A Feynman functional formulation is given for the Global Positioning System, GPS. Both the sequential and analytic Feynman functionals are presented for the classical, exterior, gravity problems which included rigid body rotations, special relativity and some general relativity corrections. A mathematically rigorous approach is introduced whose solutions exist, are unique and which depend continuously on the intial data. This formulation is convergent and has the finite approximation property. It is emphasized that all of the problems studied are classical (not quantum) evolution systems.

Global Positioning System (GPS) is used in various fields such as communications systems, transportation systems, e-commerce, power plant systems, and up to various military weapons systems recently. However, GPS receiver is vulnerable to jamming signals as the GPS signals come from the satellites located at approximately 20,000 km above the earth. For this reason, various anti-jamming techniques have been developed for military application systems especially and it is also required for commercial application systems nowadays. In this paper, we proposed a dual-channel Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) RF ASIC for digital pre-correlation anti-jam technique. It not only covers all GNSS frequency bands, but is integrated low-gain/attenuation mode in low-noise amplifier (LNA) without influencing in/out matching and 14-bit analogdigital converter (ADC) to have a high dynamic range. With the aid of digital processing, jamming to signal ratio is improved to 77 dB from 42 dB with proposed receiver. RF ASIC for anti-jam is fabricated on a 0.18-μm complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology and consumes 1.16 W with 2.1 V (low-dropout; LDO) power supply. And the performance is evaluated by a kind of test hardware using the designed RF ASIC.

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) provides location information using signals from multiple satellites. However, a spoofing attack that forges signals or retransmits delayed signals may cause errors in the location information. To prevent such attacks, authentication protocols considering the navigation message structure of each GNSS can be used. In this paper, we analyze the authentication protocols of Global Positioning System (GPS), Galileo, and BeiDou, and compare the performance of Navigation Message Authentication (NMA) of the above systems, using several performance indicators. According to our analysis, authentication protocols are similar in terms of performing NMA and using Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA). On the other hand, they are different in several ways, for example, whether to perform Spreading Code Authentication (SCA), whether to use digital certificates and whether to use Timed Efficient Stream Loss-tolerant Authentication (TESLA). According to our quantitative analysis, the authentication protocol of Galileo has the shortest time between authentications and time to first authenticated fix. We also show that the larger the sum of the navigation message bits and authentication bits, the more severely affected are the time between authentications and the time to first authenticated fix.
Positioning accuracy by the Global Positioning System (GPS) is of great concern in a variety of research tasks. It is limited due to error sources such as ionospheric effect, orbital uncertainty, antenna phase center variation, signal multipath, and tropospheric influence. In this study, the tropospheric influence, primarily due to water vapour inhomogeneity, on GPS positioning height is investigated. The data collected by the GPS receivers along with co-located surface meteorological instruments in 2003 are utilized. The GPS receivers are established as continuously operating reference stations by the Ministry of the Interior (MOI), Central Weather Bureau (CWB), and Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of Taiwan, and International GNSS Service (IGS). The total number of GPS receivers is 21. The surface meteorological measurements include temperature, pressure, and humidity. They are introduced to GPS data processing with 24 troposphere parameters for the station heights, which are compared with those obtained without a priori knowledge of surface meteorological measurements. The results suggest that surface meteorological measurements have an expected impact on the GPS height. The daily correction maximum with the meteorological effect may be as large as 9.3 mm for the cases of concern.
This study develops a Global Positioning System (GPS) Code Multipath Grid Map (CMGM) of each individual domestic reference station from the extracted code multipath of measurement data. Multipath corresponds to signal reflection/refraction caused by obstacles around the receiver antenna, and it is a major source of error that cannot be eliminated by differencing. From the receiver-independent exchange format (RINEX) data for two days, the associated code multipath of a satellite tracking arc is extracted. These code multipath data go through bias correction and interpolation to yield the CMGM with respect to the azimuth and elevation angles. The effect of the CMGM on multipath mitigation is then quantitatively analyzed to improve the Root Mean Square (RMS) of averaged pseudo multipath. Furthermore, the single point positioning (SPP) accuracy is analyzed in terms of the RMS of the horizontal and vertical errors. During two weeks in February 2023, the RMSs of the averaged pseudo multipath for five reference stations decreased by about 40% on average after CMGM application. Also, the SPP accuracies increased by about 7% for horizontal errors and about 10% for vertical errors on average after CMGM application. The overall quantitative analysis indicates that the proposed approach will reduce the convergence time of Differential Global Navigation Satellite System (DGNSS), Real-Time Kinematic (RTK), and Precise Point Positioning (PPP)-RTK correction information in real-time to use measurement data whose code multipath is corrected and mitigated by the CMGM.
Hyundai Electronics Industries Corp has developed a navigation system which automatically computes the current position and displays it on the map using GPS(Global Positioning System). This system has such features as follow : searching of destination by means of digital mapping, locating of the present position on the map and detecting of guidance timing through signals from the artificial satellites and vehicle's sensors, and having a few of functions as TV & VTR monitoring, tracing the route, displaying service information which include hotels, restaurants, entertainments, et al. This paper describes the operations and construction of this navigation system.

