Frequency Network DMB to enhance the QoS and Service coverage)

  • 본 논문에서는 지상파 DMB 단일 주파수 망(SFN) 설계에서 GPS를 기준 시각으로 모든 사이트의 송출 동기를 일치시키는 기존의 운용방식과 병행하여, 각 사이트의 지형적 특징을 반영한 송신 offset delay를 추가 적용함으로써 동일한 송신 제원으로 기존 대비 서비스 영역을 확장시키는 방법을 연구하였다. 실험결과 미약한 수신 전계강도 지역에서 송신 offset delay가 수신 신호품질을 개선시켰으며 방송 통신위원회가 권고하는 최소 수신 전계강도($45dB{\mu}V/m$) 지점을 기준으로 4~8 km 서비스 영역이 확장됨을 확인하였다. 각 사이트 별 고유한 송신 offset delay를 계산하기 위해서 서비스 영역 내 지리적 특징, 인접 사이트 간 전계강도 분포, 그리고 사이트별 서비스 목표 영역 등 여러 사항을 고려하였으며 본 연구에 대한 검증 실험은 수도권 DMB 서비스 영역으로 한정하였다. 또한 산출된 송신 offset delay가 단일 주파수망에 미치는 영향을 분석하기위해 수신 전계강도와 delay 간의 상관관계를 실험을 통해 분석함으로써, 송신 offset delay의 적용이 서비스 영역을 얼마나 확장시킬 수 있는지 확인하였다.

송전선로용 디지털 고장점 표정장치에 관한 연구 (A Study on Digital Fault Locator for Transmission Line)

  • Transmission line is exposed to a large area, and then faults are likely to occur than the other component of power system. When a fault occurs on a transmission line, fault locator helps fast recovery of power supply on power system. This paper deals with the design of a digital fault locator for improvement accuracy of the fault distance estimation and a fault occurrence position for transmission line. The algorithm of a fault locator uses a DC offset removal filter and DFT filter. The algorithm utilizes a fault data of GPS time synchronized. The computed fault information is transmitted to the other side substation through communication. The digital fault locator includes MPU module, ADPU module, SIU module, and a power module. The MMI firmware and software of the fault locator was implemented.

선박의 위성 통신을 위한 TMBOC 신호의 비모호 상관함수 (An Unambiguous Correlation Function of TMBOC Signal for Satellite Communication of Vessels)

  • 본 논문에서는 시간 복합 이진 옵셋 반송파 (time-multiplexed binary offset carrier: TMBOC) 신호 추적을 위한 비모호 상관함수를 제안한다. 구체적으로 TMBOC 변조는 두 개의 sine 위상 BOC 신호를 시간 영역에서 번갈아가며 전송한다는 것에 주목하여 각 sine 위상 BOC 신호 별로 신호를 쪼개어 부분 상관함수들을 만들고, 이들을 재결합함으로써 주변 첨두가 없는 상관함수를 생성한다. 모의실험을 통해 제안한 비모호 상관함수를 이용한 경우, 자기상관함수를 이용하는 경우에 비해 향상된 추적 오류 표준편차 성능을 가짐을 확인하였다.

Development of a Prototype of Guidance System for Rice-transplanter

  • Purpose: It is not easy to drive a rice-transplanter avoiding underlapped or overlapped transplanting in paddy fields. An automated guidance system for the riding-type rice-transplanter would be necessary to operate the rice-transplanter autonomously or to assist the beginning drivers as a driving aid. Methods: A prototype of guidance system was composed of embedded computers, RTK-GPS, and a power-steering mechanism. Two Kalman filters were adopted to overcome sparse positioning data (1 Hz) from the RTK-GPS. A global Kalman filter estimated the posture of rice-transplanter every one second, and a local Kalman filter calculated the posture from every new estimation of the global Kalman filter with an interval of 200 ms. A PID controller was applied to the row-following mode control. A control method of U-turning mode was developed as well. A stepping motor with a reduction gear set was used to rotate the shaft of steering wheel. Results: Test trials for U-turning and row-following modes were done in a paddy field after some parameters have been tuned at the ground speed range of 0.3 ~ 1.2 m/s. The minimum RMS error of offset was 3.13 cm at the ground speed of 0.3 m/s while the maximum RMS error was 13.01 cm at 1.2 m/s. The offset RMS error tended to increase as the ground speed increased. The target point distance, LT also affected the system performance and PID controller parameters should be adjusted on different ground speeds. Conclusions: A target angle-based PID controller plus stationary steering angle controller made it possible for the rice-transplanter to steer autonomously by following a reference line accurately and even on U-turning mode. However, as condition in paddy fields is very complicated, the system should control the ground speed that prevents it from deviating too much due to ditch and slope.

수중 음향 네트워크를 위한 시간 동기화 기술 동향 분석에 대한 연구 (A Survey of Time Synchronization Techniques in Underwater Acoustic Networks)

  • 수중음향 네트워크를 이용한 다양한 수중 어플리케이션에서 노드들은 서로 통신을 통하여 협업 또는 자율 독립적으로 동작하기 때문에 노드들 간 시간 동기화 문제는 중요한 이슈가 되고 있다. 또한, 수중 음향네트워크에서는 육상 네트워크에서와 달리 GPS 사용불가, 긴 전파지연, 해류에 의한 노드의 이동, 제한적 전력소비, 낮은 전송속도 등의 고유의 제약 사항이 있어 수중 노드들의 시간 동기화를 위해서는 이러한 제약 들이 반드시 고려된다. 본 논문에서는 수중음향 네트워크를 위해 보다 효율적인 시간 동기화 프로토콜 개발을 위해, 현재까지 개발되었던 수중 동기화 프로토콜의 특징을 비교 분석하여 현재 (state-of-the-art) 수중 음향 네트워크 동기화 연구 동향의 흐름을 정리한다.

위성측량을 이용한 지적기준점의 정확도 분석 (An Analysis of the Accuracy of Reference Points in Cadastral Area Using GPS)

  • 본 연구에서는 기존 지적측량 방법으로 확정된 지구를 선정하여 확정측량 당시에 사용한 지적삼각점과 지적삼각보조점, 도근점의 좌표 성과가 위성측량으로 결정된 좌표 성과와의 편위량을 분석하여, 제 점 상호간에 미치는 영향에 대하여 연구함으로써 지적확정측량 시 고려해야 할 사항들을 도출하고자 하였다. 연구결과 오차방향이 반대인 기존 지적삼각점을 기준으로 지적삼각보조점의 좌표를 결정할 경우, 그 오차가 서로 상쇄되어 지구계 내의 전체적인 오차가 작아졌음을 알 수 있었으며, 지적삼각보조점을 기준으로 한 도근점의 좌표성과는 교점을 중심으로 오차량이 서로 상쇄되어 상대적으로 편차량이 작아지고 있으나 각 도선별로 오차 발생 경향을 분석한 결과 지적삼각보조점에 가까운 도근점이 지적삼각보조점의 오차 영향을 많이 받고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
