  • This study aims at the analysis of the geomorphological instantaneous unit hydrograph model (GIS-GIUH) with geographic information system for the rainfall-runoff analysis of watershed which is ungaged or doesn't have sufficient hydrologic data. The rainfall-runoff analysis was performed in Wi stream(Dongkok, Koro, Miseung, Byeungchun, Hyoreung, Museung) which is a representative experimental river basin of IHP. In the process of analysis of the GIUH model, developed GIS-GIUH model and Rosso-GIUH model were applied the study basin and computed hydrographs by these models were compared with observed hydrograph. The GiS-GIUH model shows more closely to the observed hydrograph than Rosso-GIUH model in the peak discharge of the hydrograph. For the development of the GIS-GIUH model, Gamma function factor N was given by N=3.25( $R_{B}$/ $R_{A}$)$^{0.126}$ $R_{L}$$^{-0.055}$, which is the relation of the watershed geomorphological factor, K was also obtained as K=1.50( $R_{A}$/( $R_{B}$. $R_{L}$))/$^{0.10}$.(( $L_{{\Omega}}$+ $L_{{\Omega}-1}$)/V)$^{0.37}$. As the results of analysis, it was found that GIS-GIUH model can be applied to an ungaged watersheds.eds.

  • Many works on the temperature distribution of power apparatus have usually done by coupled magneto-thermal analysis. Such a method can not consider the internal gas or oil flow in the power apparatus such as gas insulated switchgear, GIS bus bar, and power transformer. Moreover it can not show the internal temperature distribution of the power apparatus exactly. This paper proposes a coupled magneto-thermal-flow analysis considering Navier-Stokes equations. The convection heat transfer coefficient is calculated analytically by applying Nusselt number for natural convection and is applied to the boundary condition of proposed method. Temperature distribution of the GIS bus bar model considering thermal flow is obtained by the proposed method and shows good agreement with the experimental data.

  • The landslide risk assessment process consists of hazard risk assessment and vulnerability analysis. landslide hazard risk is location dependent. Therefore, maps and spatial technologies such as GIS are very important components of the risk assessment process. This paper discusses the advantages of using GIS technology in the risk assessment process and illustrates the benefits through case studies of live projects undertaken. The goal of this study is to generate a map of landslide vulnerability map by analysis of static natural factors with GIS. A simple and efficient algorithm is proposed to generate a landslide potentialities map from DEM and existing maps. The categories of controlling factors for landslides, aspect of slope, soil, vegetation are defined. The weight values for landslide potentialities are calculated from AHP method. Slope and slope-direction are extracted from DEM, and soil informations are extracted from digital soil map. Also, vegetation informations are extracted from digital vegetation map. Finally, as overlaying, landslide potentialities map is made out, and it is verified with landslide place.

  • In this study, several basic data for road design and GIS data were used for selecting the optimized road alignment database system. The cut and fill volumes were compared with existing manual road design method through the analysis and data application in this database system. We solved and estimated objective, economic, environmental and technical problems caused in road construction comparing existing manual method with the road alignment which was selected in GIS automatically. Also, we performed three dimensional simulation with the existing road design program and simulation of virtual reality through Virtual GIS. This study showed the method in selecting the optimized road alignment through the analysis and comparison of the selected road alignment. The goal of this study is comparison and analysis of definite cut and fill volume and environmental problem after the road construction through analyzing and comparing the social, economic, technical and environmental aspect in the road alignments with various statistic data.

  • GIS technique is applied to the analysis of ambient air quality information. For this study, the TMS-monitored air quality information was imported with the geographical information of the TMS stations in Capital Area. It is found that currently available GIS technique has a great extend of potential for air quality management. From the analysis of air quality information, the GIS application demonstrates the poor air quality in the central Capital Area and the it is improved as it travels down to the suburb area. The ambient air quality is also proven to be highly influenced by the ozone concentration in a mid-summer day.

  • Constructing a geo-spatial database of Graphic Information Systems(GIS) in various applications is suffering from the difficulty of data acquisition, which is labor-intensive and time consuming. In order to provide the spatial data rapidly and accurately, 4S-Van, a prototype mobile mapping system, has been developed. This paper presents a novel approach for an analysis for Mobile Mapping Systems. Furthermore, we discuss the accuracy of measurements using images acquired from the 4S-Van. The first part of this paper introduces accuracies of other mobile mapping systems. Then, we describe main features of the 4S-Van and our proposed method for an analysis accuracies, which can be applicable to other mobile mapping systems. The last part of paper concludes with a summary and our suggestions for implementation of mobile mapping system.

  • Currently Spatial Data is collected and processed in various methods, and its usability is very high. However, the existing Spatial Data analysis Software usually requires professional knowledge in the collection, refinement, and application of spatial Date, making it difficult to access and apply it. Therefore, this study established a new WebGIS platform with improved accessibility and usability to solve these problems. This platform supports various services such as master map sharing, spatial data generation, automatic coordinate system conversion, WMS issuance, grid generation, and grid analysis. These services increase operational convenience, such as simplifying repetitive tasks and automatically expressing text files. While it is believed that non-experts can easily and conveniently because of them to simplify and express the results. In addition, it is judged to have high accuracy and reliability compared to the analysis results using the existing Open Source-based GIS software.

  • The principle of the ultra-high frequency (UHF) method to detect partial discharge(PD) in GIS is to measure the UHF electromagnetic waves excited by PD pulses. Such electromagnetic waves propagate along the GIS busbar in the TEM-mode, TE-mode, TM-mode. And the coaxial busbar of the GIS acts as a waveguide in which the UHF electromagnetic waves travel. This paper was studied the analysis on damping characteristic of electromagnetic waves excited by PD in GIS and presented the method to yield the cutoff frequency for determine the minimum band of sensor that detect the PD pulse.

  • Recently, because GIS equipment has problems on confidence according to long-time usage, development of diagnosis technique has been importantly recognized. Therefore. measurement and analysis of PD has been generally used much equipment of GIS. But, in case of measurement of PD at field, real trouble signals are difficult to classify noise. Accordingly, a variety of trouble conditions for DS were simulated, and detected signals were analyzed by the application of electrical and mechanical methods. For this analysis, detected signals were accumulated according to phase-magnitude with the application of Induction sensor, and then we analyzed the characteristics. For the simulation experiment, we made DS for 170kV GIS and analyzed the characteristics of detected singals with the application of neural network algorithm.

  • Although there have been many researches to construct a database of water distribution networks using GIS, most of them were not linked with an model for the analysis of pipe networks because it is difficult to make spatial data about complex water distribution networks for building a detail model. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the method based on GIS to build geographical data for design of water distribution pipeline systems. In this study, an innovated design support technique using GIS is proposed for a hydraulic analysis model of water distribution networks. With the function of spatial analysis in GIS system, the results from a pipe network model are used to analyze the suitability of the location of pipeline network, the spatial suitability comprised the analysis of the degree of pipe age, the altitude distribution of water pressure, and the water supply system for the customer.
