  • In 1995 of May, the Ministry of Construction and Transportation (NOCT) developed the First Nation-wide Master Plan of GIS. It is set up in response to an increasing and various demands on spatial informations. Until now, a set of diverse projects related to spatial information have been proposed and executed. However, cost-benefit analysis of investment and decision making for alternatives have not been carried out appropriately because scientific evaluations for obtaining efficiency and economical validity of investment have been deficient. Optimum decision making for projects based on itemized priority order using effect or cost of proposed alternative plan is a fundamental expedient for demonstration of propriety of projects and enhancement of efficiency of investment. From such understanding, this paper applied the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) technique to the cost required to construct a GIS so that analyze the weight of each cost factor.

  • 홍수범람지도는 치수 대책 수립 등 다양한 목적으로 국내 주요하천에서 작성되고 있으며 범람 구역의 정확도를 높이기 위한 노력이 다각도로 수행되고 있다. 최근, 공간적으로 매우 정밀한 LiDAR 측량 성과를 기반한 DEM을 이용하거나 2차원 혹은 3차원 수치모델링을 적용하여 범람지도의 정확성 및 적용성이 획기적으로 개선되고 있다. 또한, 범람구역의 불확도에 관련된 연구도 다수 수행되고 있다. 그러나, 이러한 성과는 정밀 DEM 자료가 가용하거나 치수의 중요도가 높은 국가하천 지역에 국한되고 있으며 중소하천을 포함한 국가 전체 홍수지도 작성은 여전히 제한적으로 수행되고 있다. 중소하천의 경우, 공간해상도 및 정확도가 낮은 DEM과 1차원 모델링에 기반하여 범람지도의 신뢰도가 여전히 낮은 실정이다. 또한, 홍수지도 작성 기법은 비교적 잘 알려진 상황이나 작성 과정은 상당한 시간이 필요한 작업으로 지도 작성 시 실무에서 많은 비용과 시간이 소요되고 있어, 결과적으로 중소하천을 포괄한 홍수범람지도 작성에 장애요인으로 작용하고 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 기존 하천기본계획에서 확보될 수 있는 하도단면 측량 등 표고 측량 성과를 활용하여 공간 해상도가 상대적으로 낮은 DEM을 정교화 및 상세화할 수 있는 개선기법 및 복잡한 범람지도 작성과정을 자동화하여 작성 소요시간을 현저히 줄일 수 있도록 하는 GIS 기반의 홍수범람지도 작성 자동화 툴을 개발하였다. 개발된 GIS 기반의 자동화 툴은 AIM(Automated Inundation Mapping tool)로 명명되었으며 ESRI사의 ArcObjects를 활용하여 개발되어 ArcGIS 기반으로 운영되며 현재 HEC-RAS 홍수위 자료가 입력자료로 작동되도록 설계되었다. 개선된 DEM과 AIM은 시범적으로 제주도 한천 하류에 적용되었으며 2007년 태풍 나리 시 발생한 범람흔적도와 비교했을 때 기존 방식에 비해 범람지도의 정확도와 작성시간(10초 가량 소요)이 상당부분 개선되었다.

Application of GIS for Runoff Simulation in Ungaged Basin(I): Selection of Soil Map and Landuse Map (미계측 유역의 유출모의를 위한 지리정보시스템의 응용(I) : 토양도 및 토지이용도의 선정)

  • Hydrology-based topographical informations generated by GIS techniques could be changed according to the selection of base map, algorithm of extraction, and so on. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the variation of SCS CN extracted by GIS technique and to propose the effective strategy for applying GIS to the rainfall-runoff simulation in ungaged basin. For experimental implementation, GIS spatial data, such as reconnaissance soil map, detailed interpretative soil map, landuse planning map and remotely sensed data(Landsat TM), were collected and generated to calculate the amount of effective rainfall in Pyungchang river basin. In applying SCS Runoff Curve Number to the test basin, the hydrological attribute data were analyzed. In addition, the characteristics of runoff responses according to the selection of GIS spatial data for SCS CN were reviewed. This study shows the applicability of GIS techniques to runoff simulation in ungaged basin by comparing with the measured flood hydrograph. It has been found that the detained interpretative soil map and remote sensing data are appropriate for calculating of SCS CN.

  • In this paper, we present WebGIS techniques that can acquire more information from users who offered information and location of region's crops. So that it can be search the information based on Ontology defining Metadata for understand and control more accurately. And this paper shows how to implement about prototype of crops information system for obtaining information of location. Our object is to offer results Service form search, to analyze question of user and to show the exact geographic information about question of user. So this paper can be provide convenience to users that can be show Semantic WebGIS system.

  • Recently, GIS has been increasing its applicability in water resource field. The GIS based modeling process can generally be used for extracting channel network and watershed delineation. Through the overlay analysis, the extracted channel network can be overlayed with topographic and landuse maps to generate the input files for running a hydrologic model. This lead to consider GIS as a tool which can include subjective factors of the model designers in hydrologic analysis. Therefore, this study has compared GIS based HEC-GEOHMS with the classical approach. In general, both approaches have similar results, however, HEC-GROHMS has showed some errors. Based on the results, a GIS based approach could be more effective method with better credibility to obtain input parameters from topographic information as subsequent efforts were made to lessen the errors.

