An study on selecting the restricted area of timber harvesting using Geographic Information Systems (GIS를 이용한 대채제한지(代採制限地) 선정(選定)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • This paper studies the methods to support decision making for forest management Using GIS. Specially, most important is selecting restrict area to timber harvest suitable on scheduling its harvest in experimental forest of kangwon national university. Because timber harvesting causes water pollution, land sliding and soil erosion, it is necessary to restrict area to be harvest. The study is analyzed with Buffering modules and overlay modules which are an function of Arcinfo 7.1. As a result, restricted area is 52.64ha in total area. Of which Hardwood stand 13.21ha, pinus Pinus koraiensis stand 26.44ha, Larix leptolepis stand 12.38ha and Pinus rigida stand 0.61ha.

Development of 3-D GIS based Expression System for Utilization of Submarine Mineral Resource Exploration Data (해저자원 탐사자료의 효율적인 활용을 위한 3차원 GIS 기반의 표출 시스템 설계 및 구축)

  • Recently, interest of submarine mineral resources has been increasing from the depletion of land resources around the world and many countries are involving in submarine mineral resource exploration work. South Korea is also in progress of mineral exploration and relevant study to ensure the submarine mineral resources from around the Korean Peninsula. As a result, the submarine mineral resource exploration data have been increasing annually. A database and 2D GIS-based system have been constructed for the management of the data. However, submarine mineral resource exploration data is explored and created on the sea-bed. Consequently, the visual confirmation of the water levels and marine landform is important for high dimension analysis. Therefore, the major aims of this study are to collect marine landform data from around the Korean Peninsula and to develop 3 dimension GIS based system that is linked to the submarine mineral resource exploration data. In detail, marine landform data were acquired for the Korean Peninsula and they were interpolated into raster file format. The raster file was then processed to be easily used and was entered into an Oracle database. Based on this database, 3D expression and overlap function between marine landform data and submarine mineral resource exploration data were designed using ArcScene offered by the ESRI. After design, 3D GIS based expression system was developed. Confirmations of locations and changes in the submarine mineral resource exploration data based on 3D GIS are enabled to support the efficient application of the proposed system. It is expected that this system will be highly useful for estimating the reserves of mineral resources and for providing valuable information for economic evaluations.

Utilizing Geographic Information System for Analyzing Land Use Suitability in a Urban Area - A Case Study of Kumi City - (도시지역의 토지이용 적지분석을 위한 지리정보시스템의 이용 - 구미시를 중심으로 -)

  • This study addresses the topic of suitability analysis for helping with land use planning, which is one of important decision-making in urban planning, utilizing geographic information system. Covering the Kumi City before integrating with neighbor county, the site suitabilities for land uses, which are categorized into residential, commercial, industrial and green, were analyzed using the overlay method based upon the database constructed for this study. In the process, assessment criteria which include environmental factors and relative weights were determined and also the land use/cover map and NDVI map which were generated through satellite image processing were included in the database. The suitability maps by four function spaces were derived according to the grade and compared with the present land use state and the land use concept map of urban master plan. For more accurate analysis, practical developing plan, land price data, soil data should be included. Also if the demand estimation data by each land use had been added, the reliability of location allocation could have been raised.

  • Needs about safety of residents are important in urbanized society, elderly and small-size family. People are looking for safety information system and device of CPTED. That is, Needs and Installations of CCTV increased steadily. But, scientific analysis about validity, systematic plan and location of security CCTV is nonexistent. It is simply put these devised in more demanded areas. It has limits to look for safety of residents by increasing density of CCTVs. One of the characteristics of crime is clustering and stong interconnectivity. So, exploratory spatial data of crime is geo-coded using 2 years data and carried out cluster analysis and space statistical analysis through GIS space analysis by dividing 18 variables into social economy, urban space, crime prevention facility and crime occurrence index. The result of analysis shows cluster of 5 major crimes, theft, violence and sexual violence by Nearest Neighbor distance analysis and Ripley's K function. It also shows strong crime interconnectivity through criminal correlation analysis. In case of finding criminal cluster, you can find criminal hotspot. So, in this study I found concept of hotspot and considered technique about selection of hotspot. And then, selected hotspot about 5 major crimes, theft, violence and sexual violence through Nearest Neighbor Hierarchical Spatial Clustering.

A Spatial Decision Support System for Establishing Urban Ecological Network ; Based on the Landscape Ecology Theory (도시 생태네트워크 설정을 위한 공간의사결정지원체계에 관한 연구 ; 경관생태학 이론을 기반으로)

  • As a result of the current trend towards promoting conservation of the ecosystem, there have been various studies conducted to determine ways to establish an ecological network. The development of analytical methods and an environmental database of GIS has made the creation of this network more efficient. This study focuses on the development of an urban spatial decision support system based on 'Landscape Ecology Theory'. The spatial decision support system suggested in this study consists of four stages. First, landscape patch for the core areas, which are major structures of the ecological network, was determined using the GIS overlay method. Second, a forest habitat was investigated to determine connectivity assessment. Using the gravity model, connectivity assessment at the habitat forest was conducted to select the needed connecting area. Third, the most suitable corridor routes for the eco-network were presented using the least-cost path analysis. Finally, a brief investigation was conducted to determine the conflict areas between the study result and landuse. The results of this study can be applied to urban green network planning. Moreover, the method developed in this study can be utilized to control urban sprawl, promote biodiversity.

