Proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is the most promising energy source for the robot applications because it has unique advantages such as high energy density, no power drop during operating, and easy to make compact size. However, PEMFC has intrinsic disadvantages which are delay to start up and difficulty to correspond drastic load changes. These disadvantages can be compensated by hybrid operating with a Li-poly battery. This study is focus to build and understand the hybrid system for the robot system. In this study, we build the PEMFC hybrid system using EOS-320 PEMFC stack, Li-poly battery and G-Philos FDX1-250BU dc-dc converter. The hybrid system is accurately monitored by CAN and RS485. The system was studied under two conditions such as non-loaded and loaded operating conditions. The results show that the system has delay to start up without hybrid operating and it can be compensated with the hybrid operating.

This paper describes an implementation of a graph-based simultaneous localization and mapping(SLAM) method called the General Graph Optimization. The General Graph Optimization formulates the SLAM problem using nodes and edges. The nodes represent the location and attitude of a robot in time sequence, and the edge between the nodes depict the constraint between the nodes. The constraints are imposed by sensor measurements. The General Graph Optimization solves the problem by optimizing the performance index determined by the constraints. The implementation is verified using the measurement data sets which are open for test of various SLAM methods.

This study aims to derive the design requirements for functional clothing worn with military wearable robots using a survey of people with military experience. Specifically, 982 adult males with military and muscular exercise experience were surveyed for their demands for the clothing worn with wearable robots during military activities. The study showed that it is necessary to develop functional clothing worn inside robots suitable for frequent movements of soldiers to improve their comfort level of wearable robots. The surveyed soldiers indicated that they preferred the top and bottom clothing with high-pressure levels because the upper body felt fatigued during transportation, while both the upper and lower body got exhausted during marches. The survey of design requirements revealed that the participants preferred a top with long sleeves and a bottom with ankle-length leggings in color similar to current military uniforms. We conclude that it is important to design functional clothing worn inside wearable robots in different forms depending on frequent movements, e.g., with differentiated pressures and material placements.
This paper introduces a dual manipulator system designed to automate the packaging process of industrial coils, which exhibit higher variability than other structured industrial fields due to diverse commercial requirements. The conventional solution involves the direct-teaching method, where an operator instructs the robot on a target configuration. However, this method has distinct limitations, such as low flexibility in dealing with varied sizes and safety concerns for the operators handling large products. In this sense, this paper proposes a two-step approach for coil packaging: motion planning and assembly execution. The motion planning includes a Rapidly-exploring Random Tree algorithm and a smoothing method, allowing the robot to reach the target configuration. In the assembly execution, the packaging is considered a peg-in-hole assembly. Unlike typical peg-in-hole assembly handling two workpieces, the packaging includes three workpieces (e.g., coil, inner ring, side plate). To address this assembly, the paper suggests a suitable strategy for dual manipulation. Finally, the validity of the proposed system is demonstrated through experiments with three different sizes of coils, replicating real-world packaging situations.

Recently, G.A studies have studied and demonstrated that artificial intelligence like G.A networks, G.A PI controller. The design techniques of PI controller using G.A with the newly proposed teaming algorithm was presented, and the designed controller with AC servo motor system. The goal of this paper is to design the AC servo motor using genetic algorithm and to control drive robot. And in this paper, we propose a genetic algorithms approach to find an optimal or near optimal input variables for genetic algorithm PI controller. Our experimental results show that this approach increases overall classification accuracy rate significantly. Finally, we executed for the implementation of high performance speed control system. It is used a 16-bit DSP, IMS320LF2407, which is capable of the high speed and floating point calculation.
Artificial-intelligence (AI) technology is used in a variety of fields, from robot cleaner motion control to call center counselors, AI speakers, and Mars exploration. Because the technology levels of all applications and services that utilize AI vary widely, it is not possible to view all applications using AI technology at the same level. Nevertheless, there have been no cases in which the level of AI technology was defined. Therefore, the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory has defined the levels of the main technical elements of AI from steps 1 to 6. In this report, the Artificial Intelligence Technology Level 1.0 (ATL 1.0) is presented. It was established by comprehensively referring to the AI technology prospects and technology roadmaps of major countries. It is hoped that it can be used as a measure for determining the levels of AI applications or services or as an indicator for establishing a technology roadmap.

Recently autonomous navigation systems are taken great attention in real industry. The ability to performing desired tasks in rough, changing, unstructured and uncertain environments without continuous human assistance is needed in autonomous navigation systems including autonomous robots. Industrial Mobile robot can be required wireless network communications for the purpose of navigation information sharing. According to these backgrounds, in this paper, we develop sensor network and wireless network-based autonomous navigation systems, and provide experimental results in order to show the validity of the developed systems.

In this paper, a compact 3-DOF mobile microrobot with sub-micron resolution is presented. It has many outstanding features : it is as small as a coin ; its precision is of sub-micrometer resolution on the plane ; it has an unlimited travel range ; and it has simple and compact mechanisms and structures which can be realized at low cost. With the impact actuating mechanism, this system enable both fast coarse motion and highly precise fine motion with a pulse wave input voltage controlled. The 1 -DOF impact actuating mechanism is modeled by taking into consideration the friction between the piezoelectric actuator and base. This modeling technique is extended to simulate the motion of the 3-DOF mobile robot. In addition, experiments are conducted to verify that the simulations accurately represent the real system. The modeling and simulation results will be used to design the model-based controller for the target system. The developed system can be used as a robotic positioning device in the micromanipulation system that determines the position of micro-sized components or particles in a small space, or assemble them in the meso-scale structure.
Although the current internationally recommended standard for the use factor (U) applied to CyberKnife is 0.05 (5%), the CyberKnife shielding standard is applied more stringently. This study, based on clinical data, was aimed at examining the appropriateness of existing shielding guidelines. Sixty patients treated with G4 CyberKnife were selected. The patients were divided into two groups, according to whether they underwent skull or spine tracking. Based on the results, the use factors for each wall ranged from 0.028 (2.8%) to 0.031 (3.1%) for the intracranial treatment and 0.020 (2.0%) to 0.022 (2.2%) for the body treatment. Excessive barrier thickness resulted in inefficient use of space and higher cost to the institutions. Furthermore, because the use factor is influenced by the position of the robot, the use factor determined based on the clinical data of this study would facilitate more reasonable treatment room design.

This paper presents an end-point position control of 1-link flexible robot arm by the PID self-tuning fuzzy algorithm. The governing equation is derived by the extended Hamilton's principle and based on the Bernoullie-Euler beam theory. The governing equation is solved by applying the Laplace transform and the numerical inversion method. The arm is mounted on the translational mechanism driven by a ballscrew whose rotation is controlled by dcservomotor. Tip position is controlled by the PID self-tuning fuzzy algorithm so that it follows a desired position. This paper shows the experimental and theoretical results of tip dispalcement, and also shows the good effects reducing the residual vibration of the end-point.
