For a given graph G we consider a set S(G) of all symmetric matrices A = [$a_{ij}$] whose nonzero entries are placed according to the location of the edges of the graph, i.e., for $i{\neq}j$, $a_{ij}{\neq}0$ if and only if vertex $i$ is adjacent to vertex $j$. The minimum rank mr(G) of the graph G is defined to be the smallest rank of a matrix in S(G). In general the computation of mr(G) is complicated, and so is that of the maximum multiplicity MaxMult(G) of an eigenvalue of a matrix in S(G) which is equal to $n$ - mr(G) where n is the number of vertices in G. However, for trees T, there is a recursive formula to compute MaxMult(T). In this note we show that this recursive formula for MaxMult(T) also computes the path cover number $p$(T) of the tree T. This gives an alternative proof of the interesting result, MaxMult(T) = $p$(T).
Dynamic Shear modulus (G) is one of the imfortant dynamic soil properties to estimate the response of soil to dynamic loading. Problems in engineering geo1ogy practice the require the knowledge of soil properties subjected to dynamic loadings include soil-structure interaction during earthquakes, bomb blasts, construction operations, and mining. Although the dynamic shear modulus (G) is a time-dependent property, G change with time is often neglected. In this study, the effect of duration of confinement and its affecting factors (previous stress and strain, particle size and sustained pressure, and plasticity index) on the low-amplitude shear modulus ($G_{max}$) of soils are reviewed, and some empirical correlations based on mean particle diameter and plasticity index are proposed.

The convergence behavior of the all-electron full-potential linearized augmented plane-wave (FLAPW) method with the explicit orthogonalization (XO) scheme is tested on ferromagnetic bulk body-centered-cubic Fe. Applying a commonly used criterion relating the plane-wave and angular momentum cutoffs, $l_{max}\;=\;R_{MT}K_{max}$, where $R_{MT}$ is the muffin-tin (MT) sphere radius and $K_{max}$ is the plane-wave cutoff for the basis - the total energy is converged and stable for $K_{max}R_{MT}$ = 10. The total energy convergence dependence on the star-function cutoff, $G_{max}$, is minimal and so a $G_{max}$ of 3$K_{max}$ or a large enough $G_{max}$ is a reasonable choice. We demonstrate that the convergence with respect to $l_{max}$ or a fixed large enough $G_{max}\;and\;K_{max}$ are independent, and that $K_{max}$ provides a better measure of the convergence than $R_{MT}K_{max}$. The dependence of the total energy on $R_{MT}$ is shown to be small if the core states are treated equivalently, and that the XO scheme is able to treat systems with significantly smaller $R_{MT}$ than the standard LAPW method. For converged systems, the calculated lattice parameter, bulk modulus, and magnetic moments are in excellent agreement with the experimental values.
Ondansetron is a potent, highly selective 5-hydroxytryptamin $e_3$(5-H $T_3$) receptor-antagonist, for the management of nausea and vomiting induced by cytotoxic chemotherapy and radiography, and the treatment of post-operative nausea and vomiting. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the bioequivalence of two ondansetron tablets, Zofran (Glaxo Smithcline Korea Ltd.) and Onfran (Korea United Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.), according to the guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). Eighteen normal male volunteers, 24.39$\pm$1.69 year in age and 69.00$\pm$6.74kg in body weight, were divided into two groups and a randomized 2${\times}$2 cross-over study was employed. After one tablet containing 8mg of ondansetron was orally administered, blood was taken at predetermined time intervals and the concentrations of ondansetron in plasma were determined using HPLC with UV detector. Pharmacokinetic parameters such as AVC, $C_{max}$ and $T_{max}$ were calculated and ANOVA test was utilized for the statistical analysis of the parameters. The results showed that the differences in AUC, $C_{max}$ and T max between two tablets were 5.83%, 5.75% and -5.71%, respectively when calculated against the Zofran, tablet. The powers (1-$\beta$) for AUC, $C_{max}$ and $T_{max}$ were above 90%, above 90% and below 60%, respectively. Minimum detectable differences($\Delta$) at alpha=0.1 and 1-$\beta$=0.8 were less than 20% (e.g., 12.74% and 11.78% for AUC and $C_{max}$ respectively). But minimum detectable differences($\Delta$) at alpha=0.1 and 1-$\beta$=0.8 for $T_{max}$ were more than 20% (e.g., 34.22%). The 90% confidence intervals were within $\pm$20% (e.g., -2.73∼14.39 and -2.16∼13.67 for AUC and $C_{max}$ respectively). But 90% confidence intervals for $T_{max}$ were not within $\pm$20% (e.g., -28.71∼17.28). Another ANOVA test was conducted for logarithmically transformed AUC and $C_{max}$. These results showed that there are no significant difference in AUC and $C_{max}$ between the two formulations: The differences between the formulations in these log transformed parameters were all for less than 20% (e.g., 5.83% and 5.75% for AUC and $C_{max}$ respectively). The 90% confidence intervals for the log transformed data were the acceptance range of log 0.8 to log 1.25 (e.g., log 0.99∼log 1.15 and log 0.98∼log 1.15 for AUC and $C_{max}$ respectively). The major parameters, AUC and $C_{max}$, met the criteria of KFDA for bioequivalence although $T_{max}$ did not meet the criteria of KFDA for bioequivalence, indicating that Onfran tablet is bioequivalent to Zofrm1 tablet.t is bioequivalent to Zofrm1 tablet.m1 tablet.m1 tablet.m1 tablet.
The use of sand-tire chip mixtures in construction industry is a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach that addresses both waste tire disposal and soil improvement needs. However, the addition of tire chip particles to natural soils decreases maximum shear modulus (Gmax), but increases compressibility, which can be potential drawbacks. This study examines the effect of overconsolidation stress history on the maximum shear modulus (Gmax) of rigid-soft mixtures with varying size ratios (SR) and tire chip contents (TC) by measuring the wave velocity through a 1-D compression test during loading and unloading. The results demonstrate that the Gmax of tested mixtures in the normally consolidated state increased with increasing SR and decreasing TC. However, the tested mixtures with a smaller SR exhibited a greater increase in Gmax during unloading because of the active pore-filling behavior of the smaller rubber particles and the consequent increased connectivity between sand particles. The SR-dependent impact of the overconsolidation stress history on Gmax was verified using the ratio between the swelling and compression indices. Most importantly, this study reveals that the excessive settlement and lower Gmax of rigid-soft mixtures can be overcome by introducing an overconsolidated state in sand-tire chip mixtures with low TC.

