RTK Latency Estimation and Compensation Method for Vehicle Navigation System

  • Latency occurs in RTK, where the measured position actually outputs past position when compared to the measured time. This latency has an adverse effect on the navigation accuracy. In the present study, a system that estimates the latency of RTK and compensates the position error induced by the latency was implemented. To estimate the latency, the speed obtained from an odometer and the speed calculated from the position change of RTK were used. The latency was estimated with a modified correlator where the speed from odometer is shifted by a sample until to find best fit with speed from RTK. To compensate the position error induced by the latency, the current position was calculated from the speed and heading of RTK. To evaluate the performance of the implemented method, the data obtained from an actual vehicle was applied to the implemented system. The results of the experiment showed that the latency could be estimated with an error of less than 12 ms. The minimum data acquisition time for the stable estimation of the latency was up to 55 seconds. In addition, when the position was compensated based on the estimated latency, the position error decreased by at least 53.6% compared with that before the compensation.

사용자 움직임 인식이 가능한 휴대형 센서 디바이스 구현 (Implementation of a Mobile Sensor Device Capable of Recognizing User Activities)

  • 본 논문에서는 사용자의 일상적인 동작 분석자료를 기반으로 실시간으로 사용자의 움직임 추정이 가능한 휴대형 센서 디바이스 및 활용 결과를 소개한다. 센서 디바이스는 3차원 가속센서와 GPS를 장착하고 있으며 센서 데이터 처리 및 움직임 추정을 위한 32비트 마이크로컨트롤러, 그리고 센서 데이터 및 추정결과를 전송하기 위한 블루투스 타입의 무선 통신 모듈을 포함한다. 완성된 디바이스는 50*47*14(mm)의 크기이며 리튬이온 소형 배터리 기준으로 연속 사용시 최대 10시간, 대기시간은 약 160시간 정도의 소형/저전력 형태로 구현되었다. 추정 가능한 사용자 움직임의 종류는 크게 3가지("서기", "달리기", "걷기")이며 피실험자군에 의한 동일 동작에 대한 가속센서 변화량을 학습하여 결정 트리 형식으로 사용자 움직임을 결정한다. 실험 결과 사용자 움직임 추정에 대한 정확도는 90% 이상인 것으로 확인되었다.

Photogrammetric Georeferencing Using LIDAR Linear and Areal Features

  • Photogrammetric mapping procedures have gone through major developments due to significant improvements in its underlying technologies. The availability of GPS/INS systems greatly assist in direct geo-referencing of the acquired imagery. Still, photogrammetric datasets taken without the aid of positioning and navigation systems need control information for the purpose of surface reconstruction. Point features were, and still are, the primary source of control for the photogrammetric triangulation although other higher-order features are available and can be used. LIDAR systems supply dense geometric surface information in the form of three dimensional coordinates with respect to certain reference system. Considering the accuracy improvement of LIDAR systems in the recent years, LIDAR data is considered a viable supply of photogrammetric control. To exploit LIDAR data, new challenges are poised concerning the representation and reference system by which both the photogrammetric and LIDAR datasets are described. In this paper, registration methodologies will be devised for the purpose of integrating the LIDAR data into the photogrammetric triangulation. Such registration methodologies have to deal with three issues: registration primitives, transformation parameters, and similarity measures. Two methodologies will be introduced that utilize straight-line and areal features derived from both datasets as the registration primitives. The first methodology directly incorporates the LIDAR lines as control information in the photogrammetric triangulation, while in the second methodology, LIDAR patches are used to produce and align the photogrammetric model. Also, camera self-calibration experiments were conducted on simulated and real data to test the feasibility of using LIDAR patches for this purpose.

