무인 수상정의 융합 항법 및 GPS 이상 검출 (Fused Navigation of Unmanned Surface Vehicle and Detection of GPS Abnormality)

  • This paper proposes an approach to fused navigation of an unmanned surface vehicle(USV) and to detection of the outlier or interference of global positioning system(GPS). The method fuses available sensor measurements through extended Kalman filter(EKF) to find the location and attitude of the USV. The method uses error covariance of EKF for detection of GPS outlier or interference. When outlier or interference of the GPS is detected, the method excludes GPS data from navigation process. The measurements to be fused for the navigation are GPS, acceleration, angular rate, magnetic field, linear velocity, range and bearing to acoustic beacons. The method is tested through simulated data and measurement data produced through ground navigation. The results show that the method detects GPS outlier or interference as well as the GPS recovery, which frees navigation from the problem of GPS abnormality.

  • 다양한 상업적, 군사적 방면에서 사용되고 있는 위성항법시스템(Global Positioning System: GPS)은 특정 사용자나 물체의 위치를 추정하기 위해 설계되었다. 정확한 위치추정을 위해 위성항법시스템은 최소 네 개의 위성으로부터 신호를 수신하여야 한다. GPS 수신기는 매우 낮은 신호-대-잡음 비(signal-to-noise ratio: SNR)에서 동작하며, GPS 신호에 비해 매우 높은 전력을 가지는 간섭신호들에 의해 위치추정 성능에 영향을 받을 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 고 전력 간섭들을 정확한 GPS 신호의 도래각(angle-of-arrival: AOA) 정보 없이 제거하는 변형된 역확산기(modified despreader) 기반의 다수개의 GPS 신호를 위한 적응 간섭제거기를 소개한다. 또한 변형된 역환산 빔형성기의 출력에 대한 신호-대-간섭 및 잡음 비(signal-to-interference and noise ratio: SINR)의 수학적 해석을 제공한다. 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통해 고려된 GPS 수신기의 간섭제거성능과 SINR에 대한 수학적 해석을 확인한다.

Anti-interference Methods using Vector-based GPS Receiver Mode

  • The Global Positioning System (GPS) has become popular and widely used in many fields from military to civilian applications. However, GPS signals are suffered from interference due to its weak signal over wireless channel. There are many types of interference, such as jamming, blocking multipath, and spoofing, which can mislead the operation of GPS receiver. In this paper, vector-based tracking loop model with integrity check is proposed to detect and mitigate the harmful effect of interference on GPS receiver operation. The suggested methods are implemented in the tracking loop of GPS receiver. As a first method, integrity check with carrier-to-noise ratio (C/No) monitoring technique is applied to detect the presence of interference and prevent contaminated channels out of tracking channels to calculate position. As a second method, a vector-based tracking loop using Extended Kalman Filter with adaptive noise covariance according to C/No monitoring results. The proposed methods have been implemented on simulated dataset. The results demonstrates that the suggested methods significantly mitigate interference of Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and improve position calculation by 44%.

GPS 보호비 연구 (A Study on the Protection Ratio of GPS)

  • GPS(Global Positioning System)서비스는 다 우선서비스보다 중요성을 갖는 서비스로 분류 된다. 따라서, GPS는 간섭신호로부터 보호할 필요가 있으며 이에 본 논문에서는 비트에러율(BER)을 근거로 GPS의 보호비를 제안하였다. 도출된 최대허용 간섭신호는 -190 dBm/Hz이며 간섭신호 대 잡음비(I/N)값은 -16 dB이다. 도출된 GPS 보호비(I/N)는 GPS의 실제 운용마진을 4 dB로 고려할 경우 -20 dB로 요구된다. 분석결과는 향후 안정적인 GPS 서비스 운용을 위한 국내 GPS 보호기준 제정에 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다.

간섭신호 감쇄필터 설계를 위한 고분해능의 GPS 수신기 플랫폼 개발 (Development of a GPS Receiver Platform with High Resolution to Design of Interference Excision Filters)

  • A GPS receiver platform has been developed to design an interference rejection filter and the platform is also able to evaluate performance of those filters. This platform consists of RF/IF part, data acquisition part and PC part. The RF/IF part converts RF signals to IF signals, the data acquisition part transmits the IF signals to PC using USB device. The PC part rejects the interferences with a filter and then it does navigation with GPS software receiver. The RF/IF part and data acquisition part had been validated with signal spectrum, and the PC part had been validated with the navigation results of GPS receiver. Finally, the entire platform including interference rejection filter has been confirmed with the navigation results in case that the GPS signals and interference entered this platform. As a result, the GPS receiver operated well against interference with 45dB JSR.

  • In this paper, the design, construction and basic characteristics of an electronically adaptive array antenna for the GPS receiver is described. The susceptibility of the GPS signals to the interference is of concern to the GPS user community. Because of the low received power of the GPS signals, outages can easily occur due to the unintentional interference and the easily obtainable low cost GPS jammer denying access to the GPS signals. We propose a technique of the adaptive array antenna that detects the GPS interference sources and controls the null beam pattern only toward the jamming sources to acquire GPS navigation data after acquisition and tracking of the GPS signals.

An Adaptive Narrowband Interference Excision Filter with Low Signal Loss for GPS Receivers

  • As the low power GPS signal is susceptible to interference, interference can seriously degrade the performance of GPS receiver. This paper designs a ANIEF(Adaptive Narrowband Interference Excision in Frequency domain) filter that removes narrow band interferences with low signal loss. This filter uses the pre-correlation technique and attempts to filter out the interference in the frequency domain. The interference excision performance of the designed filter is evaluated for various interferences using the ANIEF filter inserted GPS software receiver and the interference generator. Interferences considered in this paper are single-tone CWI(Continuous Wave Interference), multi-tones CWI, pulsed CWI, and swept CWI. The narrowband interference excision filter in frequency domain is very effective against various interferences and the strong interference with a simple structure. However, the signal power loss is unavoidable while transforming. In this paper, the hamming window and overlap technique are adopted to reduce the signal power loss. Finally, the interference excision performance and the reduced signal power loss of the ANIEF filter are shown.

협대역 간섭신호에 의한 GPS 수신기 영향 분석 (A Study on Effectiveness Analysis of the GPS Receiver by the Narrowband interference signals)

  • This paper presents the GPS receiver's inherent interference effectiveness based on the receiver's internal processing gain. This research is to verify the weakness of the GPS satellite signals and evaluate the receiver's vulnerability in an interference situation. The experiment for the narrow band interference effectiveness for the L1 C/A code GPS receiver has been performed by using the Spirent GSS4765 jamming simulator. After analyzing the experimental result, it is compared with the calculated J/S value of the two different L1 C/A code GPS receivers. By the above result, the narrowband jamming effectiveness of the each jamming source and the jamming margin for the each receiver are to be analyzed in detail. Finally, we could utilize the result to analyze the jamming effectiveness on the GNSS receiver.

  • GPS 신호체계는 대역확산 방식을 사용하며, 신호의 크기는 시스템 잡음수준 이하이므로 외부 전파 간섭신호에 매우 취약하며, 이는 GPS를 이용하는 선박 또는 항공기 에 대한 안전 운항을 제한 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 GPS 간섭 신호 제거를 위한 K-median 방식의 문턱치 설정 방식을 적용한 주파수 영역의 신호 처리 기법을 제안하며, 이는 기존에 보편적으로 사용되는 시간 영역에서의 간섭신호 제거 방식보다, 시간에 따른 신호 변화가 큰 간섭신호를 인가한 조건에 대해서 상대적으로 우수한 성능을 가짐을 확인하였다.