This paper proposes an efficient integration method for GPS (Global Positioning System) and INS (Inertial Navigation System). To obtain accuracy and computational conveniency at the same time with low cost global positioning system receivers and micro mechanical inertial sensors, a new mechanization method and a new filter architecture are proposed. The proposed mechanization method simplifies velocity and attitude computation by eliminating the need to compute complex transport rate related to the locally-level frame which continuously changes due to unpredictable vehicle motions. The proposed filter architecture adopts two heterogeneous filters, i.e. position-domain Hatch filter and velocity-aided Kalman filter. Due to distict characteristics of the two filters and the distribution of computation into the two hetegrogeneous filters, it eliminates the cascaded filter problem of the conventional loosly-coupled integration method and mitigates the computational burden of the conventional tightly-coupled integration method. An experiment result with field-collected measurements verifies the feasibility of the proposed method.
Using the Total Electron Content (TEC) data from the Global Navigation Service System (GNSS) site in Jeju, operated by the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (geographic location: $33.3^{\circ}N$, $126.5^{\circ}E$; geomagnetic location: $23.6^{\circ}N$) for 2002-2014 in Korea, the results of the statistical analysis of positive and negative ionospheric storms are presented for the first time. In this paper, ionospheric storms are defined as turbulences that exceed 50% of the percentage differential Global Positioning System (GPS) TEC ratio (${\Delta}TEC$) with monthly median GPS TEC. During the period of observations, the total number of positive ionospheric storms (${\Delta}TEC$ > 50%) was 170, which is greater than five times the number of negative ionospheric storms (${\Delta}TEC$ < - 50%) of 33. The numbers of ionospheric storms recorded during solar cycles 23 and 24 were 134 and 69, respectively. Both positive and negative ionospheric storms showed yearly variation with solar activity during solar cycle 23, but during solar cycle 24, the occurrence of negative ionospheric storms did not show any particular trend with solar activity. This result indicates that the ionosphere is actively perturbed during solar cycle 23, whereas it is relatively quiet during solar cycle 24. The monthly variations of the ionospheric storms were not very clear although there seems to be stronger occurrence during solstice than during equinox. We also investigated the variations of GPS positioning accuracy caused by ionospheric storms during November 7-10, 2004. During this storm period, the GPS positioning accuracies from a single frequency receiver are 3.26 m and 2.97 m on November 8 and 10, respectively, which is much worse than the quiet conditions on November 7 and 9 with the accuracy of 1.54 m and 1.69 m, respectively.

In this paper, new LBS (location based service) are proposed using conventional DMB (digital multimedia/mobile broadcasting) system. LBS applications are proposed that can be suitable for the subway and ground transportation based on S-DMB (satellite-DMB) and T-DMB (terrestrial-DMB) respectively. In the shaded area such as subway, the broadcasting signal transmitted from the satellite of S-DMB system should be retransmitted by the earth repeater called the gap filler and each gap filler has its own identification value called the gap filler ID which introduces the area in which the gap filler was installed. Therefore, the LBS can be implemented by using the gap filler ID of S-DMB on the subway in which the GPS (global positioning system) can't be received. Unlike the LBS on the subway, the combination of T-DMB and DGPS (differential GPS) will be introduced as a way for ground transportation. Generally, DGPS has been designed to compensate the position value calculated from the GPS signal so that positioning error of about 1 meter can be obtained by using DGPS information. T-DMB system transmitting DGPS signal will be expected to be commercial in Korea and, if using DGPS information transmitted through T-DMB network, LBS with more precise positioning than GPS alone can be implemented in the ground vehicles.