The pharmacokinetics of erythromycin (EM) after oral administration was studied in the cultured olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus, using LC/MS/MS. After single- or multiple-dose administration of EM (50, 100, 200 mg/kg body weight and 50 mg/kg for 5 days) by oral route in olive flounder ($350{\pm}40g$, $22{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$), the concentration in the serum was determined at 1, 3, 6, 9, 24, 72, 120, 168, 264, 360, 504 and 720 h post-dose. The kinetic profile of absorption, distribution and elimination of EM in serum were analyzed fitting to a two-compartment model by WinNonlin program. The area under the concentration-time curve (AUC), maximum concentration ($C_{max}$), time for maximum concentration ($T_{max}$) following oral administration of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg b.w. and 50 mg for 5 days. EM was $165.3hr^*{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ ($C_{max}$, $34.63{\mu}g/m{\ell}$; $T_{max}$, 1.56 hr), $212.8hr^*{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ ($C_{max}$, $60.38{\mu}g/m{\ell}$; $T_{max}$, 3.99 hr), and $592.37hr^*{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ ($C_{max}$, $63.01{\mu}g/m{\ell}$; $T_{max}$, 4 hr), respectively. The results of this study related to dosage and ${\mu}{\cdot}$withdrawal times could be used for prescription of EM in field for the treatment of bacterial diseases in olive flounder.
Genetic improvement of the cultivated soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr] may be possible through hybridization with its wild progenitor, G. soja Sieb. & Zucc. Interspecific cross between G. max (Hwangkeumkong) and G. soja (IT.182932) was made in the summer of 1997. In F$_2$ the percentage of plant height, nodes per plant, and pods per plant were high but gradually reduced from F$_2$ to F$_4$. In contrast pod length, seeds per pod, and 100-seeds weight were increased gradually through generations advanced. Wild variation as evident in F$_2$ in plant height, number of branches, pods per plant, and 100-seeds weight. Twenty six percent of the F$_2$, 44 % of the F$_3$ and 60% of the F$_4$ segregants showed more G. max traits. The combination of useful traits from both species is possible through interspecific hybridization. The characters that could be transferred from wild species to cultivated species are more pod number, better capacity, and resistance to disease and insects. The interspecific derivatives offer scope for selection for high grain yield. Therefore, introducing genes from G. soja to G. max could be contribute to greater genetic diversity of future cultivars. And semicultivated soybean had some desired characteristics including tolerance to adverse environments and multi-seed characters. It means the infusing of semicultivated germplasm to the cultivated soybean could increase number of seeds and pods per plant significantly, and consequently could enhance selecting potential on yield.

A series of field and laboratory permeability tests were performed to investigate the pore-clogging phenomenon of porous concrete used for pavement materials of a road. The field permeability tests were conducted for 37 study points in Jeju city, using the porous concretes with 13mm of maximum coarse aggregate ($G_{max}$). The results show that the service life of porous concrete is about 22 months when the permeability of the porous concrete is designed for 0.01 cm/sec. Some specimens were made with the purpose of recreating pore-clogging phenomenon. Tests were done for injected concentration of pore-clogging materials or size of maximum coarse aggregates ($G_{max}$). The test results demonstrated that relatively long in service life experienced with small amount of injected concentration of pore-clogging materials, whereas relatively short in service life experienced with a reduction in size of maximum coarse aggregates ($G_{max}$). In conclusion, the service life of porous concrete is in proportion to the concentration of pore-clogging material but it is in inverse proportion to the size of maximum coarse aggregate ($G_{max}$). Thus, the persisting period of porous concrete can be determined with respect to concentration of pore-clogging materials or size of maximum coarse aggregates ($G_{max}$).

This paper proposes a method improving the convergence speed of optimal solution for parallel genetic algorithm in the network based client-server model. Unlike the existing methods of obtaining global elite only by evaluating local elites in server, the proposed method obtains it by evaluating local elites and improving its fitness by applying genetic algorithm during idle time of the server. By using the improved chromosome in server for the client's genetic algorithm processing, the convergence speed of the optimal solution is increased. The improvement of fitness at the server during the interval of chromosome migration is (equation omitted)(F$_{max}$(g)-F$_{max}$(g-1)), whole F$_{max}$(g) is a max fitness of the g-th generation and G is the number of improved generation by the server. As the number of clients increases and G decreases, the improvement of fitness goes down. However the improvement of fitness is better than existing methods..
