  • For the effective use of satellite communication transponder, tests for the payload system such as IOT(In-Orbit Test), RPM(Routine Payload Monitoring), CSM(Communicatios System Monitoring), and REV(Remote Earth-Station Verification) have to be conducted. Those tests are used in order to verify the condition and generic design of the satellite, to provide a database for operational calculations, and to maintain the quality of communication services. As the satellite communication system gets with wider expansion with higher complexity of operation, tests for the communication system also need more complex operation that usesophisticated computer-controlled measuring system. For and C language based measurement functions, which uses GPIB protocol and SCPI commands. But SICL requires knowledge of BASIC and C language as well as GPIB and SCPL system. This paper introduces a new language called CALSTEP-Control and Access Language for the Systems of Test Equipment and Payload. This language is designed for the operator to perform the tests for the satellite communication system without any special knowledge that is mentioned above. This language has very limited number of commands which are to be used to control the payload system and test equipments to perform IOT and CSM, and those commands are very readable and easy to understand, so an operator without any knowledge of BASIC and C programming language, or SICL and SCPI command can use it.

  • This paper is concerned with the development of remote engineering laboratory using the internet. Recently, various virtual laboratories are introduced using the multimedia technologies but the internet laboratory using the real hardware system is not present. In this study, we developed the remote engineering laboratory by combining the GPIB program which controls the hardwares with the web programming which controls the internet. The function generator, LCR meter, and oscilloscope were considered as the measurement devices. The client program includes the user-interface which carry out experiment remotely. Several electrical experiments were set up to verify the experimental process. It has been found that the remote engineering experiments are feasible and valid. The methodologies will be discussed in detail.

  • The conventional mercury delay method to measure compressional wave velocity of unconsolidated sediment is inconvenient because the signal must be analyzed on the oscilloscope and the mercury column has to be calibrated between measurements. We developed an automated compressional wave velocity measurement technique by connecting an oscilloscope and a PC with a GPIB (General Purpose Interface Bus) card. The GPIB card buses signals from the oscilloscope to the PC where the signal from a sample is analyzed and compared to the input pulse thereby the compressional wave velocity of the sample is computed and recorded automatically. Differences between the mercury delay method and the automated measurement technique are negligible except the slightly greater velocity in the automated measurement technique. We concluded that the new technique can be used to measure the velocity for unconsolidated marine sediment. It also has an advantage to calculate sediment attenuation through the processing of waveform using the spectral ratio technique.

  • Platelets arrest bleeding and repair damaged blood vessels. The purpose of this paper is to formulate a mathematical model for the control of platelet adhesion within the vasculature consistent with experimental findings, particularly those of Frenette, Ruggeri , Savage, Yuan, Lawrence and Springer. In addition to providing some, albeit rudimentary, insight into the behavior of platelets, a numerical simulation of this theoretical model may be useful in a systematic study of pathological cases. Glycoprotein receptor complex (GPIb/V/IX), found on the platelet surface membrane, binds to the adhesive protein and ligand von Willebrand factor (vWf), located within the sub-endothelium. The binding...

  • This paper presents the implementation of the low cost and high speed RF ATE(Automatic Test Equipment) system, which can be a reasonable solution for reducing the test cost of RF devices. This paper suggests high speed and precise measurement capabilities which are realized by the 16 independent RF ports with high speed switching time and high accuracy digitizer using the industry standard Versus module eXtensions for Instrument(VXI) General Purpose Interface Bus(GPIB) interfaces. Also, the system has the capabilities of quad-site test which can dramatically increase the device throughput. This paper concludes with the demonstration of the implemented ATE system through the setup of RF Power Amplifier Module(PAM), which is under the most competitive market situation.

  • The application of VXIbus system, an Industry standard, is rapidly spreading with its ability to offer the easiness of integration from GPIB and the fast data transmission from VMEbus system. Compared with VXIbus Register Based Device, VXIbus Message Based Device has a drawback In the aspect of speed. But it is possible to utilize high level ASCII commands to control a Message Based Device, therefore system integration is much easier with Message Based Device than with Register Based Device. And, the FFT analyzer is an instrument for signal analysis which can be inexpensively implemented to be fast and have high resolution. Its wide ability of analysis presents numerous application. So, it is necessary to apply VXIbus system to FFT analyzer. In this paper, the implementation of FFT analyzer is performed using a DSP module and by implementing all A/D conversion circuit and a control module which performs VXIbus interface. The device can be controlled by Slot0 Commender which supports VXIbus Shared Memory Protocol through VXIbus.

  • The Test Equipment for the upper stage of KSLV-I has following functions via umbilical cable interface; external power supply, command output such as discrete and analog, data acquisition, CS-I interface simulation for first stage of KSLV-I and RS-422 serial communication for PDU. The main purpose of UTE is the experiment or function verification of system-level upper stage. To realize this system, we used PXI control system. The UTE is consisted of the PXI control system, power supply, terminal block, internal harness, connector panel and so on. The software functions of UTE are classified by four blocks. These are Discrete/Analog I/O control, PDU RS-422 serial communication control, power supply GPIB control and UTE remote control. In this paper, we will describe the design on the hardware and software of UTE.

The system program consisted of a control part for the optical instruments and the spectrum analysis part the artificial intelligence method to reduce nonlinear error of the wavelengths. McPHERSON 207 Monochromator controlled GPIB communication protocol, and the detector signal was measured from PMT by using A/D Amplifier that was made by Photon_Tek. co.. HNN(Hybrid Neural Network) of artificial intelligence technique was applied to the qualitative analysis of P, Cu, Fe, Cr, and that was accurately applied to the quantitative analysis of Cd with 10 ppb level better than the conventional methods.

  • In this paper, a program that can be utilized to measure and analyze radio propagation characteristics is developed. This program is able to control the measurement instruments including spectrum analyzer through GPIB interface and analyze the measured data to yield mean excess delay and RMS delay spread. The measured path loss can be compared with theoretical value in free space or inside a tunnel. The measured and analyzed results can also be presented in the forms of graphs. As these tasks can be conducted on the spot of the measurements, this program is very helpful in performing and verifying the measurements immediately. In this thesis radio propagation characteristics with frequency bands of 2.45 and 5.8GHz in subway tunnels are measured by using the program. Path loss and delay spread in subway tunnel is measured and compared according to the form of antenna beam and LOS(Line of Sight) and N-LOS(Non-Line of Sight).