Research Trends for Performance, Safety, and Comfort Evaluation of Agricultural Tractors: A Review

  • Background: Significant technological development and changes happened in the tractor industries. Contrariwise, the test procedures of the major standard development organizations (SDO's) remained unchanged or with a little modification over the years, demanding new tractor test standards or improvement of existing ones for tractor performance, safety, and comfort. Purpose: This study focuses on reviewing the research trends regarding performance, safety and comfort evaluation of agricultural tractors. Based on this review, few recommendations were proposed to revise or improve the current test standards. Review: Tractor power take-off power test using the DC electric dynamometer reduced human error in the testing process and increased the accuracy of the test results. GPS signals were used to determine acceleration and converted into torque. High capacity double extended octagonal ring dynamometer has been designed to measure drawbar forces. Numerical optimization methodology has been used to design three-point hitch. Numerous technologies, driving strategies, and transmission characteristics are being considered for reducing emissions of gaseous and particulate pollutants. Engine emission control technology standards need to be revised to meet the exhaust regulations for agricultural tractors. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) program has been used to design Roll-Over Protective Structures (ROPS). Program and methodology has been presented for testing tractor brake systems. Whole-body vibration emission levels have been found to be very dependent upon the nature of field operation performed, and the test track techniques required development/adaptation to improve their suitability during standardized assessment. Emphasizes should be given to improve visibility and thermal environment inside the cab for tractor operator. Tractors need to be evaluated under electromagnetic compatibility test conditions due to large growing of electronic devices. Research trends reviewed in this paper can be considered for possible revision or improvement of tractor performance, safety, and comfort test standards.

비행검사용 항공기를 이용한 김포국제공항 GBAS 비행시험 및 성능평가 (GBAS Flight Testing and Performance Assessment using Flight Inspection Aircraft at Gimpo International Airport)

  • GBAS는 Differential GPS(DGPS) 개념을 활용하여 공항근처 23NM 반경 이내에 위치한 항공기에 정밀위치서비스와 정밀접근서비스를 제공하는 시스템으로, GBAS 지상장비는 공항에 설치된 이후에 지상 및 비행시험평가를 통해 그 기능 및 성능을 검증하도록 되어있다. 본 논문에서는 김포국제공항에 설치된 GBAS 지상장비에 대해 비행검사용 항공기를 이용한 비행시험 방법 및 결과를 분석하여 기술하였다. 시험 결과 김포공항의 GBAS 신호통달범위 내에서 VDB 데이터가 오류 없이 정상적으로 수신되었으며, VDB 전계강도, 보호수준, 코스정렬 정확도 등도 평가 요구조건을 충분히 만족시키는 것을 확인하였다.

  • Korean goral (Nemorhaedus caudatus raddeanus) is one of the endangered species in Korea, and the rugged terrain of the Soraksan National Park (373㎢) is a critical habitat for the species. But the goral population is threatened by habitat fragmentation caused by roads and hiking trails. The objective of this study was to develop a potential habitat suitability model for Korean goral in the park, and the model was based on the concepts of fuzzy set theory and multi-criteria evaluation. The process of the suitability modeling could be divided into three steps. First, data for the modeling was collected by using field work and a literature survey. Collected data included 204 points of GPS data obtained through a goral trace survey and through the number of daily visitors to each hiking trail during the peak season of the park. Second, fuzzy set theory was employed for building a GIS data base related to environmental factors affecting the suitability of the goral habitat. Finally, a multiple-criteria evaluation was performed as the final step towards a goral habitat suitability model. The results of the study were as follows. First, characteristics of suitable habitats were the proximity to rock cliffs, scattered pine (Pinus densiflora) patches, ridges, the elevation of 700∼800m, and the aspect of south and southeast. Second, the habitat suitability model had a high classification accuracy of 93.9% for the analysis site, and 95.7% for the validation site at a cut off value of 0.5. Finally, 11.7% of habitatwith more than 0.5 of habitat suitability index was affected by roads and hiking trails in the park.

AltBOC의 코드 추적을 위한 비모호 상관함수 생성 기법 (Generating Method of an Unambiguous Correlation Function for AltBOC Signal Tracking)

  • AltBOC 신호의 자기상관함수는 좁은 주 첨두로 인하여 향상된 측위 정확도를 제공한다. 하지만, AltBOC 신호의 자기상관함수에는 주변 첨두가 존재하기 때문에, 이로 인해 심각한 위치 추적 오류를 일으킬 수 있다는 단점이 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 AltBOC 신호 추적을 위한 비모호 상관함수 생성 기법을 제안한다. 구체적으로는, 우선 서로 대칭인 부분 상관함수를 얻은 후, 이들을 조합하여 주변 첨두가 제거된 비모호 상관함수를 생성한다. 모의실험을 통해 제안한 상관함수를 이용하여 신호 추적을 수행할 경우, 기존의 상관함수들에 비해 더욱 뛰어난 추적 오류 표준 편차 (tracking error standard deviation: TESD) 성능을 보임을 확인한다.

