The aim of the present study is to develop an elemental approach based on the differential quadrature method for free vibration analysis of cracked thin plate structures. For this purpose, the equations of motion are established using the classical plate theory. The well-known Generalized Differential Quadrature Method (GDQM) is utilized to discretize the governing equations on each computational subdomain or element. In this method, the differential terms of a quantity field at a specific computational point should be expressed in a series form of the related quantity at all other sampling points along the domain. However, the existence of any geometric discontinuity, such as a crack, in a computational domain causes some problems in the calculation of differential terms. In order to resolve this problem, the multi-block or elemental strategy is implemented to divide such geometry into several subdomains. By constructing the appropriate continuity conditions at each interface between adjacent elements and a crack tip, the whole discretized governing equations of the structure can be established. Therefore, the free vibration analysis of a cracked thin plate will be provided via the achieved eigenvalue problem. The obtained results show a good agreement in comparison with those found by finite element method.

The nonlinear buckling response of nano composite anti-symmetric functionally graded polymeric microplate reinforced by single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) rested on orthotropic elastomeric foundation with temperature dependent properties is investigated. For the carbon-nanotube reinforced composite (CNTRC) microplate, a uniform distribution (UD) and four types of functionally graded (FG) distribution are considered. Based on orthotropic Mindlin plate theory, von Karman geometric nonlinearity and Hamilton's principle, the governing equations are derived. Generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM) is employed to calculate the non-linear buckling response of the plate. Effects of FG distribution type, elastomeric foundation, aspect ratio (thickness to width ratio), boundary condition, orientation of foundation orthotropy and temperature are considered. The results are validated. It is found that the critical buckling load without elastic medium is significantly lower than considering Winkler and Pasternak medium.
In the present study, for first time the size dependent vibration behavior of a rotating functionally graded (FG) Timoshenko nanobeam based on Eringen's nonlocal theory is investigated. It is assumed that the physical and mechanical properties of the FG nanobeam are varying along the thickness based on a power law equation. The governing equations are determined using Hamilton's principle and the generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM) is used to obtain the results for cantilever boundary conditions. The accuracy and validity of the results are shown through several numerical examples. In order to display the influence of size effect on first three natural frequencies due to change of some important nanobeam parameters such as material length scale, angular velocity and gradient index of FG material, several diagrams and tables are presented. The results of this article can be used in designing and optimizing elastic and rotary type nano-electro-mechanical systems (NEMS) like nano-motors and nano-robots including rotating parts.

The thermo-mechanical vibration behavior of two dimensional functionally graded (2D-FG) porous nanobeam is reported in this paper. The material properties of the nanobeam are variable along thickness and length of the nanobeam according to the power law function. The nanobeam is modeled within the framework of Timoshenko beam theory. Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory is used to develop the governing equations. Using the generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM) the governing equations are solved. The effect of porosity, temperature distribution, nonlocal value, L/h, FG power indexes along thickness and length and are investigated using parametric studies.
In the present computational approach, thermal buckling and frequency characteristics of a doubly curved laminated nanopanel with the aid of Two-Dimensional Generalized Differential Quadrature Method (2D-GDQM) and Nonlocal Strain Gradient Theory (NSGT) are investigated. Additionally, the temperature changes along the thickness direction nonlinearly. The novelty of the current study is in considering the effects of laminated composite and thermal in addition of size effect on frequency, thermal buckling, and dynamic deflections of the laminated nanopanel. The acquired numerical and analytical results are compared by each other to validate the results. The results demonstrate that some geometrical and physical parameters, have noticeable effects on the frequency and pre-thermal buckling behavior of the doubly curved open cylindrical laminated nanopanel. The favorable suggestion of this survey is that for designing the laminated nano-sized structure should pay special attention to size-dependent parameters because nonlocal and length scale parameters have an important role in the static and dynamic behaviors of the laminated nanopanel.
The nonlinear dynamic behavior of a nonuniform small-scale nonlocal beam is investigated in this work. The nanobeam is theoretically modeled using the nonlocal Eringen theory, as well as a few of Von-nonlinear Kármán's theories and the classical beam theory. The Hamilton principle extracts partial differential equations (PDE) of an axially functionally graded (AFG) nano-scale beam consisting of SUS304 and Si3N4 throughout its length, and an elastic Winkler-Pasternak substrate supports the tapered AFG nanobeam. The beam thickness is a function of beam length, and it constantly varies throughout the length of the beam. The numerical solution strategy employs an iteration methodology connected with the generalized differential quadratic method (GDQM) to calculate the nonlinear outcomes. The nonlinear numerical results are presented in detail to examine the impact of various parameters such as nonlinear amplitude, nonlocal parameter, the component of the elastic foundation, rate of cross-section change, and volume fraction parameter on the linear and nonlinear free vibration characteristics of AFG nanobeam.
The static analysis of spinning functionally graded (FG) nanotube on the basis of the nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT) is presented. The high-order beam theory is employed for mathematical modeling of the tube structures according to the Sinusoidal shear deformation beam theory. The energy conservation principle is operated to generate the equations. The centrifugal force is assumed along the tube length due to the rotating of the tube, moreover, the nanotube is made of functionally graded material (FGM) composed of ceramic and metal phases along the tube radius direction. The generalized differential quadratic method (GDQM) is utilized to solve the formulations. Finally, the numerical results are discussed in detail to examine the impact of different relevant parameters on the bending the buckling behavior of the rotating nanotube.
Using a combination of nonlocal Eringen as well as classical beam theories, this research explores the thermal buckling of a bidirectional functionally graded nanobeam. The formulations of the presented problem are acquired by means on conserved energy as well as nonlocal theory. The results are obtained via generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM). The mechanical properties of the generated material vary in both axial and lateral directions, two-dimensional functionally graded material (2D-FGM). In nanostructures, porosity gaps are seen as a flaw. Finally, the information gained is used to the creation of small-scale sensors, providing an outstanding overview of nanostructure production history.
In the current research, the thermal buckling characteristics of the bi-directional functionally graded nano-scale tapered beam on the basis of a couple of nonlocal Eringen and classical beam theories are scrutinized. The nonlocal governing equation and associated nonlocal boundary conditions are constructed using the conservation energy principle, and the resulting equations are solved using the generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM). The mechanical characteristics of the produced material are altered along both the beam length and thickness direction, indicating that it is a two-dimensional functionally graded material (2D-FGM). It is thought that the nanostructures are defective because to the presence of porosity voids. Finally, the obtained results are used to design small-scale sensors and make an excellent panorama of developing the production of nanostructures.
The present study tackles the problem of forced vibration of imperfect axially functionally graded shell structure with truncated conical geometry. The linear and nonlinear large-deflection of the structure are considered in the mathematical formulation using von-Kármán models. Modified coupled stress method and principle of minimum virtual work are employed in the modeling to obtain the final governing equations. In addition, formulations of classical elasticity theory are also presented. Different functions, including the linear, convex, and exponential cross-section shapes, are considered in the grading material modeling along the thickness direction. The grading properties of the material are a direct result of the porosity change in the thickness direction. Vibration responses of the structure are calculated using the semi-analytical method of a couple of homotopy perturbation methods (HPM) and the generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM). Contradicting effects of small-scale, porosity, and volume fraction parameters on the nonlinear amplitude, frequency ratio, dynamic deflection, resonance frequency, and natural frequency are observed for shell structure under various boundary conditions.
