  • In this paper, several methods which guarantee the seamless editing when the splicing is applied to the MPEG-2 system streams are described. In the MPEG-2 system standard, it is recommended that the splicing technique is applied in the Transport Stream(TS) domain. However, in view of the video editing, the splicing at an arbitrary picture unit can not be guaranteed. The splicing in the PES domain is only considered in this paper because the PES is one of the MPEG-2 system streams and this result could be directly extended to the video splicing techniques in the TS or PS domain. Thus. the problems that might occur when different two PES streams are spliced and its effects to the video quality are compared and analyzed. Based on this analysis. several methods that can resolve these problems directly in the PES domain are proposed. Consequently, the computer simulation demonstrates that the splicing at a GOP modulo is guaranteed to have good video quality even without considering the state of the PES packet only if the PES_packet_length field of the PES packet header is used.

  • Two main characteristics of VBR MPEG video traffic are different statistics according to different picture types and the periodic traffic pattern due to GOP structure. Especially, the I-pictures at the beginning of each GOP generate $$\mu$h more traffic than other pictures. When several VBR Mpeg video sources are superposed, the I-picture starting times of these sources may significantly affect the cell loss characteristics of ATM $$\mu$tiplexers. In this paper, we propse a performance model for ATM $$\mu$tiplexers with VBR MPEG video sources whose starting times are arbitrary given. For analysis, both single and superposed source traffic are modeled as NDPPs (non-deterministic periodic processes), and the ATM $$\mu$tiplexer is modeled as a U-state NDPPD/D/1/B queueing system. It is hown that the numerical results are very close to the si$$\mu$ation results. From the relationships between the starting tiem distributions and the corresponding $$\mu$tiplexer performances, some considerations for designing a scheduling policy in order to obtain the maxi$$\mu$ $$\mu$tiplexing gain are presented.

  • Since the first HDV(High Definition Video) camcoder, HDR-FX1 with 1080i resolution, had been launched at 2004, the image capture and record with HD resolution have been possible by the various types of camcoder and recorder which can support the HDV format. At a present day, a non-linear editing system, which is composed of only one computer, can capture, edit and export the image with HDV format. The HDV format has the same class of resolution with HD and the same data transfer bit rate of DV(Digital Video). Additionally, the image with HDV format can be recorded in 6mm DV cassette tape. It is possible because the HDV format uses the concept of Long GOP(Gorup of pictures) method for its compression. In this paper, the characteristic feature of HDV format, the essential factors in editing with HDV format and the concept of Long GOP method for its compression have been studied for the way of effective HDV editing.

  • Objective: This study aimed to identify the genetic diversity and population structure of Mongolian horse populations according to the province of residence (Khentii, KTP; Uvs, USP; Omnogovi and Dundgovi, GOP; Khovsgol, KGP) using 14 microsatellite (MS) markers. Methods: A total of 269 whole blood samples were obtained from the four populations (KTP, USP, GOP, KGP) geographically distinct provinces. Multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was conducted using 14 MS markers (AHT4, ASB2, ASB17, ASB23, CA425, HMS1, HMS2, HMS3, HMS6, HMS7, HTG4, HTG6, HTG7, and VHL20), as recommended by the International Society for Animal Genetics. Capillary electrophoresis was conducted using the amplified PCR products, alleles were determined. Alleles were used for statistical analysis of genetic variability, Nei's DA genetic distance, principal coordinate analysis (PCoA), factorial corresponding analysis (FCA), and population structure. Results: On average, the number of alleles, expected heterozygosity (HExp), observed heterozygosity (HObs), and polymorphic information content among all populations were 11.43, 0.772, 0.757, and 0.737, respectively. In the PCoA and FCA, GOP, and KGP were genetically distinct from other populations, and the KTP and USP showed a close relationship. The two clusters identified using Nei's DA genetic distance analysis and population structure highlighted the presence of structurally clear genetic separation. Conclusion: Overall, the results of this study suggest that genetic diversity between KTP and USP was low, and that between GOP and KGP was high. It is thought that these results will help in the effective preservation and improvement of Mongolian horses through genetic diversity analysis and phylogenetic relationships.

  • The burst is to require abruptly high transmission rate in case of transmitting pre-stored variable bit rate video data, and it causes to be inefficient use of network resource, resource reservation. To avoid these problems, smoothing is transmission plan where variable rate video data is converted to a constant bit rate stream. These smoothing algorithms include CBA, MCBA, MVBA and others. To evaluate amount of burst reduction in the existing CBA, MCBA, MVBA algorithm, this paper compares the burst-related-factors of transmission plan in smoothing algorithms with original video sources which were stored Variable Bit Rate. There are maximum frame bytes, maximum GOP bytes, transmission rate variability per frame, transmission rate variability per GOP in burst-related evaluation factors. Experimental result shows burst-related factors of smoothing algorithms which were used for experiment lower than that of pre-stored video data, except special case.

  • A scene change detection is an important step for video indexing and retrieval. This paper proposes an algorithm by a phased algorithm for fast and accurate detection of abrupt scene changes in an MPEG compressed domain with minimal decoding requirements and computational effort. The proposed method compares two successive I-frames for locating a scene change occurring within the GOP and uses macroblock-coded type information contained in B-frames to detect the exact frame where the scene change occurred. The algorithm has the advantage of speed, simplicity and accuracy. In addition, it requires less amount of storage. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has better detection performance, such as precision and recall rate, than the existing method using all DC images.

  • This paper explores a border security system based on agent-based modeling and simulation (ABMS). The ABMS software platform, map aware non-uniform automata, is used to model various scenarios and evaluate the border security system given a set of infiltrators who have evolutionary behavior governed by genetic algorithm (GA). we formulated an optimization model and approximately solved it using a GA in order to capture near optimal behavior of an infiltrating force. The results presented give two significant insights for our border security system in that optimizing the infiltrator's behavior can make a significant difference and the quantitative results regarding the infiltrator's avoidance of each asset can be viewed as capturing their relative importance.

  • This paper proposes a consistency algorithm that is able to serve streaming data efficiently in VOD system. The media data is stripping into several pieces of data by the Round Robin method in order to media data service. The barrier mechanism is changed into the minimum data factor(SH. GOP) in this paper. The shared memory is allocated at one host with one fragment size. Data is combined with RTP packet transmission data format using barrier mechanism. I experiment and program the suggested algorithm on the VOD system.