무선랜 네트워크의 인프라 정보를 이용한 위치측위 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on a Location Determination System using Infrastructure Information of a WLAN Network)

  • 본 연구는, 무선랜 네트워크 내에서 인프라 스트럭쳐가 제공하는 정보를 이용하여 에이전트 단말의 위치를 결정하는 위치정보 제공 시스템을 개발, 제시하였다. 본 시스템은 일반적인 ESS(Extended Service Set)형의 무선랜 구성에서 AP(Access Point) 컨트롤러를 통해 실시간 위치 측위 엔진을 구성하였으며, 측위 엔진은 SNMP(Small Network Management Protocol)을 이용하여, 각각의 AP에 접속하여 통신 패킷을 송수신하는 에이전트 단말의 정보를 AP 컨트롤러로부터 수집하여 위치 기반 서비스용 Cell ID.정보로 활용하게 된다. 실제 사무실 환경에서 구현해 본 결과, 평균 62.5%의 AP간 로밍 성공률을 보였으나 AP내 단말정보의 업데이트 시간은 평균 11초로서, 정확한 위치정보와 함께 긴급성이 덜 필요로 하는 위치기반 서비스에의 적용 가능성을 보였다.

기준국을 이용한 실내·외 절대 고도 산출 및 3D 항법 (Absolute Altitude Determination for 3-D Indoor and Outdoor Positioning Using Reference Station)

  • 본 논문은 3D 위치 정보를 산출하기 위한 기압고도계 및 기준국을 이용한 절대 고도 측정 정확도 향상에 관한 연구이다. GPS와 같은 위성 항법 시스템이 신뢰성이 있는 절대 고도를 제공하지 못하는 점과 기압 고도계가 변화하는 대기압의 특성상 절대 고도 정보를 제공하지 못한다는 문제점을 인식하고, 이를 개선하기 위해 새로운 기법을 제안하였다. 제안된 기법을 검증하기 위해 RTK를 활용한 기준국을 지정하고 시중에 판매하는 압력 센서 및 EVK 단말기를 활용하였으며, 실내 외에서의 사람의 이동으로 인한 고도 변화 실험과 차량을 이용한 이동 실험을 통해 검증하였다. 이 논문의 결과는 기준국을 이용하는 기존의 2D 측위 시스템을 간단히 3D 측위 시스템으로 확장할 수 있는 저가 솔루션을 제공할 수 있음을 보였다.

Virtual Ground Based Augmentation System

  • Since 1993, the civil aviation community through RTCA (Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics) and the ICAO (International Civil Air Navigation Organization) have been working on the definition of GNSS augmentation systems that will provide improved levels of accuracy and integrity. These augmentation systems have been classified into three distinct groups: Aircraft Based Augmentation Systems (ABAS), Space Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) and Ground Based Augmentation Systems (GBAS). The last one is an implemented system to support Air Navigation in CAT-I approaching operation. It consists of three primary subsystems: the GNSS Satellite subsystem that produces the ranging signals and navigation messages; the GBAS ground subsystem, which uses two or more GNSS receivers. It collects pseudo ranges for all GNSS satellites in view and computes and broadcasts differential corrections and integrity-related information; the Aircraft subsystem. Within the area of coverage of the ground station, aircraft subsystems may use the broadcast corrections to compute their own measurements in line with the differential principle. After selection of the desired FAS for the landing runway, the differentially corrected position is used to generate navigation guidance signals. Those are lateral and vertical deviations as well as distance to the threshold crossing point of the selected FAS and integrity flags. The Department of Applied Science in Naples has create for its study a virtual GBAS Ground station. Starting from three GPS double frequency receivers, we collect data of 24h measures session and in post processing we generate the GC (GBAS Correction). For this goal we use the software Pegasus V4.1 developed from EUROCONTROL. Generating the GC we have the possibility to study and monitor GBAS performance and integrity starting from a virtual functional architecture. The latter allows us to collect data without the necessity to found us authorization for the access to restricted area in airport where there is one GBAS installation.