Development of Spatial Statistical Downscaling Method for KMA-RCM by Using GIS (GIS를 활용한 KMA-RCM의 규모 상세화 기법 개발 및 검증)

  • The aim of this study is to develop future climate scenario by downscaling the regional climate model (RCM) from global climate model (GCM) based on IPCC A1B scenario. To this end, the study first resampled the KMA-RCM(Korea meteorological administration-regional climate model) from spatial resolution of 27km to 1km. Second, observed climatic data of temperature and rainfall through 1971-2000 were processed to reflect the temperature lapse rate with respect to the altitude of each meteorological observation station. To optimize the downscaled results, Co-kriging was used to calculate temperature lapse-rate; and IDW was used to calculate rainfall lapse rate. Fourth, to verify results of the study we performed correlation analysis between future climate change projection data and observation data through the years 2001-2010. In this study the past climate data (1971-2000), future climate change scenarios(A1B), KMA-RCM(Korea meteorological administration-regional climate model) results and the 1km DEM were used. The research area is entire South Korea and the study period is from 1971 to 2100. Monthly mean temperatures and rainfall with spatial resolution of 1km * 1km were produced as a result of research. Annual average temperature and precipitation had increased by $1.39^{\circ}C$ and 271.23mm during 1971 to 2100. The development of downscaling method using GIS and verification with observed data could reduce the uncertainty of future climate change projection.

S-XML Transformation Method for Efficient Distribution of Spatial Information on u-GIS Environment (u-GIS 환경에서 효율적인 공간 정보 유통을 위한 S-XML 변환 기법)

  • In u-GIS environment, we collect spatial data needed through sensor network and provide them with information real-time processed or stored. When information through Internet is requested on Web based applications, it is transmitted in XML. Especially, when requested information includes spatial data, GML, S-XML, and other document that can process spatial data are used. In this processing, real-time stream data processed in DSMS is transformed to S-XML document type and spatial information service based on web receive S-XML document through Internet. Because most of spatial application service use existing spatial DBMS as a storage system, The data used in S-XML and SDBMS needs transformation between themselves. In this paper, we propose S-XML a transformation method using caching of spatial data. The proposed method caches the spatial data part of S-XML to transform S-XML and relational spatial database for providing spatial data efficiently and it transforms cached data without additional transformation cost when a transformation between data in the same region is required. Through proposed method, we show that it reduced the cost of transformation between S-XML documents and spatial information services based on web to provide spatial information in u-GIS environment and increased the performance of query processing through performance evaluation.

An Application of GIS Technique to Analyze the Location of Fastfood Stores : The Case of Kangnam-Gu , Seoul (GIS 기법을 활용한 패스트푸드점의 입지분석에 관한 연구 - 서울시 강남구를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to extract the main locational factors to affect the location of fastfood stores in Kangnam -Gu, Seoul by using Geographic Information Systems. The Franchise system, which came to be employed in full scale since 1990, now enjoying the booming period, especially fast food industry. The procedure of this research has four steps. First, the spatial distribution of fastfood chain stores in Seoul is analyzed by the land use and road map. Second, the spatial variations of fastfood stores in dong districts of Seoul is explained by multiple regression analysis. Third, the main locational factors to affect the location of fast food stores in Kangnam -Gu are extracted by demand and supply sides using GIS technologies. Finally, the potentiallocational zones where are selected by extracted locational factors are compared with the actual distribution of f astf ood stores in Kangnam - Gu. In terms of demand side, the main locational factors include commercial and service facilities, sub¬ways and bus stops which have a lot of pedestrians, and large apartment districts that have high popu¬lation densities. In terms of supply sides, the main locational factors include land use types and land value, accessibility. After fast food chain stores of Kangnam -Gu are overlaid final potentiallocational zones extracted by demand and supply sides of locational factors, it can be identified that over 80 % of fastfood stores are located in the potentiallocational zone. In conclusion, this study shows that spatial analysis functions may potentially be improved using GIS technologies. However there are still difficulties for the locational analysis for service industries to col¬lect appropriate data in terms of computerized base maps as well as consumer behavior and store characteristics itself.

  • Recently, 2D GIS technology is applied for urban facility management. However, urban facilities are located in 3D space and the information loss is occurring during data abstraction from 3D urban facility to 2D object. Also, the number of urban facilities is increasing steadily and most of urban facilities are located in underground space in the city. Therefore 2D urban facility management system has a limitation on visualization and management for a large number of urban facilities. In this paper, a multi-dimensions urban facility management system based on multi-texture technology is proposed. The proposed system reduces the information loss and improves the readability of information by visualizing urban facilities on 3D virtual space. A multi-texturing technology is applied for integrating of 2D vector data and 3D raster data, and a multi-thread technology is used for improving speed and performance of the system. The proposed technology can be used as a guideline for urban facility monitoring as providing visual information of a facility status with 3D image and facility data.

The Visual Distribution Map Based on the Geographic Information System for Ocular Health State (지리정보체계를 이용한 눈 건강수준의 시각적 분포도)

  • Purpose: This study utilized the Geographic Information System (GIS) which is one of the representative methods for describing visual distribution, to show the distribution of visions of middle and high school students in 16 cities or provinces in Korea. Method: The data of National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) were analysed from 2009 to 2011 and designed a population-based cross-sectional study. The subjects were total 1,049 students at the age of 13 to 18 and uncorrected vision was provided. Male subjects were 549 (52.3%) and female subjects were 500 (47.7%). Subjects were divided into 16 cities or provinces and average vision of regions were analysed. the differentials of vision among the regions were analysed by as a spatial analysis method. Results: The average uncorrected vision were significant difference by sex (p=0.001). However male and female student groups' average vision indicated no statistically significant difference by region in those 16 cities and provinces. In order to show the differentials of middle and high school students' vision by region with a visual distribution method, the GIS was utilized for mapping. Conclusions: The differentials of vision among regions by GIS provide a visually effective distribution map.