Analysis on a Location Compatibility of Forest Fire Detection Facilities according to Classification of Forest Fire Hazard Regions Types in Samcheok Area (삼척지역 산불위험지 구분에 따른 감시시설의 위치 적합성에 관한 연구)

  • This study analyzed on the area of Samcheok, Kangwondo about forest fire alarming area and enlargement of the area. Then, visible area by unattended watching camera and watchtower for forest fire which were run by Samcheok was cross-checked with geographic information system, and it ould be whether effective on watching the area here the forest fire risk was high enough and also it could be expanded to larger forest fire. The result of study, the visible area by watching facilities only holds for 13.4% of the whole forest fire alarming area, but the forest fire can be observed even though it is occurred in small valley because of smoke and all the forest fire have been occurred in daytime. Therefore, it can be determined that watching area will be extended around 50.3% while the observation radii of watching facilities raise by 4km. However, Samcheok has much greater area of mountain area in compared to any other cities or counties, watching facilities should be installed and run additionally for extinguishing the forest fire from the beginning.

A Study on the Site Selection of Public Libraries Using Analytic Hierarchy Process Technique and Geographic Information System (계층분석법과 지리정보시스템을 이용한 공공도서관 입지선정에 관한 연구)

  • This study proposes a new site selection model which reflects integrated opinions of several groups and identifies sites through objectivity of selection procedure. The proposed model consists of two parts, Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) and Geographic Information(GIS). This model was applied to Seocho-gu in Seoul. First, library site selection criteria were determined through literature study. Hierarchical relationship based on the questionnaire was determined and refined to be suited to Seocho-gu case. A survey was conducted with three groups, namely, library users, librarians, and public worker. A few inconsistent answers to the survey questionnaire were excluded and the relative importance of each criterion was measured. Next, an overlay method was used and the relative importance was used as a weight for selecting candidates. This process excluded the areas where a library was unable to be built, for example, rivers, military areas, other restricted areas by law, etc. and resulted in seventy-five sites. Five groups of candidates were identified according to the similarity of criteria. Finally, four groups, after eliminating one lowly fitted group, were determined.

  • 현재 시행 중인 승용차 RFID 요일제는 제한적인 설치장소와 RFID 설치시 많은 비용이 소비된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존의 RFID 승용차 요일제 방식과 달리 효율성을 높이고 비용을 절감할수 있는 BMS(BUS Management System)를 활용한 버스 RFID system에 관한 방안을 제안한다. 제안하는 방안은 버스 RFID system은 대구시의 시내 버스 뒤편에 양쪽 상단에 RFID 안테나를 설치하여 대구시의 주요 도로를 운행 하며 승용차 요일제를 미준수 여부를 파악하는 것이다. 기존의 고정형 RFID는 설치 위치를 우회 할수 있지만 버스 RFID는 항상 이동하며 감지 하기때문에 차량의 우회에 따른 미확인 경우를 줄일 수 있다. 또한, BMS 활용으로 설치비용을 절감하여 비용대비 효율성을 제고할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 구체적인 방안 마련을 위하여 주요도로 버스노선도 파악, 중첩지점 그리고 기존의 승용차 요일제 시스템과 비교 분석을 하여 성능 평가들 실시하는 것에 주안점을 두고 연구를 수행하였다.

  • 지리정보시스템(GIS)에서 사용하는 지도는 여러 가지 목적의 응용 프로그램이나 지도의 축척등에 의해 서 다양하게 나타난다. 본 논문은 지리정보 시스템에 사용되는 지도중에서 관광안내지도를 대상으로 최적의 레이블링과 아이콘 표시방법을 통하여 관광지도 정보를 최적화하여 표현하기 위한 논문이다. 이를 위하여 서울시내의 여러 가지 관광버스의 노선도를 분석하여 이를 최적화된 방법으로 배치하고 표현하는 위한 방법을 연구하였다. 복잡한 버스의 노선은 주요 시설물을 중심으로 선분 간략화 알고리즘을 통하여 간략화 하였으며 간략화된 노선에서 중첩되는 레이블은 레이블 재배치 알고리즘을 이용하여 재배열하였다. 이러한 방법을 통하여 지리정보 데이터베이스로부터 자동화된 방식으로 구조화된 지도를 손쉽게 생성하는 방법을 제시한다.

Assessment of Regional Groundwater Pollution Hazard using Potential Pollutant of Pohang Area (잠재오염원을 이용한 포항지역의 광역적 지하수 오염 위험성 평가)

  • The aim of the study is to assess groundwater pollution hazard of Pohang city using the DRASTIC system developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). Hydrogeological spatial databases of the system include information on depth to groundwater, net recharge, aquifer media, soil media, topographic slope, hydraulic conductivity, lineament and potential pollution source. With GIS based on these hydrogeological databases and the DRASTIC system, the regional groundwater vulnerability of the study area was assessed. Then the vulnerability was overlaid with potential pollution source and the regional groundwater pollution hazard was assessed by administrative district. From the results of the study, areas where need the counter plan for groundwater pollution and where should be managed for the groundwater pollution, are identified.
