  • The clarification of insulation capability of GIS(Gas Insulated Substation) under very fast transient overvoltages such as disconnector/circuit-breaker induced surge is very important for establishing not only a rational insulation testing method, but also insulation design intending to make GIS more reliable and more minimized. One of the absolute prerequisits for this is that more accurate measurement of VFTO. This describes capacitive voltage measuring methods for high voltage steep-footed oscillating waves using capacitive coupling principle and their systems including source and load impedances. Time domain response of unit step and its frequency characteristics are also investigated.

  • Recently, the construction of gas insulated substation(GIS)s has been increased in Korea. But, the whole quantity of the VTs which were used in GIS has been imported. Under the circumstance that $SF_6$ gas power apparatus are being developed up to 800kV rating in Korea, the development of EHV $SF_6$ gas VT is essential for localizing the power apparatus. As for EHV VT, destructive ferroresonance can be generated due to the combination of capacitiances between poles of circuit breaker, ground capacitance of bus and nonlinear excitation property of VT core. But the theoretical analysis about ferroresonance has not been fully achieved in Korea. Therefore, in this paper the authors would like to contribute for localizing EHV $SF_6$ gas VT by developing the diagram of ferroresonance zone according to the parameters of the circuit and the saturable reactor.

Computer Aided Identification of Inter-Layer Faults in Gas Insulated Capacitively Graded Bushing during Switching

  • In a Gas Insulated Substation (GIS), Very Fast Transients (VFTs) are generated mainly due to switching operations. These transients may cause internal faults, i.e., layer-to-layer faults in a capacitively graded bushing as it is one of the most important terminal equipment for GIS. The healthiness of the bushing is generally verified by measuring its leakage current. However, the change in current magnitude/pattern is only marginal for different types of fault conditions. Leakage current monitoring (LCM) systems generate large amounts of data and computer aided interpretation of defects may be of great assistance when analyzing this data. In view of the above, ANN techniques have been used in this study for identification of these minor faults. A single layer perceptron network, a two layer feed-forward back propagation network and cascade correlation (CC) network models are used to identify interlayer faults in the bushing. The effectiveness of the CC network over perceptron and back propagation networks in identification of a fault has been analysed as part of the paper.

  • The modern society longing for the convenience of up-to-date technology, there are attempts of miniaturization and high reliance of power equipments in the effectiveness aspect of urban area's usage of space while requiring more electrical energy than now. Consequently, paper used to the Neral Network for a forcasting conservation system. A neral network is powerful asta modeling tool that is able to capture and represent complex input/output relationships. The true power and advantage of neral networks lies in their ability to learn these relationships directly from the data being modeled. Traditional linear models are simply inadequate when it comes to modeling data that contains non-linear characteristics. Form results of this study, the Neral Network is will play an important role for insulation diagnosis system of real site GIS and power eqipment using $SF_6$ gas.

  • 초전도전력기기 실계통 적용 시범사업이 정부지원으로 한국전력이 주관하고 제작업체가 참여하는 방법으로 이천변전소에서 진행되고 있다. 이천변전소는 무인변전소로 구내에는 전자제어 및 계전기 등 전기적 잡음에 민감한 설비의 설치가 증가하고 있다. 따라서 개폐장치의 스위칭 동작, 뇌격의 침입, 기존 GIS대신 친환경 고체 절연 개폐장치(SIS)의 사용으로 변전설비 보호를 위한 접지설계가 중요하며, 고체절연개폐장치(SIS)의 상도체와 외함사이에 유도결합에 의해 발생하는 이상전압 등 변전소 구내외에서 발생하는 써지의 접지망 유입에 의한 접지도체의 전위상승이나 유도전압에 대한 대책이 필요하고, 특히 초전도 전력기기의 안정적인 운영을 위한 기술적인 접지망 분석 및 설계가 요구되고 있다.

여러 종류의 에폭시/이종무기물 혼합 콤포지트의 전기적 교류 절연파괴 특성 (Electrical AC Insulation Breakdown Characteristics of Various Epoxy / Heterogeneous Inorganic Mixed Composite)

  • In this study, 20 types of samples were prepared by mixing different kinds of inorganic materials to develop insulation materials for epoxy - based GIS substation equipment used under high voltage environmentally friendly insulation gas. One of the electrical characteristics, AC insulation breakdown experiment was performed. As mixing ratio of mixed heterogeneous inorganic materials, the dielectric breakdown strength was increased with increasing filler ratio of micro silica, micro silica : micro Alumina, 1:9, 3:7, 5:5, 7:3, 9:1, and decreased as the filling amount of micro alumina increased. The AC insulation breakdown characteristics were the best when the composition ratio was 9:1. The higher the content of silica, the better the interfacial properties, and the larger the alumina content ratio, the worse the interfacial properties.

  • This paper describes the analysis results on the PT ferroresonance at 154 kV GIS (gas Insulated substation by EMTP(Electro- magnetic Transient Program). We had simulated the PT ferroresonance between a potential transformer(PT) and an open circuit breaker's grading capacitance. The ferroresonance leads to very large power frequency overvoltages on PT bus and subsequent insulation failure. The large power can be supplied to the PT by the high voltage on the opened circuit due to the grading capacitance and equivalent capacitance of the buses during the ferroresonance. The damping circuit connected on the secondary winding were considered in the model. The actual countermeasure include a saturable inductor and a resistor series-mounted, but the 2 ohms of damping resistance was used in the computationl model.

  • This paper proposes an insulation coordination and surge arrester design for superconducting power system with SFCL(Superconducting Fault Current Limiter) in Icheon substation. In the aspect of the economic analysis, since the superconducting devices are very expensive, the insulation coordination to prevent the dielectric breakdown caused by the lightning surge should be considered carefully. In this paper, the insulation coordination for real grid including SFCL and the design of the protection devices against lightning surge is verified using PSCAD/EM TDC.

  • 가상현실(VR)을 구현할 수 있는 하드웨어의 성능이 빠르게 향상됨에 따라 다양한 분야에서 가상현실(VR) 기술을 이용하여 콘텐츠를 개발하고 있다. 특히 가상현실(VR) 콘텐츠는 현실에서 재현하기 어렵거나 비용이 많이 드는 의료 및 안전 분야에서 활발히 개발되고 있으나 가상현실(VR) 교육콘텐츠에 대한 교육효과에 대한 조사 및 연구는 상대적으로 미흡한 상태이다. 하여 본 논문에서는 한국전력공사와 (주)포미트에서 개발한 "GIS 설비 정밀점검 교육 콘텐츠"를 체험한 사람들을 대상으로 진행한 설문조사 결과를 통해 발전 분야에서 가상현실(VR) 교육콘텐츠의 활용성과 교육콘텐츠의 효용성에 대해 살펴보았다.

  • 765kV substations which will be the core installation of the bulk power transmission system in Korea for the upcoming $21^{st}$ century, were designed of outdoor full GIS type to minimize required area. As principal equipment, main transformers of 2,000 MVA per bank and 50kA 8,000A gas insulated switchgears of up-to-date technology were adopted in designing substations to transmit bulk power of 10GW. Dual digital protective relay systems and distributed indication and control systems with fiber optic LAN were used.
